I'm picking Sylvia as well.

Also, I'm going with Okami over Macdonald. He's much stronger and a superior wrestler. Macdonald has good subs, but Okami hasn't been subbed in 20+ fights and he went unsubbed in ADCC 2007. He lost by points to the eventual tournament winner Maia, who will be debuting at UFC 77. It goes without saying that Macdonald has bad standup, so no threat to Okami there. Plus, Macdonald is claiming he is going to attack Okami and push the pace. That's a big mistake against a counterfighter like Okami.

so far here is what I have....may add more later!

UFC Record (since UFC 58)
--------------------------------------

Prop Bet 1-4
Fighter vs. Fighter 48-30
Parlays 18-18

+38.43 Joe Rogans

Jason MacDonald beat Yushin Okami $2.80 *1 Joe Rogan

Kalib Starnes beat Alan Belcher $1.80 *2 Joe Rogans

also...Rich Franklin at huge odds may be just tooooo good to pass up....not sure though:shrug:

and why any person would ever wager on that bum Sylvia is beyond me...yes he absolutely has to win (if he doesn't he's done for good) and yes the odds are really good....but come on people were talking about Tim Sylvia here...the guy is a disgrace to MMA. :nono:

Well after the last month I had I'm going to lay off until the new year. But, here's what i think...

Vera should beat big Tim with ease. He's too fast and has too much skill. It could be ugly but I think he wins if it goes to the ground or stays standing. If I was betting it Vera would be one of my bets

I can't wait to see the rematch of Rich and Anderson. I was shocked after the first fight, not because Rich lost but because he was so dominated. If you watch the first fight it wasn't so bad until he go into the clinch(where before the fight he thought he would do well). I think if Rich can get it to the ground, stay on top and be very very careful for the subs he could pull out a very boring ground and pound victory. I don't think he will but he's a good fighter and I expect him to put up a good fight in this one. Again, if i was betting with the line here I would be on Rich but very small.

I think this card stinks and the next one is even worse. All these fighters and they throw out crap like this?. Michael Bisping against Rasheed Evans in the feature match UFC 78? Who is gonna pay for that? Seems like every time Rich Franklin is the so called headliner the card sucks. The Franklin match is solid but Tim Silva may put the next fight into bore land. Hopefully Vera gets the job done but i doubt if Tim even tries to make this an interesting fight. Its all up to Vera to even make this somewhat entertaining.

I'm ambivalent about my bet on Tim. Obviously I would like to win the money, however, I'm not a Tim fan and seeing him lose would be nice, particularly with Randy's departure and Fedor's signing elsewhere. If Tim wins, it's likely that he'll get another title shot now that it's once again up for grabs and he's already had 4 title shots. The thought of him getting a 5th makes me cringe.

However, Tim is a step up in competition from what Brandon has faced thus far and is apparently healthy after receiving back surgery. Tim has his limitations, he's slow and uncoordinated, but he's still a difficult opponent for pretty much anyone and based on their respective careers I don't think he should be the underdog.

And while your expressing surprise over my (and 1837) picking Tim, I have to reciprocate on your picking Jason. In addition to my previous post on the topic, Yushin and Jason have 3 opponents in common, Kalib, Rory and Rich.

Kalib quickly took Jason down, mounted him and gnped him until he rolled over and lost by tko. Rory outwrestled and outstruck Jason for the 1st round and then took him down, mounted him and delivered some gnp. Jason got the reversal and then found himself fighting off a triangle choke as the round ended. Jason got the takedown in the 2nd and got the tko by gnp, but it wasn't an impressive performance. Against Rich, Jason was stopped dead in his tracks with everything he tried and got tkoed in the 2nd.

Yushin had little trouble with either Kalib or Rory and tkoed them in the 3rd. Yushin did little in the 1st 2 rounds vs. Rich, but in the 3rd he got the takedown, full mount and landed gnp. And then followed that up with a nasty kimura attempt. Despite losing the fight, Yushin was the more impressive of the 2 when the action finally started. That 3rd round was probably the 2nd worst round Rich experienced in the UFC.

To me all the evidence indicates a Yushin victory and the odds aren't bad for him either.

muhr......ya make some good points with regards to your Tim wager, and yes the odds are good on him I won't deny that, but there is no way I'd ever wager on that bum Sylvia, and yes I hope he loses so we never see him again:nono:

as for Jason Macdonald......I don't totally disagree with ya but I do think he's got a real shot at beating Okami...and with those odds I really like the play :SIB

"the bunker"
i agree that this is as crappy a card as we`ve seen in quite awhile.....stands to reason after several really exceptional cards in a row....

still, with all the talent that the ufc has pooled,i think they can do better...on a regular basis....

i suspected we`d miss pride....and i know i do....

as far as these bouts go,i hate the fact that we have to consider what appears to be home field advantage for several fighters(franklin,gurgel,petz)....that`s one of the things i liked about mma...other than a few trips to britain, you usually have neutral venues so you can count on a clean result.....

makes it tough...particularly because i have several parlays hanging on silva(i wasn`t aware of the home turf advantage).....can`t imagine that franklin will allow that thai clinch b.s.to beat him this time around....

silva`s better,no doubt...but,if franklin can hang around for awhile....ala forrest griffin vs rua,who knows?....

the crowd should be a factor....

i hate gurgel...i think he`s way overrated....who`s he beaten?....seems like the ufc wants gurgel to amount to something....i don`t have a clue why...he gets his arse kicked by most top level 155 pounders....

but,robinson`s beaten nobody.....

maybe parlay origami and vera....
not much doin` on this card....still,i`ll watch.....

Thx Tony. I have to admit I'm a computer dummy and can't figure this sht out. Streamtv is giving me fits. I didn't see UFC there though. It's all good though.

I'm in a pretty good spot tonight. I did well on the boxing wagers this week but put a little too much on Vera so I hedged a little. If sylvia wins, I net 900 on the week. If Vera wins then it's an even 3k. Hate to see the other guys here lose money but Vera will make it a hell of a wkend for me if he wins.
