Of course, this was not the ?major? or ?mind blowing? announcement that White has promised to reveal later this week. However, White was approached about what it could possible be while on CNBC and shot down the following conspiracy theories:

* WWE czar Vince McMahon will purchase a minority stake in the company
* UFC will go public
* Floyd Mayweather Jr. is making the jump to MMA
* UFC has reached a television deal with a major network such as ABC

So sounds like the McMahon thing is unlikely.. Sponge figured out what the big announcement is going to be... Republican representative John McCain is going to fight Kimbo Slice to determine whether or not MMA will remain legal..

The WWE knows a thing or two about marketing action figures.

I think it has to be a new or resurfaced fighter coming into UFC or some tv deal.

While pitting Anderson vs. Chuck is nice it hardly rocks the mma world.

I say bring back Oleg,Severn,All Gracies,Smashing Machine and have a one night "Old Timers" legends touney. They can fight to the death for Kick and no one will care if an of these guys are gone. Maybe get the Iron Shiek for the WWE guys.:mj07:

The problem with Cintron is he boxes at 147, so he would have to move up in weight(8lbs) to fight in the UFC. Doesn't sound like much,but at that weight it is.

Dana keeps saying boxers can't cut it in MMA so I just don't think this is the announcement.

UFCsCindy O and J.Odessa both said UFC was bringing in a new boxer...not PBF. Unlilkely its the big announcement...but something on the burner to look forward to. :SIB

Hmmmmmm... that could be a real possibility more i think of it..

Dana talked about this announcement & how its an 'indicator of where this sport is going in the next 5 years....' i guess he could mean that he thinks boxing is being taken over by MMA... :shrug:

1) GSP is never ever off topic, any GSP reference nulls the "off topic button".

Anyone know how or when on Thursday this so called major announcement is going to be made.

Fightline is reporting that the major announcement has been delayed until next Tuesday.
If this is true then it is clear that it is not just some matchup. It sounds like some sort of contract hangup.
Whether it is a tv deal or a fighter is the big question??
