Huge career implications on the line in this one for Machida, so he played it pretty safe. He was pretty much told he was getting a title shot if he won, so he made sure he won without taking a shot at getting finished. He clearly won and he's going to be a very tough out for Weidman.

To clarify further.....winning two belts in the UFC puts you in limited company. So, while he stands to make a lot of money in a title fight, the opportunity to become a two weight class champ is huge. Rarefied air.

He has no shot in hell of beating Weidman.......ok well a 1 percent shot.

Weidman will dominate him, it will be ugly.

machida`s ground game impressed me...particularly his ability to scramble......he`ll need that against weidman....

at first blush,i think weidman`s very beatable...machida a very live dog(but i`ll bet a very small one)....

Weidman fights right into Machida's wheelhouse. Very aggressive and impatient. Now, that doesn't mean Machida wins, but it really opens up his style as a counter-striker. Hopefully, he can handle him better than he handled Rua. If nothing else, it is intriguing.

Machida might not even get a title shot, so might be mute point.

I take it you are already giving Weidman a win over Belfort

On the flip side, Belfort has speed to strike w Machida and catch him.

I love Belfort against Weidman. I think he matches up very well and the speed of his hands should give Weidman so serious trouble.

I thought Machida looked ok Saturday night. He played it safe but that seems to be a lot of guys in the UFC these days. I think Machida would give Weidman problems as well.

Both Belfort and Machida are better standing than anyone Weidman has faced outside of Anderson. The big difference between those two and Anderson is that they're not getting taken down with such ease. I don't think you'll find either of them clowning around. I really expect Belfort to beat Weidman. Take out the front kick from Anderson and Belfort has crushing fighters.
