If you think Lesnar is good then I assume you think Bobby Lashley is going to be a star.
All these guys are simply sideshows to pull in non true mma fans.
It is a gimmick to make money and make people talk.
Everyone talks about Kimbo not being in the top whatever number you want to say.
What has Brock done to merit any ranking???

His wrestling background means ZERO to me because he will NEVER use it to win a fight.
He just wants to bully his way to victories.

Ive never seen Lashley fight ANYBODY, so I dont have an opinion on him...

Brock hasnt done anything to merit any ranking.. Neither BUCS nor I spoke of his spot in the rankings...... rankings wont mean chit to me until MMA has some type of Ryder Cup event one day.. :142smilie

A strong wrestling background means a lot to me... A Division 1 national champion tends to have some killer takedowns... he showed that against Mir...... his double-leg is right up there w/ Koscheck's.. unstoppable.. and his ground and pound will only improve.. Also, u dont become a D1 national champion wrestler w/o an innate sense of competitiveness..

I feel Lesnar has a bright future.. just my opinion... He has dedicated himself to the sport and has a helluva camp now along w/ a strong conditioning program (similar to Sherk's.. they have the same trainers, but Lesnar has brought in a stellar jiu jitsu coach).

Lashley has a similar background to Lesnar. He was NAIA wrestling champion and won 3 amatuer titles. Like Lesnar it is pretty clear that supplements played a big part in his early training life.
We will see if either elevate to stardom, but odds are against them as getting into the game late in life is real challenge in this sport.
I agree Lesnar could be good, but I personally have not seen it yet and if he does lose to Herring then I doubt I will ever see it.
Kimbo has already turned into a sideshow and he won.
A 2 loss in 3 fight Lesnar gets the same label is what I meant about being mentioned in same reguard as Kimbo.

Yep.. this is an important fight for Lesnar, mostly b/c I feel like Herring is a tailor-made opponent for him (as far as big names go).. Not a dangerous submission fighter.. likes to keep it standing which should create some takedown opportunities for Lesnar...

In Lesnar's fights he has always worked at a furious pace... it will be very difficult to finish Herring so we should learn more about Lesnar's conditioning/heart/skill set..

Not sure what Heath Herring you have been watching.
Yes he does want to stand up,but he has VERY SOLID SUBMISSION SKILLS for a heavyweight.
28 wins with 16 by submission. He loves the keylock and rear naked choke.
Of course that was old Heat Herring, of late he has not been much on submitting.

Yea... should have clarified... the new Heath Herring hasnt had a submission since 2003. :SIB Plus, his first cluster of opponents reads more like a phone book than an MMA record (with the exception of a much smaller Evan Tanner)............

Also, take into account that Lesnar has maned up and said he wants to fight the best, and is showing he is.

Kimbo hasn't fought anyone but a bunch of tomato cans.

It is hard to man up when you keep getting called out by a bunch of bitches like Monson who has about as many quality wins as Kimbo with 32 fights under his belt.

I think Kimbo not fighting anyone stellar falls back to 3 things:
1. Elitexc is not exactly loaded with HW stars.
2. Elite is not exactly a cash cow these days and having Kimbo suffer a bad loss right now would be a blow to Gary Shaw.
3. Bas knows he is not ready for a good fighter yet.

Like Kimbo or not, a street guy like him won't turn down any fight in my opinion.

Alot of the NON-UFC guys aren't OWNED like guys in the UFC are. Kimbo I'm sure has the ability to fight alot of HW's out there.

Honestly, there's no solution but just letting Kimbo lose like he's going to, then we'll just all watch him fade into the distance.

I also forgot to mention 1 very big detail in the difference of Brock Lesnar and James Ferguson. Kimbo is 34 years old. Wanna guess Lesnar's age?? He's a ripe 30 and will turn 31 next month. Kimbo is 3 1/2 years the elder and closing in on an age where not many can succeed. His body is going to start to go on a decline.

I think it's safe to say that he's no Randy Couture.

ps- Monson doesn't have any top flight quality wins other than Fujita; but he's more than held his own against some elite fighters...Barnett, Rizzo, Fujita, Sylvia, Liddell, Griffin, Ricco Rodriguez, and he's been more than willing to want to fight some top guys like Fedor.

I 100% agree and say Monson would walk through Kimbo. Just think he is looking for a payday and a win vs. Kimbo since he can't beat anyone major.
I think this call out was before the Thompson fight. He mentions 2-0 and with Monsons injuries of late he is in no position to be demanding fights only to back out.
