"the bunker"
i just saw the article about lauzon on mmajunkie...i have the same issue(although thank god rarely...it`s frightening)......and believe me,theres no way in hell that lauzon could walk, much less fight.....your knee literally dislocates(sort of sideways..more to the outside)....it`s totally impossible to put weight on it(theres no underpinning...no support)...it happens if i kneel and sit back with total body weight on my bent legs.. or flex the knee fully in the extreme(in other words, the back of your calf touching the back of your thigh with some amount of pressure)....i think it can also happen if you sit with your ankle on your knee (man crossed leg position) for a really long time without moving;.has never happened when the knee is actually bearing weight(standing,running,walking...thank god).....whatever bone or tendon or tissue that keeps that knee from shifting no longer keeps the knee in position....

the way i have fixed it in the past is to sit down(you`re already down, you have no choice) on the floor leg extended forward...and slowly extend(straighten) the leg while massaging the sides(and the back, behind your kneecap) of the knee with moderate pressure(the act of massaging/pressure with the gradual extension has always eventually popped mine back into place)...and i usually feel a slight "click",like the joint is popping back into place

when it happens,it`s not excriciating pain per se(unless you`re trying to put weight on it)...it`s total immobility with absolutely NO CAPABILITY TO BEAR WEIGHT ON THE KNEE...NADA...and the weirdest part is that when it goes back in,also not painful but you know when you flex the knee that it feels normal and you can resume activity immediately with pretty much no after effects(like it never happened)......was this the first time it happened to lauzon?..mine happens infrequently(mostly years between occurences, and i`m a pretty active old bird)...you forget about it and that`s why you might fall into a tenuous position that allows it to happen...but if it happened and you couldn`t get it back in place yourself and had no access to medical help(some sort of apocalypse),you`re pretty much an invalid for life...

i`m sort of shocked that the mma doctors don`t see more of this and didn`t know how to deal with it...
