We return 15 of 22 starters, 8 of which started on the 5th ranked defense in the nation last year. Throw in arguably the best QB in the league and I am not sure how they dont start off where they are:shrug:

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. There shouldn't be any poll released until the third or fourth week of the season. That way you know what kind of team you are dealing with.

Some schools are ranked because of what they did last year. Some are ranked by how they should end up. Some schools are ranked because of the old and tired phrase "traditionally/historically a strong national team".

And my biggest pet peeve is there shouldn't be a Coaches' Poll at all. There isn't one single coach that has time to watch any other teams other than their own or the teams on their schedule. If they do, then their team probably sucks and are about to get fired.

End of rant.

actually no sooner than week 5 with all the cupcakes these supposed powers play in the begining of the schedule..

problem is the late poll doesn't generate enough bullshit conversation about absolutely nothing ..so the talking heads have nothing to bait the chowderheads who actually take these stupid polls seriously..

problem solved real soon though..

I'd put USC #1, although there are some depth concerns for them in the upwardly mobile PAC 12.

Okie #2 Got the bump b/c LSU is thin and inexperienced at QB

LSU #3 The team looks strong overall, but a new QB is always a concern. The OL, FB and stable of RB are as impressive as anything LSU has ever put on the field. The DL is deep as can be, and the DBs are all NFL caliber.

Bama #4 Tough to overlook the consumate reloaders they have been under Sabear. Reports indicate the team reported in as good of physical condition as ever. Sabear and his staff, an old friend of mine included, are a very motivational group. I can assure you those kids are not taking anything lightly. Bama's shot at a repeat is simply a matter of whether the new kids on defense can transition into their new roles.

I'd also vote UGA lower (quite overrated last year imo), Arky higher, Forida higher (Watch this team, the D will be sick), S Carolina lower.

Fla will be one of the teams I look to play on early and often as I agree they will be much better.

As to UGA, they were barely ranked entering the season and never made it above 15ish in the polls after reeling off 10 straight wins:shrug: Not quite sure how they were overrated but to each his own. Time will tell which of us is correct. Heres to a rematch in the dome.

WV is definitely overrated. They won't break the top 25 at the end of the season. They likely won't be any top ranked team on their schedule except MAYBE Baylor.

Sorry to be the one to break the news to you.

You do not have to be sorry, everyone is entitled to their opinions including this BS preseason poll. BTW
congrats on your 24th post in three years here :toast:

You saying Baylor would be the only ranked team from the Big 12 just proves how crazy your post is.

This is when you should start making wagers
on these teams also, for the same reasons.

Auburn surprised me... I don't think they are a Top 25 team right now... could be later on

I agree, they may start out 0-2 as they play Clemson and then in Starkville. New coaching strategy and young players should provide mistakes especially early on.

A big problem for both of our teams is that we have LSU, ALA & Ark on our schedules :0008

Would love to see a undefeated USC and a once beaten or undefeated SEC....Dream matchup....:0074

damn Bible Belt schools...always taking the crystal balls at the end of the season

:SIB

I think the top 4 should be LSU/Bama/USC/Oregon in no particular order.

Oklahoma and FSU are preseason warriors. Don't really think too much of either of these teams as far as NCG is concerned. Probably only one of them will reach a BCS bowl.

If UGA goes worse than 10-2 in reg season Richt needs to finally get the boot. Schedule is a cake walk. Sugar bowl bound worst case

Michigan will be the first top10 team to lose 2 games

Don't know if Texas is top15 other than the fact that "they're texas." Could end up 5-4 in B12 play

22-25 were just random teams that have been consistent in the past thrown in there in no particular order. well besides ND. Not sure why they still get overrated every year.

Agree with others preseason polls are garbage and just used for "Marquee Matchups of the Week!" for television stations. And to give the gelled haired talking heads something to blab about during wee hours of ESPN reruns

Just glad to be on the Football board again

UGA should be rock solid. OL play is a question mark on Offense though. I'd give the QB edge to Wilson over Murray.

With Watkins out, I think the line reopens at a pick (haven't checked to see since it went off the board) and that's where it should be. Clemson lost the majority of their OL/DL if I remember correctly. With AU's new style of Offense and getting back to physical SEC defense (instead of Ted Roof's "bend don't break sissy shit) this game is gonna be won or lost in the trenches. I think AU's DL is gonna be top 5 in the SEC this year. OL is a year older (lost a senior who was head and shoulders the worst lineman last year aj greene) and have Prosch to help them block as well.

As for MSU.... people been predicting us to get beat by them a lot in the last few years. Don't think it's gonna happen this year either.

LSU, Bama and UGA are auto-Ls :sadwave:

They still have a crappy coach so they should be knocked down a couple of notches for that. :142smilie
