Scott,

Why would you reference threads that make you look like a total idiot?

Was it you who took my quotes and proved them to be BS? Was it you? Yep, sure made me look like an idiot. Nice defense!

You east coast guys need to understand something about Univ So Cal fans/alumni...They aren't very bright...As long as your tuition is paid, you will get your degree...

At the public universities in CA such as UCLA, UCSB, and the Cal State schools, you have to EARN your degree.

Incoming freshman students at USC have higher SAT scores and higher GPA scores than all of the UC Schools. Forget about the State schools. :mj07: Only Stanford in CA had higher academic incoming freshman. Get your facts straight!

So Cal
Flipper - I think you should know what you are talking about before you open your mouth. I attended both UCLA and USC, so maybe I have a better grip on this matter than you do. You don't just show up and pay your money to get a degree at USC. Same goes for UCLA. Of course, there are many exceptions - those exceptions being athletes. And that goes for both schools. UCLA is a very liberal school where your undergraduate classes might contain 400 students that never talk to their professor, only to a TA. At USC, other than the core classes that freshman and sophs take, there may be 50. Once you move to your major area of study the class size drops appreciably at both schools, but USC class size is still smaller. I thought UCLA was an excellent school. Their campus is far superior to USC's as is the great location. But people that constantly bash USC are no doubt doing so based on the education that the athletes get. The educational plan there is every bit as good as UCLA.

this will be my only comment on this matter.

i am one of the original members of madjacks forum. i stumbled onto jack's site when i first started using the internet as a tool to improve my sportsbetting knowlwdge around 1998 or so. while the forum membership was much smaller back then, it consisted of a core group of older, experienced gamblers who welcomed the opportunity to share information and expertise on a common pastime. we reveled in each other's success, and supported each other during slumps. age and experience gave us the insight to understand that short-term success in this business was meaningless when compared to learning fundamentals that would increase the probability of long-term profitability.

now, commercial success has brought a much larger membership to the forum, and with it a much larger cross section of the gambling public, most of it the young and/or naive players that have little or no understanding of the math of large sample statsitics and probabilities. they have no grasp of the fact that even the best of sports handicappers can go through extended losing streaks, nor do they care. the prevailing attitude among many now is that those who offer up plays and opinions are obliged to provide winners and free money for them, and damn them to hell if they don't. every day i shake my head when i see posters who have shown insight and ability in this forum for years are trashed when they post a few losers, and then i watch in amazement as the lemmings all suck up to whatever new face with a dozen posts happens to throw up a short sting of winners. as a result, i rarely post plays any more even though i visit the forum every day to keep track of how my friends are doing.

when i say my friends, i mean that in concrete terms, as while many of the names in the forum are anonymous, disembodied screen personnas to most, they are real people to me, with faces, wives and families, real people that i know care about me, and that know i care about them. i am unable to fully articulate how much it pisses me off to see these friends bashed and trashed in the most vitriolic fashion by immature cyber passersby that will be broke and gone in a matter of weeks, if not days.

it's just a damn shame.

Best post I have ever read at Jack's place. Although I don't agree with Ray's style of capping/picking, I don't see the need to bash him either. He posts his picks and stands by them. Much more than a lot of people do here and I admire him for it.

Thanks.

On the course!
I have shared Loopy's sentiment from the onset here at Jack's.

I've said it before. When you meet some of the "family", you realize they are good people. There are far too many piss ants who come in and trash the place. They offer nothing, and leave in due time.

I know why some people get upset about Raymond, and to an extent, I understand it. Some people don't understand why Ray is liked. Some people see Ray posting picks and losing more than winning. Then they shout, "Why do people adore this guy?"

Well, first and foremost, he doesn't piss on anyone! The guy takes a beating from a ton of guys, and just goes about his day. Most of us would shoot back a couple of f-bombs, and the pissing match is on.

I know plenty of you look at a post that is by "RAYMOND", and it will have 500 hits. It pisses you off! Too bad! I honestly don't know how he got cult status around here, because I have never seen any great rush of winners comming out of his corner, but he does have that following.

Perhaps it is because he is an actual person, and not just a screen name?

I met Ray, and I liked him. He is a good shit, from the little time I spent with him. It's hard to knock a guy who means well.

As for his record? I don't think even Ray wants to know that! ;)

BUT NO, BECAUSE OF THAT ANTI-SOCIAL BITCH YOU CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND, YOU DIDN'T GO HANG WIT THE BOYS THIS YEAR IN VEGAS. WHAT WAS YOUR LAME ASS EXCUSE? OH YEAH, SHE DOESN'T KNOW ANYONE AND SHE WOULDN'T HAVE A GOOD TIME. GET A GIRL THAT HAS HALF A PERSONALITY AND WHO ISN'T AFRAID TO MEET NEW PEOPLE AND MAYBE YOU'LL GET TO SPEND MORE TIME WIT RAY.

Tara,

It doesn't matter what he says, because he isn't a real person. He is just a name on a board.

Remember....the biggest smack talkers are the ones whom you will never see.
