Round 2 play (2pts):

Pat Perez to beat Woody Austin -108 @ Unibet [also available @ Five Dimes, Carib, Pinnacle and WSEX]
Disappointing opening round from Perez considering that he worked at the course as a teenager and has played it over a thousand times. However, he does have a good bounceback record in the 2nd round, ranked 63rd (of 279) in 2nd round scoring average over the past 12 months while Austin ranks 172nd, almost a full shot worse on average. That dominance is also displayed by their head-to-head record: over the last 12 months, Perez has shot the lower 2nd round score in 15 of 18 common events. Five Dimes appear to be closer to the mark in pricing Perez at -125

2nd round at 5 dimes:

Immelman -135 over Zach J
Furyk-135 over Choi
Karlsson -130 over Romero
Jimenez -130 over Kaymer

also parlayed all 4 pays 8.48-1

also took Mick/Scott -138 over Tiger

after wrenching that knee on last hole and playing 2nd day in a row don't think he can beat both of these guys. GL

One play but not sure which rd--as I think they put up rd 3 by mistake which I'll take also--rarily bet under on scor prop but great odds and # quite high. Will put up results when graded to see which rd but will take either or both. A few with scor props out today but lowered odds and raised #s--sure would like the #'s again on 2 posted yesterday despite losing.
Still scratching my head on Ogilvy--had never busted par on this course in reg season--had never busted par in any U.S. open and managed both yesterday :)

What do you guys think of 2nd round matchup??

Mickelson -175 ov Scott A lot of juice, but Scott's hand is bothering him, it's Phil's course, etc.

Round 3 plays (2pts):

Stuart Appleby to beat Robert Karlsson -105 @ WSEX [also available @ Carib, Pinnacle and Bet365]
Appleby may be leading the event, but Karlsson is paired with Tiger and even given the Swede's purple patch of form, he will face enormous pressure today. As for Appleby, he is a proven front runner - he has held the 36-hole lead four times since the start of 2006, shooting 70 or less every time and increasing his lead in three of those four occasions

Mike Weir to beat Aaron Baddeley -111 @ Unibet [available widely]
After finishes of 3rd, 4th, 6th and 20th in four of the last five U.S. Opens, Weir may be expected to have been better placed than 42nd at this stage of the event. However he was unfortunate to have been playing in the afternoon group on Thursday when conditions were the toughest they have been all week, so he should be expected to improve his position over the weekend and should that over Baddeley whom he has beaten in four of the last five times that they have played together

Martin Kaymer to beat Andrew Romero +110 @ WSEX [also available @ Carib, Pinnacle and Bet365]
A good price for opposing Romero whose driving should be penalised more as the course becomes harder and the USGA make sure that the course is set up so as to ensure that under-par does not win the event - he yet to hit more than 50% of fairways in any round. Kaymer has been much better of the two recently as well as more consistently and that should also be of importance today

According to a USGA official walking with Ian Poulter's group, "no reason was given" for his withdrawal after 15 holes of the second round. Poulter had just missed a six-foot par putt and a six-incher that he backhanded before tapping in for a double bogey. At that point, he was seven over for the day and 14 over for the championship.

Poulter cut across to the 18th hole and walked down the fairway to the locker room, leaving his playing partners and fellow Englishmen, Paul Casey and Luke Donald, to finish as a twosome.

"Poults had some issues with his right wrist and you could tell something was wrong because he just wasn't compressing the ball, and the length of his drives weren't up to his usual standards," Casey said. "And he got tangled up in the rough a few times today. He apologized and said: 'For the best of my health, I'm going to have to go in.'"

Donald said that before he and Casey headed to the 16th tee, Poulter said: "I'm off, goodbye, good luck." But Donald said he had no idea why Poulter had quit.

The beginning of the end for Poulter may have come on the 504-yard, par-4 12th hole. Poulter was even par through his first 11 holes before his drive found the right rough at No. 12. Standing over his ball with a wedge in hand, he took a practice swing and moved about a pound of turf. The wheels in Poulter's head turned, but finally he addressed the ball, made a lashing swing and watched his shot squirt five feet forward and 10 feet left, landing in the first cut of rough.

That was it. Enough. Poulter took two steps, raised his club like an axe and brought it down head-first into the moist rough. He took a few steps toward his bag, and with the shaft still quivering in the ground, he spun around and presented his right middle finger to the divot he'd created.

After a moment, Poulter hit his third shot with a hybrid. The shot landed short and right of the green. From there, he pitched the ball across the green, three putted, tipped his visor to the crowd and walked away with a triple bogey.

Decked out in pink checked pants, matching pink shoes and a pink shirt, Poulter parred the 13th but double-bogeyed the 14th and 15th holes before withdrawing.

Saturday:

Mickelson(-1/2) over Scott(-130)
- - Even more surprising than the decision to abandon his driver and over-swing a 3-wood all day? ( http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/columnists/orl-whitley1408jun14,0,5524893.column?track=rss ) - Hefty's fashion choice on Thursday to wear a shirt so he could show off his guns to Tiger. :nooo:

Most amusing read so far . . .

" . . . Mediate hasn't won anything but friends on tour since 2002.

"The golf course is holding up beautifully," Mediate said. "I just like the fact that you have to put the ball in the fairway in this tournament, unlike a lot of tournaments we play.

"It's such a good examination of everything you've got -- especially in your head."

Mediate said the U.S. Open is his favorite tournament "because it's ours." It's also democratic. Mediate had to qualify by making birdie on a playoff hole at his sectional qualifier, in Columbus, Ohio.

"We're playing at 8 o'clock at night, I'm up against all these kids, there are 11 guys, seven spots, I'm 45 and I think the next-youngest is 31," Mediate said. "The rest are in their 20s and they outdrove me by about 50 yards on the first hole, I'm back there with a 9-iron, I hit it to 3 feet and make it. I don't know how much longer I could have gone.

"It was funny, though. As we're coming off the tee, I'm saying, 'C'mon, children.' "

Mediate will play last today, along with Appleby, who helped everyone identify the favorite late Friday night in the press room. "Hey, everybody!" Appleby said, as a guy in a Nike hat replaced him at the interview table. "This is Tiger Woods!"
