This happens a lot in boxing
one guy gets a rematch with a guy who whooped his ass years ago
Often, the idea is that one guy has made "dramatic" improvements (Alves), while the other has stagnated or dropped off (Fitch)

A few years back, Cintron was supposed to have a great chance to avenge his loss to Margarito. In the first bout, Margarito embarrassed him and knocked him out. Rematch? Margarito embarrassed him and knocked him out.

I know Alves has looked better, but I give Fitch a very good chance to repeat here. They both were not close to beating GSP. You can't judge how they faired against him. You really have to look closer, in my opinion, at the first Alves-Fitch match. A lot of times, one guy just has the other guys number.

People are counting out Fitch too easily here

He's already done it once, why couldn't he do it again? I wonder if Alves wrestling has improved that much since their last fight because in that one Alves was Fitch's little rag doll.

was their last fight pre-alves` stint as a genetic chemistry guinea pig?......

Wease with an astute observation. That might have been the fight that sent him into the chemical world.

hmmmm?.....my initial opinion was that i was diasappointed in fitch vs pierce.....but pierce is an elite wrestler,too...and stronger than fitch....

there are some serious variables to consider in this one...but it`s one of those fights that you just can`t resist betting....

can fitch impose his wrestling again?...even though he`s a solid striker,i`m not sure he wants to stand with the new alves...

i`m a fitch fan....but both fitch and alves are a solid step below gsp(god forgive me for admitting that)....,

fitch is tougher,imo...but alves more diverse...

this is a pretty damned interesting card...ellenberger/saunders is another toughie...

i think alves is about 15 heavier now and i think his takedown defense has improved as seen by his stopping koscheck, who i believe has better takedowns than fitch.

since his fight with fitch, gsp is the only guy to take alves down and he wasn't able to hold him down.

even in a 5 round fight, alves was able to maintain his endurance.

i don't see fitch being able to bully him around although i think he'll have more success than koscheck due to fitch having a more smothering style.

edit

my mistake, both karo and hughes were able to take alves down once each, but they were unable to hold him down.

I thought the Koscheck fight was pretty quick but not sure. Kos shows his ignorance all the time because he wants to stand and bang. Muhr I thought the same as u when i first viewed this fight. The talent level between the two has certainly got a lot closer. Each guy improved and i think Alves a touch more. This really is a close fight. I think Fitch is a little slow with his takedowns (compare to GSP) and this could be a problem this time with a more hungrier Alves. That chin of fitch tho makes me want to give him the slight edge. Really is close to call.

gmroz22......kegray ain't gonna like that comment.....that means he'd have to say something positive about Dana.

This card is stacked.

And any card with GSP is a great card:142hump:

Also.......kegray has about 8 billion dollars on Mir so he has to thank Dana for "the gift":)

Anyway......GSP is back......need to tuck him in.

I won't put a cent on Mir after hearing his interview with Larry Pepe. Mir thinks Velasquez should fight Lesnar next "if" the winner in his fight is injured. pepe didn't say shit about anyone being or getting injured. Is Mir going into this fight with a nagging injury???? I don't want to pull a Sponge....but, something smells fishy.

I don't believe the ufc is rigged at all except when it goes to the judges some of the times. Now other sports? I have to think people are blind if they can't figure it out. when i was younger i once handicapped a game for 48 hours. A team getting three got beat by 50 points :mj07:

I already have this in

Almeida -150 2units

Adding

Fitch +140 3units

I'm going to start adding action bets(they'll all be 1/5 unit plays) but I'm going to keep it separate from my normal bets. These will just be for the fan and gambler in me.

Carwin +130 .5unit
Drwal +210 .5unit

The Fitch fight will be close but he'll get the decision, it might be because he guida'd Alves but a wins a win.

I like Carwin here. If he gets one good punch then we know it will knock Mir silly. I really think Carwin wins standing but could possibly gnp his way to victory. I don't think Mir has the power to KO him so his only way to win is off his back.

I really like Drwal but couldn't pull the trigger on a normal size bet. He has heavy hands, a good chin, good sprawl and was strong at LHW so I'm thinking he'll be very strong at MW. He looked great in his first fight at MW but I agree with Sponge in the fact that Palhares is a very good fighter, I just like the odds I'm getting.

War Hardy! kurby lol
