1st off, unless you go out on a limb and CONSISTENTLY post picks in this forum, you should just pipe down.
2ndly, Do you think Raymond would post a pick that he thought would lose so everybody lost cash
3rdly, You are still responsible for your own picks, This forum is here to help everyone "beat there man" but eventually YOU call to place the bet. If you dont like the game DONT PLAY IT! If you play the game accept responsibility if it loses.

Raymonds record is immaterial, he isnt posting to try to "sucker" you. Hes offering his opinion on the side he thinks will win. If you agree take the game, if not dont play it.

Raymond has done nothing to soliciate negative posts.. Hes not asking money for his picks, hes not forcing you to play his picks, he is offering no guareentee on his picks, hes just letting you know in an open forum what he thinks are good plays...

His bashers should try to post DAILY before they slam him, put yourself out there,,

Bottom line is Raymond has been nothing but cordial with his posts... Leave him alone.. dont read his thread if you dont like his plays... Be man enough to accept YOUR LOSES..

I for one enjoy his plays..
Hope your back Thursday Ray

I agree with everything in your post except for this line.

Raymonds record is immaterial, he isnt posting to try to "sucker" you.

Why does he have so many GOY's? Lock and loads? Outlaws? Machine Gun plays? :mj07: etc. Isn't that meant to sucker you in? If not, why have that? Think about it. Look how many people were "suckered" in on betting Fresno St. I know Ray had the best intentions of his pick winning, but when he put that GOY or that never post again label on the pick, it suckered people in. Look at how many hits a post gets if someone puts GOY in the subject line. Its all about attention if you "repeatedly" keep putting labels on your picks.

That said, if you wagered on his or anybody's pick and lost, its your responsibility. Bashing is uncalled for. I personally would never wager "big" on someones pick here at this site if they didn't take the time to write analysis on it. If someone has GOY or whatever, you think they would have a detailed analysis typed out for you. This site is meant to help people out, and if you are having a "major" play, why not help people out and explain why its a major play. Anybody can label a pick a GOY!

Fair enough Scott
I see your point.
I was trying to say was the record is immaterial in that you shouldnt bash him even if he loses 100 in a row because his INTENT is to try to help the board..
As for Outlaws and machine guns.. Hey TO dances in Stars and signs balls with Sharpies..
I chalk (no pun intended after tonight FSU loss) this up to his personal style
But I do see what you are saying.. I shouls of been clearer BUT it is 3 in the morning and i am tired

I know your post was meant to defend Raymond and I agree he doesn't deserve to be bashed. I was sorta giving an explanation why he is getting bashed because he is in a way intentionally "suckering" people in. You can't repeatedly TOUT every play and label them GOY's, lock and loads, machine guns, never post again plays etc.. Its silly if you ask me. The people who are upset are those who bet HUGE and lost more than they really could afford too. The other people who are upset are those who are jealous of the attention Ray gets and can use this moment to bash. Just waiting for one of his plays to lose. Imagine how many posters are waiting for Billy Blastoff to hit a losing streak.

Sorta off topic but I wish Madjack would create 2 capping forums for every sport. One where people can post plays without giving analysis (and 5000 unit plays) and another forum where people post plays with explanations being a criteria and records of handicapping. The analysis can be brief paragraph highlighting pts or a whole page worth material. I use the hoop forums to read analysis and I hate repeatedly opening posts with just plays inside and no substance. I learn nothing from that. Just my opinion.

Look, this bashing of Raymond is pathetic. Does anyone think the guy WANTS to pick a loser?

I bet all the bashers are liberals.....blaming someone else for their own decisions.

Leave the guy alone. If you don't want to coattail him don't, if you do, it's your responsibility, not his.

You are just a bunch of children.

Hey Scott, so he hypes up his big picks..BFD!!

Grow up.

Who cares about that? I know I don't? That would create chaos and I am sure Jack doesn't want that. A lot of people don't have time to spend on write ups, but handicap the games accordingly and PUT THEIR TIME INTO THAT. I bet a lot of people spend quite a bit of time capping the games and then post their picks at this site with no write ups, I know I have done this in the past.

