Explosive UFC light heavyweight, Phil Davis has been speaking about his upcoming fight at UFC 112 on April 10th in Abu Dhabi against Alexander Gustafsson, explaining the man from Sweden doesn?t have a hope when it comes to defending his takedowns.

Speaking via UFC.com, Davis said:

?I?m not preparing for the guy who can?t stop my takedowns. I?m preparing for the guy who is going to let me take him down so that he can try to submit me. Or the guy who, like my upcoming fight, somebody who is probably going to try and throw hands, left and right, to try and keep me away from him.?

?I need to train for these guys, not the guys who can?t stop my takedown and who I can impose my will on. No, it?s when everything goes wrong, what?s your number two move? What?s your number three move? You have to really study the game and get good at everything.?

Mostapha Al Turk beat Jon Madsen $3.45 (+245) *1.5 Joe Rogans

Nick Osipczak beat Rick Story $2.40 (+140) *1 Joe Rogan

Rafael dos Anjos beat Terry Etim $2.20 (+120) *1 Joe Rogan

Kendall Grove beat Mark Munoz $2.55 (+155) *1.5 Joe Rogans

Renzo Gracie beat Matt Hughes $4.40 (+340) *1 Joe Rogan

Hughes/Gracie goes 3 round distance $2.45 (+145) *half Joe Rogan

I think both Hughes and Gracie are "on their last legs", worth a shot on Gracie at those big odds.

Mostapha Al Turk pretty much stinks, but I am not impressed with Madsen either, worth a shot at the big odds.

I can't stand Grove, but he should be able to get it done against Munoz. Munoz is one-dimensional, Grove has more to his game, the odds are outta wack in my opinion.

Kick, I'm suprised you didn't mention that Gracie was training with your man whore and that's one of the reasons you're taking him.

"the bunker"
hmmm...do i pay the freight for the most pedestrian ufc card in eons or do something constructive saturday, get the results from mma junkie and settle in and watch boxing saturday night?...

this interntional outreach into ridiculous locales is becoming absurd for the loyal ufc fanbase....britain?..fine...australia?...fine...japan?...fine...

12 noon?...that means the prelims start around 9 a.m.?....riiiiight..

this is dana and the ufc saying,"hey, look at us...we`re so popular all over the world"...when in truth(as muhr`s video indicated),next to nobody (aside from some f-cking sheikh with more money than god) in abu dhabi gives a rat`s ass about the ufc....

who is the home draw?...the fighter that engenders local interest in the card?...mustapha al turk?...

no knock on abu dhabi...i`m slamming the ufc and white...this guy`s ego is way outta control...

i hope they take a hit on this one...

I keep reading on every forum how Gustafsson is "live" and how he is gonna "light Davis up on the feet"

But the video I see of this kid....what am I missing?
He looks like a sloppy brawler....how is he going to keep this thing standing? I think Davis is going to dominate this fight on the mat

Gustafsson KO'ed Hamman in his one UFC fight, but if you watch it....it's pretty suspect
Hamman was doing well, then there is a break in the action by the referee....the fighters touch gloves to resume, and then immediately Gustafsson hammers him with a straight right....Hamman should have been defending himself better....very smart of Gustafsson to take advantage of the opportunity....but I don't see something like this happening Saturday

Maybe some of the European madjackers can put me in my place here. Is this guy better than the footage in the fight suggests?

If this is how Gustafsson fights all the time, I think Davis is gonna run right over this kid. He doesn't look any better than Stann, to my eyes.

Here is the Gustafsson-Hamman bout:

I just worry that Davis may be "buying the hype". Not worth taking Davis as such a huge huge fave. And by the way Gustafsson ain't no slouch, the guy does have some solid stand up. I think Davis has a great future, but the dude is getting hyped and that can backfire:scared

I agree. Hype can be very bad for a young prospect.
See Ryan Ford. Yikes.
But this kid seems to have to goods. And I'm not sure Gustafsson is going to be able to end this on the feet before he hits the floor. At least each round starts standing-that's 3 chances at least.

davis seems to have a pretty level head based on the link you posted earlier. i think he might be parlay material.

I agree muhr
I like him in this spot
In my opinion, Stann is a better fighter than this Gustaffson

Gustaffson and Grove both have same level of takedown defense aka close to none :mj07:
Those tall and skinny fkrs too easy to take down , especially if they are facing powerful wrestlers like Munoz and Davis :142smilie

this is what confuses me
on sherdog boards, people are talking about how Gusta has incredible takedown defense and how he will KO Davis
bullshit
where is the evidence of this takedown defense?
All he did in the UFC was KO a guy in a minute
this fool is gonna be on his back early and often

Veach - 325 ? I mean Kelly isn't GSP but he is a decent fighter , Veach wastes all energy in 3 minutes . As far as I can remember he could have lost to Grice or whatever his name was . He had some nice slams on Edgar but he is wild as hell , wouldn't be shocked at all if he jumped into a guillotine , triangle or got knocked out :mj07:
Everybody is assuming he will take Kelly down , lay there and get a decision . I am not sure he can do that . Do or die fight for both , either might get dropped if they lose .
