Birkdale was fantastic. My golf was poor but had a very enjoyable day which I think will become even better come the 3rd weekend in July next year. Played some decent courses in my time, but got to say felt more welcome at Birkdale by all the staff from the pro shop to the bar and especially the starter than at any other course. They will be a credit to the Open although I suspect Tiger will hammer the course.

By the way, unless someone holes from the first left side bunker on 17, they aint going to get any closer than I did (pity it took me 3 to get out of the fairway bunker). :mj07:

Thought this might be of interest--it is rank of players (putts per Gir) in event that had the worst greens to date in 07--The Byron Nelson--
Might also be noted Verplank won and is 8/1 top 4 @ Oly

Rank is in reverse order (fewest putts+highest rank)

I need vijay to struggle. Hopefully the greens are a little firmer. His ball striking seems to be getting better.:nono:

12 shot swing!! Defending champion and world number 6 shoots 78 in final round. Funny old game, still at least the seniors keep me in profit. Annoying thing with that though, did like Eaks on a match bet but didnt bother due to the WD last week.
