He moved to Vegas from Florida with only a couple thousand bucks to play poker for a living. I have to give him credit for taking a shot at something he thinks he wants to do and without any help from parents, etc.
He quickly lost his initial bankroll and got a job serving and plays nights until he builds his bankroll up enough to go full time again.
A member here, nysportsfan, did the same thing 5 years ago and is still going strong. He started out playing 1/3 NLHE and now plays with the big boys at 10/20 NLHE.
Interesting , good for him & NY. Had a friend who went to Vegas in the late 60's lasted about 5 yrs. Eventually quit the poker & gambling, ended up working full time dealing at the Golden Gate.
I thought I wanted to try it myself and I went out there for a month in the early 90's to give it a go. I was back home in 10 days because I couldn't stand the lifestyle. Spending your days and nights playing a game for a living might sound appealing but sitting around playing poker with a bunch of miserable, angry, people is no fun at all and that's exactly how it was 20 years ago. I can't imagine it's changed much either.
He seems pretty disciplined. Stays away from the tables and machines, no alcohol ever, no drugs ever and still resisting moving up in limits. ~ $20 an hour is about all he can expect at that level though.
