White liberals dumb down their speech around African Americans in 'patronizing' effort to appear less competent, study says

White liberals speak differently to African Americans in a 'well-intentioned' but 'patronizing' way, according to a new study by Yale and Princeton researchers
?Liberals drew on racist stereotypes about minorities having low status when altering speech patterns to play down their competence and emphasize warmth
?Conservatives did not alter their speech in the same way, researchers found
?Researchers suggested that white liberals may be making the shift because they are aware of real and perceived differences in their own status and privilege

White liberals tend to alter the way they speak when talking to African Americans to make themselves look less competent, according to a new study.

The 'well-intentioned' but 'ultimately patronizing' shift in speech patterns suggests that white liberals are drawing on stereotypes about minorities having low status or low competence levels, according to the study to be published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

'There's a lot of research focused on biased individuals and how holding bias, especially implicit bias, can influence social interactions, but that leaves a lot of people out' said co-author Cydney Dupree, assistant professor of organizational behavior at Yale School of Management.

'My hope is that this work will help include well-intentioned people who see themselves as allies but who may be unwittingly contributing to group divides,' she added. 'There is a broader need to include them in the conversation.'

You don't believe in climate change, but you believe the Houston Texans covered the spread because their owner died?

You re a hoot!

I sure believe that the Texans won because they wanted to win for their owner who died 3 days prior. They won, covered and looked motivated to play to me, in his honor. You see, I live in Houston, I know what the fuck I am talking about, I listen to local sports radio everyday, before Rush comes on at 11

Climate change is such a hoax, do you still believe in Santa Claus too?

No, something different doesn't make you dumb. If you prefer raspberry ice dream and I prefer chocolate, that's a difference of opinion.

However when you believe something which is absolutely false, contradictory to knowable facts, like this -

Global warming is nothing more than a HOAX, AL GORE made it up to get rich

Then you are dumber than

Why would they want to win for a guy who is dead, and has no idea that they won?

Maybe they believe in Santa Claus?

This is the problem with being stupid, you just don't have what it takes to realize when you're wrong. If The Boys is your witness then your case is summarily dismissed.

You'll never have what it takes to realize why blindly pushing the Republican button (or Democrat button) makes you part of the problem. You said you've never agreed with a Democrat as to your justification to voting straight Republican. You do know some Democrats cross party lines and vote for issues brought forth by Republicans. You know why? Because it was the right thing to do and they recognize it.

You do know it was a Bush appointee to the SC that cast the deciding vote to pass Obamacare, right?

Also, you said you would bet the under in the coming XFL without ever seeing a line. You think because the NFL has all the talent the under is a lock. Again, you aren't smart enough to realize how stupid that is. You literally expect a "going out of business" sign on the front of every Vegas casino because the under in the XFL will be such easy money.

Have someone close to you with a double digit IQ explain it to you several times and see if you start to get it.

Do you ever wonder, even for a moment, why 95% of the people on here think you're an idiot? Sometimes the majority is wrong. I mean, Nancy Pelosi keeps getting elected, but in your case I think the majority has it nailed spot on.
