I think we are going to be OK. Eisenhower way back when said something about how we cannot prepare for every attack scenario - it's impossible. We would bury ourselves in debt if we attempted to stop every such scenario.

A little competence - not additional military buildup - could have stopped 9/11 from happening. Bush pulled a nice little trick by holding the whole "kept us safe" crap on his way out of office. He never accepted any blame for 9/11, but was perfectly willing to take all credit for any non-attack after 9/11. ...Kind of a dick move. ....No pun intended.

then clinton was responsible for multiple attacks on u.s. interests during his tenure?...

on the homeland AND abroad?...

and obama will be responsible for any attacks during his presidency?...

depends on how it shakes down. bush was on vacation while rice was ignoring important memos. that's incompetence.

so now you are going to say "us interests"....:142smilie

My point was that Bush can't have it both ways. If he's going to gloat about "keeping us safe" then he must also man up and accept responsibility for the time(s) that he didn't "keep us safe".

And what kind of title is this "gutting" the military crap? So any reductions from arguably bloated budgets is cosidered "gutting"? Don't you think that premise is....bullshit?

You've gotten past the first step.

Har har.......

Funny how rational thought gest completely ignored.

What is it with you guys? Is everything party lines and talking points with you?

This is a simple issue, IMO. I ask myself a few questions to make a conclusion.

1. Are there countries/organizations that want to harm or kill American Citizens here in our nation? Yes.

2. Are said countries/organizations capable of doing so with a missile attack?
Apparently, yes

3. Should money be budgeted to protect American Citizens from this happening?
YES.

How can you come to any other conclusion?

No, depends who fucks up.

so lets get this on record....if it happens on obama`s watch...after all that`s come before in the 2 previous administrations...and knowing that we are fully aware that islamists are intent on hurting us...

then,it`s fair to say that obama did not keep us safe?....

Perhaps. I'm certainly not going to let him have it both ways, as so many of you have allowed Bush.

Weasel, will you please answer my other question about Bush:

Do you feel he kept us safe after 9/11? If so, do you feel he did not keep us safe during 9/11?

yes, he kept us safe after 9/11....

and being that bush was only in office for several months and that 9/11 was plotted during clinton`s administration,i would say that 9/11 is a shared responsibility of the bush and clinton administrations....

not letting bush off the hook....

but...after 9/11....it`s a whole differentt ballgame..we`ve been put on notice...no one can be surprised by any attempted massive attack on the homeland...

the ball is in bock`s court...

That's true...but attack by missile is not an off the wall scenario.
