I stand corrected, to a degree. I wasn't aware that Davis had such a big part in getting Jeffries there, or the others. But I do have to believe that Knight had some sort of say in whom he wanted, even if he wasn't willing to do the leg work.

Knight is doing a great job so far in Tex, he has really turned the program around in a short amount of time, but we will have to wait and see if he can keep his head together and not blow up, which is highly doubtful.

Thanks for enlightening me on these things, I always liked Bobby Knight, and I may be a bit partial towards him, for whatever reason.

nothing wrong with liking knight as a coach i think he was great, but its a new era with players and have to adapt to how those outside the coaching ranks think they should be treated, and thats what sucks, thats why i got out of it,to much bs from press and faculty that wouldnot know the difference fro their ass and a pine tar rag.

like the commen man is going to use the readings of plato and aristotle,or be ask walking down the road what the atomic number of magnesium is. this is how some of these professor's and don't get me going on phD's they were sniffing to many paint cans and eating microdots back in the 70's, they have runied the coaching field with their lame ass veiws on how the world should be. they need to go back to the coffee house and sip their espresso while thinking how to rob the goverenment of some more money for their new grant for the melting of the polar icecapps. these are the idiots that kill coaching. and now you know why i got out:D

just a quick example when i was a ga at fl,had a player that had to miss a test because we were flying out to lsu that morinig, well the dick phD with his anthropology class wasnot going to let him make it up and said he would drop him if he missed which would of put him under 12 credits and made him ineligible because below full-time status,so i go talk to the guy explain this and this beared smelly hemp wearing sandle toed freak looks at me and says sorry coach apples and oranges don't = peaches wtf i was ready to shove his gravity bong up his ass, took the kid,had to go before presd. board to get him back in class, thats why its hard to coach. moonbeams like this ass that i had to deal with and they are at all universitys, being to smart has to be harmful:thefinger

need a xannax having flashbacks:eek:

A1- If you still like Bobby Knight, I am sorry but I can't ask you to come to my house or drive my car.
We all have a temper (IRISH) in us but this man IS sick !!!!
Goodness comes from inside us ,and i don'nt think this man knows the meaning of goodness, kindness, ruth, compassion,etc.etc.etc.
I don't think respect he demanded was earned,as it was though fear of the others he pulled his crap on.
Complere idiot and moron . People, nomatter what age should be treated with respect, not assault and crybaby antics ...:moon:
Spanky - Quick ,hide the plastic chairs,Knight is going to go nuts again !!!!

My respect for Mike Davis has grown ten-fold during this tournament. The man believes in and respects his players and doesn't have to chastise or intimidate them to get the most out of them.

Everyone rags on Coach K, but as a disciple of Knight I find it amazing how the two are so different demeanor wise. Can't compare the two when it comes to histrionics, tirades, anger, etc. And both are winners. Go figure.

sampson what were you thinking. So the game plan is that Indiana is preparing hard for the press. The big Oklahoma defense that will create so many turnovers. So Sampson gets the bright idea. I know they have prepared for the press so we will put up a zone defense and fool them. DUHHHH

didnt he know Indiana loves zone defenses. The Sooner players came out tight. As soon as the game started I knew that wager was doomed. Sure wish i could watch the first minute of games before I placed my bets. damn...

as for knight what a total moron that man is. He is evil deep and has a ego the size of texas. not a good mix. when I am long gone from here and my time on earth has passed , i want you to bury me upside down so my critics can kiss my ass! what class on that guy . he deserves zip credit and is sitting in front of the tv watching and biting his tongue off.

Knight is one of my favorite coaches.....the man cares about his kids, he doesn't care about what anyone thinks of him, he is very intelligent, and he doesn't take sh*t from anyone.

He just exposes people for what they really are sometimes and that makes enemies.....

Mike Davis has done one of the best coaching performances ever getting this team through the dance. He deserves all the credit for this team. His talent is really not that great other than Jeffries. They are well coached and respond well to him. He had them ready to play tonight -- every single one of them -- and he has taught them the fundamentals -- carrying on the Knight tradition. We saw part of Knight out there tonight in the blocking out and superb movement and screening. We saw part of Knight in Davis......we also saw some of Davis which we don't see in Knight. Knight does have a problem with class sometimes....and Davis is a great character guy.

