The mental let down has to be so insane. It has to be like an adrenaline dump. You work so hard and train so long for 1 guy. 1 guy that there's more personal interest than you normally would have in a fight. I don't know how he could show up on Saturday and have the same focus, but wow...Silva? Awesome replacement and props to Silva for stepping up and props to DC for willing to fight. So many fighters would bail out. But I like the mentality of these two. Any time, any place, anywhere.

No props to Silva, he's a fucking cheater just like Jones, fuck him.

Is Sage Northcutt still a 'rising star,' or did his soft tap out erase that? I wanted to like that kid a lot, because of how annoying positive he seems to be.

Now Im reading stories about him, his prep for the fight and Northcutt is able to say with a straight face that he lost the fight because of a bout earlier in the week with strept throat.

?I guess I could have pulled out of the fight,? Northcutt said in one of his more contemplative moments. ?I had a strep throat and if you?ve ever had a strep throat, you know the feeling where you don?t even want to get out of bed. I had a recurrence of it. Two days before the fight I had a relapse that was so bad the UFC took me to the emergency room. It was pretty bad.?

Anyway...Northcutt is fighting Enrique Marin, a runner up from 'The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2,' who snapped a six-fight winning streak with his split-decision loss to Erick Montano in the tournament final back in November. The 29-year-old Spanish fighter has five submissions in eight career wins.

So Id assume Northcutt gets a softball here, and is a heavy fave at -340.

Would enjoy reading your thoughts on this one. Thanks.

I would not touch Northcutt at those odds, especially after his last fight.

Anderson Silva, one of the most technical fighters of all time, on short notice, +345?

Cormier, trained for months physically and MENTALLY for a different fighter?

I haven't bet a UFC fight in a long time, but you'll never get even money type odds like this.

Anderson Silva +345, $500 to win $1725

Eek man - good luck. Crazy stat of the day: Anderson hasn't won since 2012! Bisping loss, Diaz overturned, Weidman 2 loss, Weidman 1 loss. Here's what I see... Anderson has never really had the best TDD - when he was younger he used his ability to keep fighters at range and his feet movement to keep at bay. That's since diminished because even Weidman could take him down with relative ease. I also think those strange angles and that deceptive KO power from short range has been nullified as well. Even if not, Cormier has never been KOd, and he was knocked down by ROIDED JBJ. Lastly, I think if Spider gets taken down, he'll try his BJJ of course, but you're not going to have Cormier sit in his guard, ala Sonnen, so I don't think the triangle is there.

Good luck on your bet though. I'll be watching afar.

Stats are overrated to me. Just look at the Cavs/Warriors thread. I don't look at things from the outside and just judge based off a stat line. The fight against Diaz was a win, whether it was overturned or not, he won the fight. The losses to Weidman are both fluke losses. Name the last time someone broke their leg....I'll wait for that one. How often fighters get caught with that flash KO? Don't worry, Aldo/Silva/Rockhold, then who? I'll wait for that as well.

Now, I'm not defending the guy as to say he's going to come in and run through DC. I'm just saying the FIGHT WITHIN THE FIGHT makes it ridiculous that Silva is almost 3.5 : 1....I'll take those odds all day every day no matter who he is fighting. Cormier's mental dump has to be huge. This wasn't DC versus Josh Barnett getting cancelled. This was the biggest fight of DC's entire life. He had to be so mentally laser focused it's incredible to think the array of emotions he's going through right now. Then on 2 days notice he has to put a game plan together? Sure, AS has to as well. But AS is no stranger to this type of scenario, on top of the fact that he's got more than 2x the amount of fights as Cormier.

Personally I think Cormier will definitely try to use his size and strength and use the same game plan he had against Dan Henderson. Hell, it might work. But 3.5 to 1 on the greatest MMA fighter of all time, one of the most technical fighters of all time, on 2 days notice, against a fighter who's mentally fucked right now? You just don't get very many opportunities in the better world like this.

This fight goes 2 ways IMO. Anderson via decision making it a distance/technical boxing match. Or Cormier wins via decision just taking Silva down and trying to overwhelm him and smother him. I would be very surprised if anyone gets finished.

LOL this isn't 1999 when these guys are knowingly taking the basic steroids.

Come on kickserv, don't be so closed minded to think that everyone who gets popped is taking things knowingly. There is no way that Jones took something knowingly and exuded the mannerisms that he did this entire time.

The biggest issue I'm starting to see is that there are so many supplements out there and you just never know what the hell is in the stuff. I have a friend who's a body builder and I have a friend who's a nutritionist. It's amazing listening to them both talk about supplements, sponsors, etc...They really opened my eyes to how easy this stuff can happen.

Silva knew he was cheating, don't give me that "he didn't know" bullshit, Anderson absolutely knew he was cheating....fuck him.

As for Jones, fuck him as well.
