Good call redsfann. He who hesitates doesn't get paid.

:00hour

Thanks, Key, Kick and weasie...:mj06:

Have never been impressed with Quarry and getting 2 to 1 on my money betting against him was sweet. Can't imagine he'll fight in the UFC again, but if Dana puts him out there, you know where my money will be....:SIB

Reds, that was indeed a nice call.

Gomi didn't do how I thought he would but it didn't hurt too bad.

0-1 -1 unit for the night.

I like Kenflo but I just don't know if there's anything he can do to beat BJ. IMO he looks like he should be able to beat him but he's not getting younger and I just don't know how much more upside he has.

He can't beat BJ and there in lies the problem with the 155 class. Nobody can beat Penn and nobody below Kenflo can beat him.
155 has to have Dana scratching his head as to how to market any big fight in that class.
170 has the same problem as nobody is in GSP's class. The closest to him is Penn and I don't think many want to see that fight again any time soon.
So the problem is there is no worthy opponent for the 155 or 170 title. :scared That is not good.
Are we really gonna have to suffer another viewing of GSP/Fitch and Penn/Kenflo just because?

penn is a very big 155 pounder....and btw, florian isn`t #2 at the weight...sanchez probably is..... he beat the living piss out of florian at 170 and i doubt that it would be any dfferent at 155....he`d take him down and pound him out or submit him...

i`m a big frankie edgar admirer..he`s won me as much money as any mma fighter.....but he`s not a big 155 pounder.....penn is...

frankie`s in deep do-do here... ...the only logical choice to fight penn and keep it remotely interesting would be maynard....

his stand-up is much improved,he`s a primo wrestler and he`s very physically strong...

he can`t beat penn....but he`s about the best they have...

strikeforce has a few decent lighter weight guys....

i don't know why u guys get all worked up aboout someone beating the top guy for a title. I would much rather see a good plan old fight. Belcher against Cote. Two guys with some skills and granite chins. Now that is a fight. Stevens and Stout is a fight. I would much rather see those two fights then say Silva against Mia. Or even Palhares against Mia. That would be one hell of a Ju Jitz match. Forget about if Kenny can beat Penn. Or if someone can beat GSP. Even Edgar against Penn i think will be a better fight than some think.

.....

Florian being #2 is debateable. Diego is done at 155 but guys like Maynard and Edgar would have a good shot of beating Florian.

I agree. Let's see how Frankie does in a few weeks. I don't think it's a given Florian could take Edgar.

i think florian would take sanchez in a rematch.

they have 3 opponents in common (penn, stevenson and guida) and florian did better than sanchez against all of them.

florian has improved all aspects of his game, but the one area that he's probably improved most is his wrestling. he out wrestled guida handily and against sanchez that would be a huge advantage, even though florian has the better stand up as well.

i doubt that fight would be put together, but i'd like to see it.

we can disagree...i just don`t think florian`s a "strong" 155 pounder...he got clubbed like a baby seal the last time out vs sanchez....

"if" sanchez stayed at 155,i just think he`d overpower florian again...i was reading how good gomi`s wrestling was prior to the florian fight.....honestly,i never saw much of it in pride....he was almost always in stand-up wars...he got in trouble when he hit the mat....

not sure sanchez is the more technical guy....or even a better striker...but he`s much stronger on the mat...

i hope it happens...i`d be curious to see those odds....

it`s sad that theres no real threat to penn in the ufc...

The beatin Sanchez took from Penn scared him right backt to the 170 division. He much rather take his chances there then try to climb the ladder again to face once again, a much more discipline Penn.

not sure what you're seeing that i'm not, but i do recall us disagreeing on sanchez before.

i just don't think he'll be much of a factor in the present or future.

i don't see it either. Florian has improved ten fold from those days. Kenny is also to me one of the most un athelitic guys in mma but uses his brain a lot more than a guy like Sanchez. I was a little disappointed in Kenny's game plan against BJ but Sanchez game plan was flat out silly. BJ sucked Sanchez right in to that silly plan to stand with him. Also think Kenny's head movement was almost flawless last night.

i was specifically talking sanchez vs florian...i think all the cutesy, technical moves and slickness goes out the window when a bigger/stronger man gets his hands on him....he`s a rail....a pathetic looking physical specimen..

he`s o.k. as a guy that moved down from 170 to 155 fighting natural 155`ers...bigger guys that are better grapplers are a bad style match up for him....

i guess it`s possible that florian could run from sanchez for 15 minutes...but after the first fight,i think sanchez walks through the jabs and pummels him...just like the first time...

do you think sherk would dominate sanchez like he dominated florian?...i don`t...i don`t think he`d be favored...

just my opinion..

florian looks weak, but i don't think that's reflected in his fights. since his fight with sanchez he's only been out wrestled by sherk and penn.

GW, I think the reason Kenny would have a good shot at Diego is because Diego seemed to lose a lot of his strength dropping down. He was a beast at taking people down at 170 but I didn't see it at 155 and the only reason I can think of is because of the weight drop.

I do think Maynard, given another fight or two, could give BJ fits. He has the strongest wrestling in the division and has a great gas tank. The question is whether or not he could get his hands on BJ to take him down. At worst I think he could lean on him for a round or two and then start going for the takedowns. Hopefully he wouldn't be stupid and think he should strike with BJ like Sherk and Diego did. Give it up guys, you can't outstrike him so you would be better off hanging on his legs trying to tire him out than you would getting your face pounded on for 5 rounds. We rag on GSP but at least he fights smart.

GW, I know you are a big fan of Edgar and was wondering how you felt about this fight. I'm excited to see if BJ will stand and bang with him. Anyone know the reach of each fighter. I can't imagine Edgar has a reach advantage and I would think he needs it to be successful.

Just looked and Frankies does have a reach advantage. His is 72 and I've seen BJ at 69 and 70 so who knows what's correct.

I think it could be interesting because Frankie can bang with people and has some skills. If he's smart he maybe able to win by outlasting BJ and frustrating him. If I was him I would Floyd Jr his ass and jab and run all night.

i really like edgar....that stand-up seems to have almost caught up with the wrestling.....

just wish he was bigger and stronger...he looks like he should be in the wec fighting at 145...

GW, I'm going to go back and look at some tape of Frankie's fights but is he quick? I don't think anyone that has fought BJ was overly quick. If Frankie is quicker(could be a positive to his size) and has a reach advantage he could stand a small shot at winning. We know power doesn't matter because nobody is going to KO BJ. BJJ doesn't matter because nobody is going to sub him. Wrestling doesn't matter unless you're in a bigger weight class because you can't get him down and if you do can't keep him down.

I'm thinking the only way someone in this class beats him is by quick strikes and movement. BJ isn't exactly quick when he moves around the ring.
