there has to be an investigation...

this stuff is ruining boxing....corrales had 25 seconds to recover after the second knockdown.....

goossen is very slick......

this was as close to an obvious fix as you will ever see...by fix,i mean a ref acting to help one fighter.....

i didn`t even get my +150..if i had,i`d have been on a plane to vegas....looking for weeks...

guys like goossen ...all the big promoters.....get every advantage.....

and that galls me....

i noticed that after having castillo ahead early,2 of the 3 judges had corrales ahead late...and i thought chico was wearing down...still,that`s subjective...

the scoring wasn`t the issue....

this hurts boxing....

if i had been in castillo`s corner, they would have had to pry me off tony weeks with a crowbar.....

congrats to corrales players....you guys got a gift....

but,winning is the bottom line.....period....

glad for you guys...

that may be what bothers me the most....

i went to a site or 2.....and how you interpret the ending depended solely on who you liked or who you bet.....

that`s discouraging....

nobody in this country...or anywhere,it seems, has any inkling about fair play and integrity....nobody seems to have an objective bone in their bodies....can`t think for themselves....

that`s why our jury system is a shambles...celebrities getting away with almost anything...people are starstruck....

everybody has so many biases that nobody can be objective about anything...

..i played both guys inside the distance...so i don`t care....glad somebody got stopped....

but,if this had been corrales getting jobbed,i`d be bitching every bit as hard.....

have to say that i respect boxlocks for calling a spade a spade.....regardless of the betting angle....

what a fight...what a sad way to end it....

i wish one or the other had scored a clean one punch knockout...

you guys are knowledgeable, and this attitude is suprising. the ref penalized corrales for dropping the mouthpiece, the first time castillo knocked it out of his mouth. he did something he shouldn't he was penalized but it was not the determining factor here. if you think it is I repsect your differing opinion, but corrales rested until the count of 9 while watching the referee, then rose, put up his gloves and came forward. he did it both times and castillo made the mistake in the last round, was caught and paid for it.

to say this 'ruins' boxing is sour grapes, fights like these make boxing and this is the type of fight where even if you lose you should applaud the winning effort, if you don't then you aren't a fan, just my opinion.

corrales did score a clean knockout, castillo was defenseless and would have been seriously hurt.

am...you cannot rationalize giving a guy 20 seconds for the first knockdown...then 25 to 30 for the second...

rules,schmules.....if corrales had been given a nine count after the first knockdow...and no more....the fight is over.....

certainly after the second knockdown,he was out...he barely made it up at nine...he wasn`t sitting their waiting...he was totally on queer street...

the extra time turned the fight on it`s ear....

if you don`t see that, you are not objective...and afew other things i won`t mention..

I'm actually getting flack from guys at this other forum for questioning Weeks

The editor wanted to know what I think Weeks should have done, he thought dq'ing Corrales was out of the question and I agree.

I told him Weeks should have made Corrales fight without the mouth piece instead of letting him get away with it.

Thoughts?

it's all good. you and box are the most knowledgeable boxing investors I've found on the net. it's still my first year doing it and you guys have taught me a lot and I thank you profusely, we will have differences of opinions, like tonight but I'm always willing to shake off disagreements and getting back to the task at hand. we disagree here, I think the ending in no way subtracts from the fight and I apologize too if anything I said offended you.

next week's another great fight on tap, boxings on fire and the money keeps rolling in!

that's interesting to say that actually. it's ultimately a judgement call, and the referee's job is to protect the fighters, and letting him fight without a mouthpiece really isn't the way to do his job correctly, he has to get the piece back in sometime, and his judgement must have been a pause after the knockdown. maybe if corrales was more hurt he might have done something different.

i`ll make one more statement...and then call it a night.....

even if you allow for the mouthpiece replacement,it shouldn`t take goossen 10 or more seconds to get up the steps....and to instruct corrales....

weeks was very....very deliberate.... and i`m being very kind...

what galls me,is that the mouthpiece issue literally changed the fight...if not for the extra time, corrales surely gets knocked out....as surely as i`m typing this... no sane person can dispute that fact...he took the mouth piece out both times... to gain an advantage...

wtf good did taking a point do for castillo?...who gained what was possibly a fight winning advantage by fighting?...not spitting out a mouth piece...

is it the letter of the boxing law?...maybe....was it abused in this case?....certainly....

was not within the spirit of the rules....

i`m sure no one wanted the fight to turn on something like this..... unless of course you bet or are biased...

but it surely did....

i feel horribly for castillo...

castillo was in serious jeopardy of receiving brain damage if the ref let the fight go for one more punch...even when the ref initially stopped the fight you did not see any type of protest from castillo...all he did was clutch on to the ref, and it didn't even appear castillo knew it was the ref he clinching on to...his hands were down, head wobbling, and eyes were not on corrales...

mouthpiece trick was used against corrales by frietas in corrales last fight so i suppose that is where he learned that move. point was deducted for that, so corrales was penalized...

it was awesome to be there live for it.

the ropes kept castillo from going down in the 10th when weeks stopped the fight....

that`s technically a knockdown...

why no standing eight?....if corrales gets 28 seconds between knockdowns, why not allow castillo 8 seconds?....

he should have spit the mouthpiece out.....hell,from this point on,i`m having my guys spit the mouthpiece into the crowd...

now every fighter that goes to the canvas, will wait until the count of nine and then spit out his mouthpiece.........hell,from this point on,if i`m training,i`m having my guys spit the mouthpiece into the crowd...

a new startegy is born....

that will be great for boxing...

lord,if you can`t even get the result correct....if a ref can allow a guy 28 seconds in between knockdowns......then,change the rules.....do something...

lol, ropes weren't keeping castillo up...it was castillo's heart!!!...thank god the ref had the decency to do the right thing or else Corrales could have given him some serious head injuries in that situation...

if castillo was smart, he would have taken a knee to recoup, but he didnt, and that was all she wrote...

some fighters just wont go down no matter how bad they get beaten down. i take my hat off to castillo, but that fight was over at that point, and castillo gave the ref no other options since he didn't go down, and he was COMPLETELY defenseless.
