Oklahoma -9 over North Texas ****
Spent so much time on this game..I had the number at OU -10--11 so have to take OU.
NT is 8-0 avgs 80 pts a game and on defense gives up 55 which is ranked 6th i the country..that is a 25 pt differential...tops in the nation..but lets wait a mnute..NT has played cupcakes scoring 102,98,88,etc vs Angelo St,Humbolt ,Tex AM Commerce, and Maryland Eastern Shore....they are winning by 30-40 pts...the only 2 teams Potland and St peters they beat by 5 and 9...so there record and stats really have to be looked at...but they do have a good team.. Woolridge the pt gd is a 6'3 nice athletic..some freshmen have really played well..Umojo and Zack Simmons are freshmen and playing well..Duffy came out of nowhere last yr when they won the CBI tourney ..Smart the 6'3 scorer is back after missing out the 1st 7 games..he played the other nite and had 13 pts..he is the real deal and the best player in Conf USA...he can score against anybody..NT's problem is the front line..Zac Simmons is a frosh at 6'10 and by himself...they have no one inside and because of the weak schedule haven't needed an interior attack..well they need it tonight vs OU
OU inside has 2 big time rebounders that can also score ..6'10 McNeace and 6'10 Maneck..they also have Freeman at 6'9..Doolittle is a solid fd...but the best player o the court tonite is OU's James at gd ..he is avg 20 pts per game and one of the B-12's best gds..at the point they get grad transfer 5'10 from Maine Calixte..he he can play..will not let OU fans forget Trea but will excite...
With Smart back think NT can keep this close..but I'm sure Lon K can figure out how to beat NT..get the ball inside..James is so good and think NT's defensive stat ranking them 6th in the country gets jumps to in the 60's or 70's..OU has better gds, much better front court ranking 4th in the country in rebounding, shoots better more athletic and playing at home..NT in trouble tonite..think NT does well in the Conf USA and with Smart can beat almost anybody in the conf..but not tonite in Norman.

VT -3 over Penn St **
Pitt +13 over Iowa **

Ga South -4 over ETSU **
Hate going against ETSU but G-South has Tookie Brown the best pt gd in the country...if he started for Duke,NC or anybody else he would do just as good..I looked at my notes from last yrs GSouth Tex St game...he is 5'10 and this kid is going to the NBA..I had these teams almost even but playing at home and Tookie gives them the edge..also my notes say Ike Thomas can play too...

Ohio pk over Iona **
Same .Iona avg 80 pts and gives up 82...Ohio scores 73 and gives up 70...Last yr Iona beat them..but Ohio has 4 starters back and one of the best players i the MAC in Carter..they have a good pt gd in Kirk and and a big guy inside in Taylor..with a solid back court and better front court and playing at home..think Ohio can win this..

Temple -3 over Mizzou **
With Alston and Rose in the backcourt think Owls can win this on the rd.. Mizzou is so inconsistent..

South Dak +12 over Baylor **
Bears are young and will get better..SD has a lot of guys back from last yr..this is a big game for them coming to Waco vs a B_12 team..Baylor might just take them lightly and be in for a dog fight..Bears win but under double digits

Nevada -7 over Loy Chi **
Revenge game for Nev..they are loaded..Caleb is in the ozone..Caroline is tough..the other Martin is tough...they shoot almost 50% FG and almost 40% from the 3...I'm sure Sister Loyala will be there in her wheel chair but think Caleb might be winking at her as he scores...

Orlando.. i made some of these plays last night and early this morning..so lines are off..some go against me like the one you mentioned and some in my favor...I got Pitt at +13 now its +11...I capp and predict the day before or morning before...OU -9 stayed the same and that's my biggest play...my heart is with North Texas because I like their new coach..ever since NT fired Beneford now I really have to worry...he was a dream to good to be true..a few years back I was invited to a NT home game...all my buddies were there..think it was against Ark St...we were right behind the NT bench and listened to Beneford..at the timeout...he wasn't sure who was in the game..I was with my buddy Wolfie who played for NT is the early 70's...he was going to jump over the seats and get into the huddle and scream...but all my buddies don't know I have about $100 on Ark St..lol I miss Beneford..this new coach sucks because he's good...lol

Box; again nice job tonight. Do you try and post by a certain time each day (c.s.t.), or does it vary day to day? The write-ups are much appreciated, short or extended. You've got more info than the mag I subscribe to....

