Libby and Cunningham will be Pardoned by Bush before he leaves office. Take that to the bank!
The government and the media are feeding us info like we were hungry Racoons in a Dumpster.

I'm not saying that any of these stories are true. all I'm saying and it can not be disputed is : Mylroie and Miller are what they are, you decide & they were the voice of the neocons that made policy in the Bush AD. There is nothing covert about it.

My bad, Bryanz.

Whatever the case, Wayne is now toying with us, circling like a vulture waiting for the perfect time to unleash the Marc Rich killshot.

congratulations,bryanz...for unwittingly, yet effectively dragging the topic away from the treasonous actions of the times...

random stuff i`ve read........and some opinions...

""An Lt. in Iraq writes the NYT.""

Dear Messrs. Keller, Lichtblau & Risen:

""Congratulations on disclosing our government's highly classified anti-terrorist-financing program (June 23). I apologize for not writing sooner. But I am a lieutenant in the United States Army and I spent the last four days patrolling one of the more dangerous areas in Iraq. (Alas, operational security and common sense prevent me from even revealing this unclassified location in a private medium like email.)

Unfortunately, as I supervised my soldiers late one night, I heard a booming explosion several miles away. I learned a few hours later that a powerful roadside bomb killed one soldier and severely injured another from my 130-man company. I deeply hope that we can find and kill or capture the terrorists responsible for that bomb. But, of course, these terrorists do not spring from the soil like Plato's guardians. No, they require financing to obtain mortars and artillery shells, priming explosives, wiring and circuitry, not to mention for training and payments to locals willing to emplace bombs in exchange for a few months' salary. As your story states, the program was legal, briefed to Congress, supported in the government and financial industry, and very successful.

Not anymore. You may think you have done a public service, but you have gravely endangered the lives of my soldiers and all other soldiers and innocent Iraqis here. Next time I hear that familiar explosion -- or next time I feel it -- I will wonder whether we could have stopped that bomb had you not instructed terrorists how to evade our financial surveillance.

And, by the way, having graduated from Harvard Law and practiced with a federal appellate judge and two Washington law firms before becoming an infantry officer, I am well-versed in the espionage laws relevant to this story and others -- laws you have plainly violated. I hope that my colleagues at the Department of Justice match the courage of my soldiers here and prosecute you and your newspaper to the fullest extent of the law. By the time we return home, maybe you will be in your rightful place: not at the Pulitzer announcements, but behind bars.""

Very truly yours,

Tom Cotton
Baghdad, Iraq........................................................

a little history lesson...

very similar to today`s war on terror...liberals and the american appeasement crowd of 1939-1941....

"progressive" senator bob la follette ...(wisconsin) ....

1939...he condemned u.s. companies for selling military supplies to france and england.....saying no one should profit from europe`s war making....

1940. ...he opposed giving any aid to england, including lend-lease.... he didn't care if england fell to facism.....

and his money quote. ...."this bill will give roosevelt dictatoral powers second only to hitler and stalin"....

sound familiar?

the "radical left", wrong in 1940, wrong (and saying the same things) in 2006......

but,if this were the clinton administration...or the kerry adminstration.....trying to trace terrorist bank transfers..and the media exposed the classified program...i can say without a moment`s hesitation,i`d still be going nuts about this...

is their bush derangment syndrome that bad?...... do they hate bush and this country so much they'd commit suicide just to bring his poll numbers down?.......
i guess,yes....

.

i'm back on my heels at how insane the "far/radical" left has become(not guys on this board like chad, kosar, stevie, smurph et al that just have a different philosophy...i`m talking the loons)... but i guess i shouldn't be surprised either.....

if you can't give up on marxism after the trail of suffering and death it's left, you can't be reasoned with......

think about the lunacy at college campus`(campi?) around the country, you know what type of country these academics/journalists would make if they were in charge.....

they hate everything this country was founded on, and most are still dissapointed the soviet union fell and reagan was proven right.....

so, imo,, they do hate the u.s.a. and will do everything in their power to change it the way they want it....including endagering our troops, and leaking classified information in time of war....they are becoming the enemy

i can only hope that the majority of americans are getting sick of this shit......

GW,

Regarding your original post that seems to have you in a frenzy. While I don't like or condone leaking and/or publishing classified info, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal that there is a plan to reduce by 28,000 troops out of 130,000 over the next 18 months. I guess I don't see how that really helps the enemy.

As I recall, you didn't find what Scooter Libby much of a big deal at all. Neither did I, but it would be just splendid if you were consistent and not just landing wherever the political winds blow you.

As for your general malaise and addressing your 'Sherman' quote at the end of your first post, I have come to think that freedom of the press is really not something that you support. I think a Chinese/North Korean style of publishing only pro-government propaganda would better suit you.