I'll read write ups from time to time. I won't read your dim-witted USC rants with all of the FACTOIDS :mj07: Often I just come to MJS to see what people (certain posters) are picking. However, I do enjoy reading a good worthwhile write up from time to time.

As for Raymond leaving, I met Raymond at the SB party. One hell of a nice guy and a GREAT capper. I think he's fu/cking with all of you.

We do how ever have to look at the facts. :scared

Why do you think he doesn't have a service anymore

Because he lost his costumers :sadwave:

I sure it wasn't because he gave out too many winners ;)

this will be my only comment on this matter.

i am one of the original members of madjacks forum. i stumbled onto jack's site when i first started using the internet as a tool to improve my sportsbetting knowlwdge around 1998 or so. while the forum membership was much smaller back then, it consisted of a core group of older, experienced gamblers who welcomed the opportunity to share information and expertise on a common pastime. we reveled in each other's success, and supported each other during slumps. age and experience gave us the insight to understand that short-term success in this business was meaningless when compared to learning fundamentals that would increase the probability of long-term profitability.

now, commercial success has brought a much larger membership to the forum, and with it a much larger cross section of the gambling public, most of it the young and/or naive players that have little or no understanding of the math of large sample statsitics and probabilities. they have no grasp of the fact that even the best of sports handicappers can go through extended losing streaks, nor do they care. the prevailing attitude among many now is that those who offer up plays and opinions are obliged to provide winners and free money for them, and damn them to hell if they don't. every day i shake my head when i see posters who have shown insight and ability in this forum for years are trashed when they post a few losers, and then i watch in amazement as the lemmings all suck up to whatever new face with a dozen posts happens to throw up a short sting of winners. as a result, i rarely post plays any more even though i visit the forum every day to keep track of how my friends are doing.

when i say my friends, i mean that in concrete terms, as while many of the names in the forum are anonymous, disembodied screen personnas to most, they are real people to me, with faces, wives and families, real people that i know care about me, and that know i care about them. i am unable to fully articulate how much it pisses me off to see these friends bashed and trashed in the most vitriolic fashion by immature cyber passersby that will be broke and gone in a matter of weeks, if not days.

it's just a damn shame.

hopefully, but i highly doubt it, your post made sense to everybody and it cuts down on the bullshit we've been having on here lately.

we do go thru these things from time to time over the years, i'm sure you've noticed, and i'll have it all running smoothly again in no time at all. i just have to do a little weeding. ;)

thanks for the post and continued support, loop.

You are right that it would lead to confusion but my point was to find a way to separate or distinguish posts. Have some type of signal when a poster posts analysis. I never follow anybody here blindly so anybody who posts plays with no analysis is worthless to me. Maybe madjack can give posters an option where they click a button and to the left of the subject line is a red dot or something that lets everyone know there is some type of analysis typed. Sometimes you find posts with great analysis but they get buried because they don't have strong following bumping it up. All in all, I just wish there was some type of sign to separate posts that are informative vs posts with just plays. Nothing wrong with posting plays with no analysis (and I know time can be an issue) but nobody learns ANYTHING from that. I come here to be educated, not to follow someone blindly. Just expressing my thoughts that "could" make an already great forum better.

Trizzle

A "GREAT" capper? Whats his record? Why doesn't he post it?

I wonder too. Actually, few years ago someone on another site did post a documented record of his when he was a service.

loophole.............

as usual well said......

i spent some time with ray at this past super bowl get together & like him alot....very honest & straighforward...........& consider him a friend.

it truly amazes me the maturity (or immaturity) level of some of the people who post on theses forums........it must be a real pain in the neck for jack to constantly have to monitor the forum.

You east coast guys need to understand something about Univ So Cal fans/alumni...They aren't very bright...As long as your tuition is paid, you will get your degree...

At the public universities in CA such as UCLA, UCSB, and the Cal State schools, you have to EARN your degree.