According to the line history that I saw, Temple was always an underdog. Starting at +3.5, going down to +1.5. I think Box made a typo, he probably got 3 and mistakingly wrote -3. He was probably 6-2, not 5-3. I think everyone who took Temple was a winner. Box, thanks for the write-ups and winners! Dl

But I posted wrong so I will take the loss...its no big deal...Old South has been a savior helping me...its nice not spending time going back and checking my record...I am always in a rush...going to see Rice-Tex St tonite..love those games..I miss going to see Marist games and since I'm spending X-mas here in Austin it will be the 1st time I don't see Marist play in +35 years...Going to the VCU ad Purdue game coming up...I'll catch you there..How is your wife doing? Hope she is doing better...

RU Ser..thanks for the comments..I have no set time...I'm all over..I try to post before the jump ball....have done so much better with Central Time over Eastern Time....think I only was late once or twice this year..... I do most capping the night beforeor early morning... After I come up with my lines I look at the vegas and off shore numbers...then I match them with my numbers..think that is what happened with Temple..the -4 was what I thought Temple should be..and I'll post that..it has happened before...so if Temple is getting + points I like that play...Temple has the best 2 gd tandem in the A-10..Mizzou is missing top scorer...I like Fran Dunphy the coach..I know him personally when he was at Penn..I would like to say he recruited some of my players when I coached but that would be a lie.. I had some talent but they didn't have the brains...think I also did the same with Neveda. I had Nev at -7 but it was really -4..so I'm posting my number instead of the real line..sorry..
I have not looked at the Rice-Texas St line... since I'm going to the game I have Tex St -6 to -8 tonite...over .Rice...also will play the over-under at around the 140's Rice can't shoot or score..Tex St plays great defense..Bobcats coming off some wins out on the left coast...so there up...think they have a lot of energy tonite...
So I will post this and come right back after I peek at the line...this will tell me where I'm going with the play..
Oklahoma did win and will look at the recap... thank you Old South...

Wow..Rice +11.. I like that a lot...the over-under is 143.5...have to play with that since I'm not an over-under player...have to check injuries etc but that line seem a little high...Tx St doesn't blow out anybody anywhere...but moving Tre from the pt to the 2 gd has really helped their offense...Pearson can now score from the wing position and attack...they still are avg in the paint...will post later but like Rice tonite

Box thanks for all your wonderful info and stories... kinda feel like I know you from reading them over all the years here at mjs...

I just checked rice game and Texas state just blew out 2 teams one being Portland that seems to be a decent team...

I know you know this team well was just wondering why you said they don?t blow anyone out... is that bc you consider Portland a bad team?

Anyway happy holidays and enjoy not being in the northeast (I?m from bout 20mins west of Newark airport in nj) weather sucks here rain every other day and the cold is coming... ugghhh

Budman..thanks
I should of clarified my statement .I have been going to Tx St home games for the past few years.. I never, ever remember them blowing anyone out by more then +10 pts..but most of those games were Sun Conf games...I do remember them blowing out the Oklahoma Panhandlers,Howard Paynes, etc at home..but never a D-1 team..I could be wrong though..they did well on the west coast winning by 23 and 28...its their style of play..they don't run up and down..Kasper plays a half court game...very few breakaway baskets...their defense is solid but does get a few extra def points because the use of the clock...this year think they will score more pts..Tre is a good gd and moving him to the 2 free's's him up..more importantly like I said before it lets Pearson out on the wing..that means they have 2 players that can create and penetrate from the sides..after watching them 2 weeks ago beat Air Force by 10 I am looking forward to seeing them tonite..they still are weak in the post. Terry is ok..Bobcats will do good until they meet a team with a bigger and stronger front line..they weren't tested this week on the left coast...and tonite Rice does have a few 6'8 players that might give them some matchup problems..Rice has one of the worst defenses ranking them in the 300's..will post later...I think Bobcats will win just not by 11.

What is up with Rutgers football...if you New Jersey people could keep your HS kids in state you would kick ass...NJ HS football and Hoops are outstanding...I have a prop bet that I lost Football Rutgers +3.5 wins..they played Tx St and won their 1st one...think I'm looking good after week 1...wow..lost that ticket
good luck,appreciate the kind words

You?re right about the nj athletes excellent talent, they all just can?t wait to go south or west warmer weather.. lol

As a retired principal I know you?ll be interested in this story. Google Union NJ high school principal scandal... my friend coaches the varsity basketball team... outstanding coach who loses a lot of homegrown talent to private schools otherwise probably be state champs year in and year out... anyway the principal pressured the AD to fire him because he was white and couldn?t connect with the kids... unbelievable, he?s an outstanding coach and even better man. Kids are lucky to have him. Big lawsuit now but anyway check it out.. good luck with your plays
