penn gasssed as usual in the 3rd....the fact that fitch couldn`t win this convincingly is a bit of an embarrassment...

excellent efforts from ebersole/gustafsson/siver and fukuda....

great night of gambling...still shaking my head over nick ring`s win...he looked absolutely clueless...trying to figure out how he scored enough to win that fight...

GW, nice catch man. I don't know what the hell that was. Either he's hurt or that's his new "gangsta limp."

Either way it doesn't matter to me. Everyone always talk about fighters failing to evolve and IMO BJ is one of them. His game is basically to stand in front of someone and bang with them. IMO he should clinching and making guys worried about going to the ground but he doesn't. He's very predictable.

Now watch, he'll come out with a whole new game plan for the first time in (GW, wait for itttttttttt) a GABILLION years.

Well F me front back and sideways. He finally came out with a new game plan. LOL, better than a loss I guess.

just perused several of the major mma boards...and it`s amazing to me how some insist that ring won that fight...and cite "fightmetric" or something(utter nonsense) as their reason...

"fightmetric" or "punchstat" or whatever you want to call it is garbage....it`s useless in scoring a fight...you can`t just count strikes with some stiff, rigid, definitive scoring mechanism....

if you watched that fight, all ring`s hand strikes were extremely weak...he wasn`t committing..he was pulling back and not getting leverage on anything....it was like watching a karate competition in which you score if you touch your opponent...

apparently fukuda must have hurt him somewhere along the line because from the second round forward,it sure looked like ring was in survival mode...as sson as fukuda threw anything, ring put his hands over his face and did a standing turtle defense...

he scored some kicks...but even the ones that landed were "safety first" type strikes...he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible...

i lost a ton of respect for ring`s skill level and "want to" last night...after watching that fight,i was left wondering just how he beats any top level ufc fighters...

he fought so carefully...committing to nothing...no takedown defense...he was out-grappled...fukuda was walking through him...walking him down...

i`m waiting to hear that he was injured in some manner early...if not, that was a very diappointing performance...i nearly put a wager down at +105,but a fukuda`s youtube tapes showed a strong wrestling base and that always scares me....

ring was a real disappointment...particularly his stand-up...4-1 as a boxer?.....that`s hard to believe...

There is no fucking way Ring deserved the win. As you mentioned, those "fightmetric" stats are BS. A half-assed foot stomp is equal to a clean uppercut in that system. I'm sure they make for great conversation at parties, but in scoring a combat sport, they are worthless.
