Ante-post wagers:

Phil Mickelson(+900) e.w.
Charles Howell(80/1) e.w.
Jose-Maria Olazabal(100/1) e.w.

I'll have my obligatory Tiger Woods "Win Only" wager as insurance against, although it's been long enough that I could easily pull for the Chosen One (Big Occasion Cablinasian, Eldrick of Windermere, History, Major Major, Money, Sam, T, the Man, the Show, the Striped One, the Terminator, the Universal Child, the Zone, Urkel) in the right situation.

Going back to last seaon, Ernie "The Big Quitter" Els has stood out in my mind as a man that will be a big part of the story in the 2005 Masters, and his fits and starts on Thursdays through Sundays just reinforces the notion week after week.

I'll overindulge in the specialty markets and go from there.

Any props on the O/U for stoppages in play for weather, darkness and general pestilence?

"When you hear someone shout "You da man," if he ain't shouting at Arnold Palmer, then it ain't da man."

In case any want to forgo the Bell and look to Masters here are some stats that may be of interest--don't know how they will cut and paste--would also think that any player to play both last week and this week would be negative--those not playing this week a positive.

sorry chaps. but also got Di Marco w/o big 4 and Ole e/w. sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they'll probably get hit by a falling branch coming down 18 when 2 clear caused by a rogue bunch of squirrels who've overdosed on Azalia petals. Not that i'm taking todays result badly or anything.

oh and tiger will probably hit it into the divot caused by the above event and take 6, thus blowing my 13/2 away.

That Over 80' on Duval looks like the easiest money i've seen in a long time. Not familar with that book. Anyone see that line anywhere else?

The Masters

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Retief Goosen to win 16/1 e.w. available generally
Twice a winner in Georgia and a top-15 in each of the last three years here, Goosen has the experience and the game to add this title to his CV. The odds may be a little shorter than had been hoped for, but while all the talk is about the 'Big Four', Goosen is clear in 5th place in the World Rankings and is a two-time Major Champion. He could very easily, and quietly, be in the mix on Sunday evening.

David Toms to win 40/1 e.w. available generally
Toms is another Major Champion with plenty of experience at Augusta - this will be his eighth appearance and he secured two top-10 finishes already with a personal best of 64 that is only one shot outside the course record held by Nick Price and Greg Norman. His PGA Championship win in 2001 was also in the State of Georgia and he does have a very good record here with six top-10 finishes in his last twelve visits to this State. And in his current form - finishes of 4th, 1st, 5th and 5th in his last four events if we ignore the weather-disrupted Players Championship - he is certainly playing well enough to continue his high finishes in Georgia.

Luke Donald to win 25/1 e.w. @ GolfingGods ['w/o Woods, Mickelson, Els & Singh' market]
Donald will be joining the other two selections in the top-10 of the World Rankings within the next few months. His game has moved to a completely new level over its 2003 state and he will climb from his current 16th position quite quickly. He may get there this week, but as there has only been one rookie winner of this event in its history, it might seem a tall order. Thankfully, he pulled out of last week's BellSouth Classic and with six top-13 finishes in seven starts this season, he really should be in contention again. Did look at place odds, but this market appears best-suited to the Englishman.

anyone with any thoughts on the phenom amateur Ryan Moore? I put 10 bucks on him to Top 5 at 150-1 at 5Dimes. This kid has won everything that you can possibly win as an amateur....more than Tiger???

The kid really thinks he can win, and who am I to bet against that?
