I'll split it with ya.

Then you won't have anyone to point out to you when you get conned again. I won't have the net in Ven because i will probably be driving my new pal Chavez around. Guarding him with my life so he can keep putting the people of his nation first.

I say this for a number of reasons. If oil were nationalized, it would be a government corporation for the people and by the people. This American corporation would work for the people rather than a select few billionaires in a boardroom somewhere. On top of that, any profits that the nationalized firm makes can go toward developing technologies for greater American independence, such as fuel cells, ethanol and oil shale.

It is safe to say that nationalized oil is the wave of the future. Why should the government settle for letting a wealthy corporation take billions in profits while it takes only a teeny fraction of that in royalties? Other nationalized oil firms, such as PEMEX in Mexico and PDVSA in Venezuela, pump any profits they have straight back to their governments, and hence, the profits go to their people. With America?s current system, instead of helping ourselves, we help a select few. I?m not against companies making a profit, but I can see no reason Exxon?s CEO, Lee Raymond, should receive a $400 million retirement package while we pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas. Wouldn?t it be nice to know that when you fill up at the gas pump, a little of that money that you spend, in some little way, goes right back into your pocket? -Jesse Thomas

Spy stop this crap. Don't you know a lot of these guys protect these billionaires rights? Didn't you know they invented this oil?

you`re a marxist/socialist...and that system`s failed everywhere it`s been tried.....

this is the system in which a chavez tried to get himself elected leader for life...thankfully,he couldn`t pull it off....

now, with the venezuelans` elections coming up,there are reports that the state run media is suppressing and in some instances jailing the opponents of chavez` party...

that may be what guys like YOU would like to see here in the u.s.....

but thankfully, even though the left and the right have deep seeded differences, most understand that socialism is a failed political concept...

heres hugo`s latest attempt at an open and free society...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,363761,00.html

the great part is,you, and spongy,as american citizens, can speak out, leave or do as you please....not so in many of your beloved socialist, closed societies....

count your blessings....

The free market has failed under Bush. It is not a free market if itis being manipulated for the profits of a few. That is exactly what we have in oil. Our national security is at stake. It is time the government stepped in and put some rules on these guys.

With Venezuela having a 40% poverty rate, could you show us where exactly those profits are going to help the common man down there?

I move that we nationalize all professional sports teams, and Hollywood. They make a lot of money that they can't spend it all in one place.. and hey, we can just give them 50k yearly salaries so they are like johnny next door.. then the gov't can take the rest of the money and give it back to the public and help offset the cost of oil.

When I pay 10 bucks to see a movie, it would be nice to know that I am not lining Brad Pitt's pockets with money, instead I could see it back in my pocket.

And you're a fascist. Let big companies run things for a profit. Where has America gone?

Talk about voter suppressing, have you ever heard of caging? This is happening right here in the USA. The People who show other countries how to hold elections, meanwhile do not hold legal elections in their own country.

"Was there a White House plot to illegally suppress votes in 2004? Is there a similar plan for the upcoming elections? This week NOW examines documents and evidence that points to a Republican Party plan designed to keep Democrats from voting, allegedly by targeting people based on their race and ethnicity with key battleground states like Ohio and Florida of particular interest. "It was a partisan, discriminatory attempt to challenge voters of color," Eddie Hailes, a senior attorney for The Advancement Project, a civil rights group, told NOW.

the richest country on earth, we have 45,000,000 without healthcare. 30,000 a year die because they can not get the treatment they need to live. CEO's get 400,000,000 retirement packages while 300,000 people lose their jobs, one million people have lose their homes in the last year. This is the best system we in the US can come up with? I hope oil goes over $400 a barrel, maybe some of you will come out of your coma. There will still be you republicans who will stay with the system in place, even thou it will mean the death of you and your families.

I don't own a car, i don't care if oil goes over $300 a barrel. I do care that oil companies push our government along with Israel to invade Iraq and young Americans are losing their lives for them to make a profit. I care that McCain wants to bomb Iran because back in the 50's Iran nationalized their oil and didn't let the US have it so the US overthrown their Dem. elected gov. and put the shah in power and Iranian people kicked him out. That the nuclear power thing is just a cover story for payback for not getting their oil.

What reason do you think paying $4.00 a gal is good for the country? Don't you see that this is destroying the country? Why do you think paying a oil CEO 400,000,000 retirement package is a good idea? Maybe you think he earned it? The higher oil goes the better off this country will be?

How about what's going to be good for ALL AMERICANS! We are all still Americans or are we profiteers who feed off the poor, and damn everybody else.

America would benefit in so many ways! First the huge profits that have been accumulating could be used to offset the expense of the Iraq war, which was nothing more than an attempt to sieze oil for American oil companies. Why should we have to pay while the oil companies reap record profits?

Once completely nationalized, oil prices could be set at a much more reasonable price, and fixed there. That would tend to stablize world oil prices as potential profits get recycled into discounts to consumers.

The time is now to take control of our oil companies. The Russians realized this just before their oil assets got sold off. They re-nationalized their oil. Chavez will be next. How long before America wakes up and realizes that unless we do this, one day we will be the ones who can't afford to pay the price, as oil goes to those countries that can.

I was quoting this.
Been there.
Did that.

Maybe I didn't understand your meaning--giving the benefit of the doubt, there.
I don't think I understand anybody's meaning in this poliforum.

All I can suggest is some mind alteration.
Sure as hell beats altercation.
Take it to the bank.

Why don't they have healthcare--the poor are covered by medicaid--why did the 1 mill lose their homes--speculation or bit off more than they could chew--as interest rates (fixed) have been lowest in decades-- ie- best opp ever to buy home at affordable rate>

Glass 1/2 full or half empty--?

ahhh...comic relief at last....

these are the reasons that people from all over the world literally sell their souls....brave steaming deserts, stowaway on ships, set sail in makeshift boats...literally risk their lives to come to a place guys like yourself have nothing more than disdain for...

this is the one true place on this earth that "nobody" will get turned away for health care(as you know,no one is turned away and we all pay for the healthcare of those that "can`t' or "won`t" pay for their own).......the one true place that a man can literally "reap what he sows".....

you work hard, the sky`s the limit...yet,you can also be an anti-american slacker:)D ) or be a guy that slurs american heros from the safety of his mom`s basement ,and still do infinitely better than some poor hard working slob in a socialist society......

being around "whiny americans" like yourself is one of the reasons that i`m softening my position on immigration.....as i travel around,i see these south americans who have come to north america with little more than the clothes on their backs...willing to do menial, back breaking work for sub-standard wages.....seeing these people contributing, without complaint...wanting nothing more than to be left to their own devices to provide for their families,it harkens back to the "greatest generation"....our forefathers who came here for many of the same reasons and turned out to be the folks that literally made this country the greatest place on earth....

sure, the border needs to be secured...our language needs to be learned...assimilation needs to be accomplished...

but,i`ll take one of these hard working humble folks over 10 stw`s,spongys or scotties any day of the week...

you can`t even afford a "clunker"?

that helps explain your socialist attitudes...

Wease, you paint a great picture of the America we all love. Unfortunately when people are manipulating the market for their own personal gain we have laws in effect to protect ourselves from them. Many of us feel that we are just trying to protect the picture that you painted.