Congrats to the Hoosiers......

oklahoma pulled the steeler , rams syndrome

Oklahoma didnt play like they did all year. The only OK team I recognized showed up with 10 min to go in the first half and they played DEFENSE.Played great pressure defense and took the lead by 7 and then shut it down thinking they allready won.Indiana sucks.Oklahoma looked forward , and like teams that look forward, went backward. As far as these people who say this is still Bobby Knights team :thefinger

Some good opinions on the Knight-Davis topic.
Both sides have good pts.
Knight as most of you know is a great teacher. It's the people skills that he lacks in.
He coached in my area for yrs.Got to know many of the HS coaches that I know.
I worked at West Point b-ball and baseball camps for yrs.The stories you hear are true and some far fetched.
I have seen him 3 times at clinics.
But even in clinics he loses it.
It's '83 or 84 and he has a one man clinic at Poughkeepsie HS.
On sat moring we are in the gym so Knight can show us coaches plays on the court.
They use PHS kids to demonstrate while Knight places them on the floor. In 2 minuts a kid messes up and Knight is all over him.In the next 10 minuts he is getting more frustrated because the kids on the floor don't understand him.
He continues to berate these kids screaming"don't you know what a duck in is".Don't you know this, who the hell is your coach, where is your coach? then he talks to their coach who is sitting right next to me."Coach,I know its sat morning but this kids don't know shit, etc, etc.
I felt so bad and had my head down. What an asshole. These are HS kids.If those were my kids out there I would of told Knight to take a hike and remove my kids from the floor.
Now a few yrs later one of my best friends is retiring from coaching.he knew Knight very well when he coached at Army.he worked Knights camps, etc, etc.
At the retirement dinner I'm the MC.We roast him, other coaches get up and tell stories.Coach has over 300 wins, etc.
One of the awards I'm presenting to him comes wrapped in brown paper. It's a frame.
I open it to read in front of 300 people and it's a framed letter with IU on it from Bobby Knight. The letter was so moving about Coach Mc.Almost everyone was crying. The letter was a personnel one about HS coaches and what Coach Mc did for kids.
Now Knight does a lot of those things we don't see in the papers.Unfortunetly he does a lot that deserve to be in the papers.
The point I'm trying to make is there are so many good things he does but many things he's way off on.

Davis deserves most of the credit.Knight gets a little too.
It's really not about Knight. It's about Davis and his players. And they are showing all the experts how wrong they were.
I like what he said about practice today. We don't practice on Sundays. That's a day of worship.
Uh oh....Now I have to think about another angle with those jumpers from above....

box yes you are right there are many things that knight has done that go unheard of. he is a great individaul when it comes to loyalty, especially with former players. he has done so much for i.u. with fund raisers, speaking engagements and so on. but his ego and temper has gotten the best of him. he to this day still denies ever choking neil reid. his actions some mey be valid but most our uncalled for in todays society. times have changed and knight never changed with them. but enough about this ego maniac.

Davis turned this team into what is not KNIGHT! But still he continues to hear the whispers in the background. Knight wouldn't have taken this team anywhere near where they are now. Davis did the recruiting, Davis got these players to believe in him and themselves, Davis is the coach, Davis is the teacher, Davis has been rock solid from the get go. All praise from him is to his players and thats the bottom line.

Just to show you how much of an a-hole knight really is and that he still believes he is the victim here. watch the bob costas interview on hbo and see what he says when costas ask the ? about if he has contacted davis or had any intentions of contacting davis. This is a bitter man who lives with himself and his emotions. stubborn as hell and proud of it.

knight has always denied evrything that is a tarnish on his gold ass. he pushed aside alford and he will do the same with davis. this is a man who can have no one around him who has a chance to be bigger than him.]

I.U. fans should be thankful knight is gone and praise the new era, keep pushing davis behind the knight b.s. and you can say bye bye indiana hello alabama for davis and this would be a loss for the program.

dr freeze you are correct

indiana h.s. basketball is the best in the land. where else could this happen?

damon baileys last game as a high schoolplayer was at the state championship. they moved the game from the market square arena to the hoosier dome. 40,000 + packed into the dome to watch a high school player play his last game. hell he drew more fans then the colts where drawing at the time. that is what makes high school basketball so special in indiana. a trip to the wigwam in anderson, going to frankfort for sectionals. and many other places that are just amazing to see a game and are packed every friday night for the games.
