honestly...i wanted to get back that dlh money badly....and i guess with sanchez cutting weight it was a bit of a stretch...

but,you had to take the shot with the bigger, more well rounded guy...i guess it`s better to be making my christmas withdrawal on monday rather than not at all...

congrats to the crew....big ups to kegray on friday and kick today...(and my old bud tony montana)...

now g.k., lets get rubio and jennings tucked in for the night and finish the weekend with some real momentum...:toast:

if it wasn't for peewee herman i'd have recovered all my dlh losses. i'm about 2/3rds of my way there.

that should never have happened...i watched film on that guy,and he was pedestrian at best....

the funniest part was his stand-up sucked...he was slow and really didn`t put punches together...

koscheck can be great...or koscheck can be an overconfident idiot....

we saw how strange the guy was on ultimate fighter...he`s not wrapped real tight...lousy focus...

I was actually thinking halfway through the first round
that I should have balled up and put more on Koscheck

he was tatooing the guy with right hands...and then...boom....uppercut and its over

Thanks, kick.... nice night for both of us. :00hour

+1.95 KIMBOS on the night. Bringing my record to + .32 KIMBOS --- finally getting on the plus side.

Welp... thoughts on the night.

A.) Dudes, Maia is good... those who dont think he has a strong chance at subbing Silva, take this ---> :mj17: :142slap: :mj15: ---> an all out cyber-assault from rawli. :SIB

B.) I want to see Junior Dos Santos versus Cain Velasquez next.... this is one of the few heavyweight matchups that interests me right now, along with any Frank Mir fight because I am a fan.

Lets see what Junior/Cane are made of.

C.) Diego seemed to have lost a good bit of power with his weight loss.... I know that is natural to an extent, but I just wasnt impressed at all.. Joe just laughed his ass off the whole fight. I like Sanchez better at 170.

D.)
Holy *&%$ Did u see that Koscheck KO!?! :scared ............ who saw that coming!

Diego ain't that good...plenty of guys in both weight divisions that can stop him. Don't get me wrong he's good, but many better then him out there. And Joe laughing made me laugh....maybe he was laughing to break up the boredum. I mean when you have no variety in your MMA game, perhaps laughter makes the time go bye. Stevenson has as much variety in his game as a nun in a porno.

Oh and Santos/Cain would be one hell of a match:scared

Good card, lots of submissions and KO's.

Great to see that prick Kos lose.....yummy:SIB

And just to reiterate, I think Maia is good, very good. But when you suck on your feet that will catch up to ya.

I think Maia may be a tad over-hyped that's all.

Take a look at these names, there is no way you can say Maia is better then all these guys. I mean he's still has a long long way to go before he is number 1 in the division.

Dan Henderson, Thales Leites, Anderson Silva, Robbie Lawler, Yushin Okami, Vitor Belfort, Nathan Marquardt, Gegard Mousasi, Jorge Santiago, Michael Bisping, Frank Trigg, Denis Kang and Cung Le

And FWIW, I'd bet on Silva, Henderson, Lawler, Marquardt, Mousasi, and Bisping if any of those guys fought Maia. And Maia would get smoked if he fought Nate, Anderson or Mousasi, but hey just my opinion.

Oh and ummmmm wonder if Grove can walk yet....man that looked bad:scared

five thoughts

five thoughts

Great card overall.
1. Cant believe Kos, what a dumdum.
2. Maia, Maia, Maia - HE IS GOOD!, may get caught if he fights the spider but if this guy falls to guard you step back and make the ref ask him to get up, I know it is tempting to go throw a haymaker when a guy is on his back but it is too easy to miss and then 15 seconds and done, submitted. He must be making bank with base salary+win bonus+sub of night bonus
3. Dan Hardy looked good but he and that other dude who slips my mind right now, 155 little guy, have a long way to go. They are young tho so time will tell.
4. Respect Mike C. he said I hope that dude is ok, and will fight at either weight class just for a shot in UFC. Very classy!!!
5. finally Diego, in my opinion, did not win in a dominant fashion deserving next title shot after Ken-Flo. So I say give him another 155 guy the same night Penn/Kenny goes down and then Diego should have to fight loser of Penn fight then gets title so he would have to win two more fights. He could be fighting Super Bowl Saturday 2010 for 155 title.
Also I think Marquart and Maia should fight for the next MW title shot.
Hope all had a profitable night and one last thing, just because the fights are over seas, dont hire first time refs. Bring the usuals

sanchez didn`t dominate like some expected...but this was his first time cutting to 155...and stevenson was a pretty tough opponent for his first time out...

florian fought sam stout(very one dimensional) in his first fight at 155 and then made the mistake of going right to sean sherk where he was dominated for 5 rounds....

i`m not sure sherk could do that again...matter of fact i`d bet against it...

now, florian looks like a threat to b.j. penn...

i think we have to give sanchez a chance to truly acclimate to 155...

if he can do what florian did,he could evolve into a real title threat...

if not,he goes back to 170 where he was a top 5/10 170 pounder...

and i`m not ready to declare dos santos the second coming based on overpowering a neophyte 20 year old beanpole from the netherlands by overwhellming/slapping him on the side of his head for 10 seconds.....

marquardt/maia would be one helluva match-up...

looking forward to watching jackson f-ckup

2-0 night woohoo

Update 2009 record
8-1 +14.91 units

Maia-Not sure if it means much because they're friends but Wandy said that Maia's stand up is very good and that he will suprise a lot of people when he uses it. At this point he hasn't had to use it. I love watching the guy, I don't think he's the best but I think he has as good a chance of beating Silva as anyone. One BIG reason why I say that is because I think Silva would go to the ground with Maia just because he's one of those fighters that wants to show you he can beat you at your own game.