But to each his own, as they say!

I can't believe you believe this stuff. This letter comes from someone as miss guided as your self, if true. The nyt has broken no laws and if they did they would be prosecuted. I tryed to show the relationship between the times and the Bush Ad. Don't you think that the terrorist have always tryed to hide their money, the times didn't tell them anything. A story like this is leaked for public consumption so that people on the far right can have something to hold onto and talk about and be diverted from the real story. You didn't care about the stories in the times before the war that helped us get to this point. Look at the relationship that Mulroie and Miller have and look at the relationships they have with people in the Bush AD. Do you think Lovin got that story right ? You have to know that leaks like this are common. This story does nothing but help the right with their talking point: that the left is anti American and weak on terror. 9 out of 10 leaks come from the side that stands up and is out raged by the leak.

Bush went to Iraq ; no leaks. If this Information was as important to him there would have been no leaks. If anyone on the left had leaked, anything that was not declassified, they would have been prosecuted. That's what you are missing, this stuff was watered down and declassified for the general public. It's good stuff, for the core of the left and right to go at each other, and divert the public attention, while they waste time and money and get nothing done. I'm not blaming the right,it happens on both sides. if nothing happens there is always something to do. Its like the pharmaceutical companies. If they find a cure, they can't sell you that next pill. If you read some of this stuff I posted up top with an open mind, you can see the lines blurred between the left and right. I did not know that Miller and Mylroie wrote a book together until today. That relationship explains much to me about their relationship with the Bush AD. We have all these people in Washington on the left and the right in politics and journalism, most of them are after power and money, and personal fame. How do we know, who does what for what ? Who's looking out for you and me ?

The letter from the Lieutenant is not real. Once before in this forum, I challenged a member that said he was in combat, others said that I should apologize, but I stood my ground because my experience said no way. It turned out the guy was a fake. Not that it's a big deal but it would surprise Bryan from Syracuse if this letter was real.

It is quite obvious that what the majority of Americans are getting sick of is a President who lies to the citizenry in order to gain license to wield his power in the way that he sees fit.

What the majority of Americans are sick of is the White House?s ongoing mockery of the Bill of Rights.

What the majority of Americans are sick of is sending our sons off to die in a war for that will not be won.

What the majority of Americans are sick of is the realization that our President has created this nightmare because he and his cronies have an agenda that he thinks that we are too stupid to recognize.

The smoke and mirrors are no longer working so don?t shoot the messenger, he is not the one in the wrong.

lol- nah. I've met around 125-150 people from this site, of all political bents, and not one political conversation has ever ensued. Not necessary in that environment.

Look forward to it. I get in around 12:30 on thursday afternoon. :SIB

True, but sadly, the "fact" is that Gore won the popular vote in 2000.

I have asked this question before. What ever happened to the great men that were willing to serve this great country? When we are left with choices like Gore, Kerry and Bush, why is it any surprise that our leadership is constantly questioned on the decisions they make in the "best interest" of our nation?

""This story does nothing but help the right with their talking point: that the left is anti American and weak on terror. 9 out of 10 leaks come from the side that stands up and is out raged by the leak""..

did you read sulzberger`s speech that i posted a link to?....

bryanz...are you really that stupid?....you are aware that for several weeks that the heads of the 9/11 commission(bi-partisan,btw)and members of congress from both sides of the aisle asked the times not to publish the story(including your hero murtha)...

are you aware of that?

and while your at it,list the abuses,please.....

of the patriot act.....

of the wiretapping of terrorists....

of the bank transfer investigation...

or are all your arguments theoretical?....whimsy?....

don`t dodge the question...answer it,please...

the dems on the 9/11 commission cried,"we need to connect the dots"...

the same ones that will scream at the administration if we get hit again...

well, the administration is attempting to do just that...

the valerie plame issue gets investigated by the justice dept...and she`s not even an undercover operative...no breach of anything...

they breach national security anti-terrorism programs,....10 times worse...multiple times....
and you guys yawn...

can`t have it both ways...

were you screaming when they found classified fbi records of 500 republicans in the clinton white house?...

of course not...it`s all politics for you guys...

the country`s security`s a sidelight...

bush derangement syndrome... squared...

i must give credit,though...props to the times for doin' what the old soviet union wasn't able to do...

dtb...ar182....ctown....how`s about a meet-up?.

place: nyt`s reception desk 43rd st nyc....
action: group FART in lobby....

I have never said, and I mean never, anything against the Patriot act, wire tapping, bank transfer investigations . I'm for them all. I have never said or do I think the Bush Ad, abused their powers in these areas. The difference between, this conservative and you is, I can see the good and the bad.
