Know that the outcome no matter what is in the hands of GOD. Be strong for your family and do everything you can to make the little one's time left peacful and enjoyable. Really hope things take a turn for the best. I will say a special prayer for your Nephew tonight. Keep in mind, Faith can't get you out of trouble, but it can get you through it...

GOD BLESS....

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Please encourage your family to make decisions with your nephew's quality of life in consideration. What is the value of a few more hours, days, weeks, etc. if it is spent in suffering? It is very difficult to make these decisions when it involves someone we love so, be supportive with whatever they decide.

had a similar dilemna last september...and i`m still losing sleep over my decision..

well said,va nurse...actually comforted me a bit...

hedman, prayers to your nephew and your family...

Wow, what a couple of days. My nephew has completed three of his radiation treatments and is slowly progressing. It can best be explained that it looks like he had a stroke and his left side of his body is weak.

We had a lot of fun the last couple of days and it was great having him at our house, and while I miss him now, he was able to go home this weekend and is with his brothers and able to go to school.

He will be back in Dever monday and tuesday for his last 2 treatments and than its all in Gods hands.

He is in good spirits and has recieved lots of fun stuff, he really loves his xbox 360.

He also recieved a signed hockey stick by the Avs and we were able to get some club level seats for the playoff game against the Red Wings next tuesday, so it will be fun for me to take him to a playoff game. He loves the atmosphere.

Also, the Rockies came through big and we are set to go to a game on May 7th where he and his brothers can go on the field during batting practice and go into the dugout. He's pretty excited about that.

Thanks again for all your kind words and most of all your prayers.

We are all still praying this awful tumor goes away and doesnt come back.

checking in to give my hope. We all need to realize
our petty little day to day problems are nothing
compared to life and death. HOPE AND PRAYERS.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. My nephew had a great weekend at his home and was able to get to his school on Friday to say hi to his friends.

He comes back tomorrow for his last 2 treatments and he has not had any nasty sideeffects of the radiation, which in itself is a small maricle.

He will be staying at my home again the next couple of days. We are hoping to have something set up for him to meet Joe Sakic tomorrow night and than we have some great seats for the game on Tuesday night.

I continue to pray that he stays strong and will enjoy the game, as its a late start here in Denver Tuesday night, but we will get him lots of Pepsi and sugar, one of the main reasons they like to go to games with their Uncle.

Thanks again for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

Hedman, as a father of 5, I couldn't even imagine having one of them go through what your nephew is going through. God bless your nephew and your family.

Just took a boo at this thread.
Shit like this pisses me off.
Wish I had seen more possible solutions. Gamblingfool makes some good suggestions.
I've just spent some time, myself, reading the entry at emedicine.com about brainstem gliomas but, unfortunately, much of it is way beyond my comprehension. Besides, this is one of the main sites used by most practitioners so I suppose that any info within should have been considered by those treating him.

I'd better shut up.
Clearly of limited value, what I have to offer.
Stuff like this makes me feel so useless.

I suppose I can add that the only thing I despise more than death is, perhaps, suffering; anything that can be done to relieve the same sounds like the most ethical way to proceed. It sounds like many people close to him are doing what they can in that regard so you should all be admired for that.

I'll hope for the best.
