About six months ago I left my job and paid off all my expenses for six months in an attempt to gamble professionally. After paying off my expenses I was left with about a 50k bankroll. The goal was simple. I never wanted to work in a traditional job again. Well the six months are over bills are getting ready to start popping up and a decision needed to be made.
I knew gambling for a living was a long shot. Especially for a guy with a compulsive side, who has had his problems with discipline and money mangement in the past. I was prepared for a grind, and so far that is exactly what I have gotten. Having your income depend on a bouncing ball and the morons who bounce it is quite obviously insane. So far there has been a great deal of drinking, heartburn, and stress. Probably a little more of the above than when I had a real job.
After 6 months trying to do this for a living I have learned a lot. Such as who the hell did i think I was? What kind of shit was I smoking? I also learned that it is a hell of a lot easier for me to cap a game or a race when you don't have a job or wife getting in the way. At the same time you have the added pressure of knowing that my groceries depend on some thug named Rhaheem making the front end of a one and one. My Bankroll actually grew quite nicely over the six months and Im on pace to only make slightly less than my last 12 months in my J O B. My Cobra benefits are running out and my safety net is now gone. The decision was an obvious one.
I just signed on for another six months. :sadwave:
I never said I was smart.
