I agree with your assessment on being flat-footed, but I don't think that is going to matter. Cormier seems willing to absorb leg kicks in order to clinch and grab a single-leg or improve his takedown position.

...

He may seem willing to absorb them but he's never had to worry about it. Nobody he's faced has made him pay for it. I'm not sure anyone he's faced really use kicks in their arsenal.

Him training with Cain isn't something that matters to me. Cain doesn't have the leverage that Jones has. The height and speed are hard to duplicate.

Maybe I am misunderstanding leverage in an MMA aspect, but Cain seems to have better leverage at keeping his opponents up against the cage, separating and banging, and then back into the dirty boxing style... I think it was Cain/JDS 2 that was the fight I was so impressed with.

I locked in Cormier +135 for ten units, hoping the line gets better by fight-time.

seems like the question is,can cormier walk through hell get his hands on jones, take him down and keep him down?.....

I think jones` kicks and how cornier reacts to them will be a huge factor......jones is very tough to take down, but cormier is probably the strongest guy jones has ever faced...he can(just with his brute strength) pick a big man up and throw him to the mat without having a decided leverage advantage in the clinch....at least early on when he`s fresh...

but....can he do that in the 3rd,4th and 5th rounds?....when and if cormier takes jones down,he has to make it count...wear down jones....because in trying to get to jones,he`ll be taking more heat than he`s ever taken in any fight...

anybody that says they have a handle on how this plays out is blowing smoke,imo....cormier hasn`t been tested(he`s made every fight look incredibly easy)....and the one time jones struggled was vs another long, tall striker....jones has manhandled every wrestler he`s faced....of course, none are on cormier`s level....and cormier`s never faced this kind of offense from a guy with so much height and reach advantage and diversity of offense....

the line is indicative of just how ??? this fight is even to the most knowledgable peeps....

This is the first match since Machida/Weidman that has me amped up enough to pay for a fight. I like Cormier a lot, but I think I dislike Jones more. Can't wait to see how it plays out. Maybe open with Cormier doing a Lesner Bull Rush?

I usually look for a "relatively" live dog with a return on investment that seems worth the bother....looking at this newbie garbrandt....he fights with the alpha male crew, has some wrestling background and amateur boxing.... apparently has big power for a little guy.......and great tats:shrug:....

brimage is verrry slick,though.....and experienced...

heres some video of garbrandt.....I didn`t like the way he leaves his hands down when on the offensive...brimage is slick and smart enough to take advantage of that defensive lapse.....

big experience gap.....thinking about going very small at +170 for some action...

take a look....tell me what you think...

I've fallen for all the drama like a little school girl - Looking forward to the weigh in and fight tomorrow.

Jonny's only loss was to a wrestler :0003:0003:0003

But I think Bones gets the job done tomorrow.

If DC does get the win, I don't see him stopping Jones unless he lands a big overhand. Showing DC by decision at +325 - That seems like the best value to me but I'm passing on the main event so I can just enjoy it

Best of Luck to y'all

Marion Reneau (135.5) VS Alexis Dufresne (138*)

*Dufresne missed weight and will be fined 20% of her purse.

watched the weigh in....thought the 3 inch garbrandt height advantage might seem more pronounced...

after thinking about it,i`m not taking garbrandt...not enough experience for me to wager on him...I`m sure he`ll fight hard and will probably give brimage trouble...but this is such a jump in opposition and the fact that this is his first ufc event......

should be a good fight,though...

I thought that cormier was in the best shape I`ve ever seen him in.....but some guys are just naturally thick and losing too much weight can bite them on the ass fighting at this level....cormier`s so good he can beat lesser guys and probably not be at 100%....he`ll have to be 110% here...

I though before the line posted we might get +200/250 with cormier....lol..obviously I was dreaming/wrong....at these odds I`m thinking about jones....as I said, big cormier fan...but I don`t see anything on Cormier's resume even remotely resembling what jones brings to the table(with a 12 inch reach advantage to boot).... but oh that wrestling and strength...cormier is sooo strong...

I`m just gonna watch and enjoy it

Dunham looked awful at the weigh-in, but I'll admit I don't know much about Damm. Also I love betting against those who miss weight, so good luck on the chick. Also really hope Cerrone doesn't start out slow, and I don't see Jury finishing Cerrone... LOVE YOUR PARLAY THOUGH. Hope Castillo doesn't screw you :( think Felder is a pretty live dog.

I like that cat, and he looked much bigger and in the zone during the weigh-in vs Brimmage. All I could think is that he was dropping his hands, but a lot of that can be masked if he threw in a few more uppercuts... but good enough to get me for a unit. Good luck man.