Dieog-hhmmmm, I think he's screwed and just going to be an above average fighter. U

I would probably put Maia ranked 4th at middleweight right now. Silva, Marquardt, and Dan ranked above him...

Dan showed how good his takedown defense is against 'Toquinho'.... he's the only guy I could really trust to keep the fight standing. Miguel Torres once said fighting him is like "fighting an octopus in quicksand"...... I think Maia's style would better fit that description. He doesnt even let his opponent think, and when they do, BAM, lights out. :sadwave:

As for Diego.... since he called out Sherk, go ahead and give him that fight.... no more Fioravanti/Bielkheden/Stevenson caliber matchups for him. Let's see him fight a guy with a pulse that can match his hunger and intensity. Stevenson, IMO, is the bottom of the pack at 155 in the UFC...... people know what to expect when they fight him. That was a very SAFE fight for Diego.

recorded the fights and caught them late last night and early this morning

poor kos - dominating the fight and then ducking into an uppercut and getting ktfo'd by Paulo "Bra-Cop" Thiago
On the stoppage - I flip flopped about 3 times on whether I thought it was warranted or early. I have finally decided on too early of a stoppage and not because GW was on the fight. KOS fought hard not to go to sleep when he was rocked and whether on purpose or not, he did bring his legs up to a position to where he could defend the the onslaught of a finish. I thought Bra-cop was rewarded for not finishing instead of being punished. I won't lose any sleep over it but would have liked to have seen a decided finish and would have loved to have seen KOS recover on his back and find out if Bra-Cop could have submitted the wrestler.

Maia - Rogan was right on this one - when he landed in the funky mount - Rogan said he was set up perfectly for a triangle - I was thinking punch him in the kisser - he rolls and didn't even use his hands to secure his legs - It was impressive to me. More impressive was his strength on the take down, the balance not to get bucked off in such a high mount and the strength to make the roll to his back.

Marquardt - which i pronounce "Mar-Ket" instead of "Mar-kwaw" even though I have two years of high school french under my belt. I think this was the first fight to see a 2nd round - looked solid - well rounded - the only complaint I heard from GSP was that Nate's beard tickled his nose when he cheek kissed him. He's the real deal, Not ready to say he'd beat Silva in a rematch yet but hard to find someone out there that could provide a better fight.

I thought the Dos Santos stoppage against the flying Douche-man was early, more so than the KOS fight. Jury will have to wait until more information can be seen with Junior.

Dan Hardy looked pretty good - I believe this was the first time for me to see him fight - UFC gives the UK what they wanted in this one.

Luckily I missed the knee popping out in the Grove fight live and refused to watch the replay - big guys and ankle locks - not peas and carrots

Diego's entrance is why I hate the nightmare - his warrior statements are why i hate the nightmare. his raise his hands into a "glory" position to the announcement of his name is why i hate the nightmare. It physically pains me to listen to the guy

Last week I thought he'd dominate the 155's but I'm not sure now - If he could have taken Joe Daddy down and shown a little G&P then I might feel differently, but instead, He retreated with his "Dukes Up" countering the whole night. When he didn't have his 1920's boxing stance going he'd drop his left arm to his crotch and throw a jab. If Joe Rogan can pick up on that you best believe his next opponent will.

I'm at a loss of adjectives to describe the way he makes me feel.

The positive thing I can say about Diego is that his mind won't get in the way of his fighting ability. When he did come forward he threw good combinations and varied the angles. He's obviously done that a 1000 times in camp and didn't have to think about doing it in the fight.

I had the fight scored 29-28 Sanchez but can't tell you whether Iit was the 2nd or 3rd round I'd give to Stevenson.

I love betting on mma and I tell you why. When I handicap football and baseball I use the numbers as my main tool for analyzing the game. In MMA I find (this is true in all sports but seems to be more so in MMA) that you have an opinion of someone and if it's correct then you can make great coin off of them and if you're wrong then you can get drilled. Basically your a scout like a scout in bball or football looking at college players or free agents in the NBA. In 2008 I got my ass handed to me because I didn't think Rashad was as good as he is.

In my eyes Diego could turn in to that guy for me this year. Before yesterday I thought he would be in the top 2 of the class, now I don't think so. But, I could see him beating everyone besides BJ and then me saying I should have known.

There could be some GREAT fights in the MW division. Hendo, Franklin, Maia, Nate- you could have a tourny with these guys to see who fights Silva and I would be happy. Oh I forgot the throw GSP in there to keep Kick happy. :mj06:
