Man if you guys think Chael Sonnen is exciting
in any way, shape, or form
I just don't know what to say

He's like the girl in porno who just screams "oh, oh, oh, oh" for 15 minutes laying in one position

That may win fights, but to say that is pleasing to watch.....no way......
:nono:
it takes more than that to make me squirt

Sonnen was more active than usual and more than most wrestlers but come on.
HE DID NOTHING MORE THAN PROVE HE HAD MORE UPPER BODY STRENGTH TO GET TAKEDOWNS AND BULLY HIS WAY TO A WIN.

That is not fighting in my book.
Ground and Pound guys back in the day like Coleman,Kerr, and Tito would take you down and that shit was over because they would use the wrestling part of the fight to setup the beatdown part of the fight.
Guys like Guida and Sonnen get it to the ground and think if I can just hold him down then I got this round won.

LAME AND BORING!!

Also GSP may be a little boring at times but at least he willing to stand and trade with before taking it to the ground.
GSP is way more willing to stand and fight than other wrestlers.
Guida likes to swing early but the first chance he gets to climb on top of you he does and then never strays from it the rest of the fight.
Sonnen is looking to get it to the ground as quick as possible.

Keg i just don't see how u thought Sonnen just controlled Nate. I thought Sonnen did way more then a guy like Clay. That was the fight of the night on that shity boring card. I can kick myself in the ass. I almost take Chael and back off then i almost go against Gracie when those odds go to ten to one and back off again. That clip of Gracie that was produced here wasn't impressive at all but i didn't look at the other guys clip and didn't want to bet blindly. Chael was the first guy who looked like he was bigger than Nate in all the fights i have seen Nate fight. Swic did what Swick always does. Throw wild looping punches and if u can deal with his speed u can knock him out. How his trainers haven't picked up on this is befuddling. Mia fought a brilliant fight. Eeven said it himself on how he made it tough on himself fighting standup. Some of these fighters need a checkk up from the neck up. Jacksons camp is becomming very overrated in my mind. I like the way they game plan but does any of those black belts know a lick of submissions? They all seem to suck off their backs. At least Nate tried a kamora and choke. Stann was embarrassing and Gullard impressed himself more then he impress me.

Missed the fights but for the first time didn't care. The UFC needs to step it up, these cards aren't going to help the sport grow. Anderson being out, Brock being out and GSP(whatever he's been doing) isn't helping at all. You need your stars to fight as much as possible. What's happened to the LHW division? There should be at least one good LHW fight on ever card.

GSP needs to move up and fight one of the top 5 MWs. I have no desire to see him fight anymore WWs. Same with BJ, he may not be able to beat GSP but I would rather see him fight at WW than at LW and destroy people. Anderson needs to move up as well.

I also think there needs to be more financial incentive for exciting fights.

I'm pretty suprised Nate lost, it looks like he may have looked past Chael.

Sponge--
I have no clue why you thought Sonnen fight was entertaining. It was repetitive and predictable.
I said the only chance Sonnen has in this fight was lay n prey and all he did was a glorified version of that.
How many submission attempts did Sonnen try from being on top for 12 minutes?
How damaged was Nate after the fight from 12 minutes of ground and pound?

The anwser to both of these is very little.

If you want to give Sonnen credit for being bigger than Nate and capable of takedowns then ok but entertaining it was not.

Layinwood thoughts for UFC 110,111,112,113, etc...

No weight classes......throw every UFC fighter in a giant WWE Steel Cage and last one standing wins:mj07:

much as i hate it,gotta go with sponge here(and i had nate in a parlay)......sonnen`s a wrestler...not jits guy...or a master striker....

he did what he had to do withing the framework of his abilities...and basically imposed his will on a more well rounded fighter....

and they both weighed 185....

i give sonnen credit for literally dominating marquardt...cause that`s what he did...

gotta call a spade a spade...

I think there should be weight classes but GSP, Anderson and BJ are so far above the others in their weight class that it makes for bad fights. Why not let Anderson test himself vs the best at 205? I would much rather see him vs the top lhws over anyone at mw. The same goes for GSP. With his ability there is absolutely nobody beating in the WW division(ie Hardy, isn't GSP at 750 fav. As the espn football guys would say, COME ON MAN). Throw him Maia, Maia won't do anything but try subs on him from his back. How about Chael, we would definitely see how good GSPs wrestling is in that fight.

I like all of those guys but I would rather see them tested and lose than beating the crap out of fighters that really aren't a challenge to them.

I haven't made a play in MMA this year, haven't see one fight I like yet. I do think 110 has some good fights to bet on. I think Cain has a very bright future in the UFC but fighting Nog at this stage in his career might be too much. I think getting Nog at almost a pickem is a gift.

I agree with this too, sorry. Sure it was repetitve and easy for him to take Nate down, but Nate had no answer for this at all, and Sonnen was at least trying to pummel Nate while on top, it wasn't like he wasn't active for the most part.

I agree he dominated Nate and kept Nate from fighting his game which is how wrestlers get wins in the UFC.
Some blame falls on Nate for not being able to prevent the repeated takedowns and much credit goes to Sonnen for the ability to get takedown after takedown.

None of this changes the fact that the wrestling guys(Sonnen included) are boring to watch.
