GREAT CARD

:0055 :0054

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua def. Brandon Vera via TKO (punches) - Round 4, 4:09.

Good fight....I was stunned Vera did so well. Vera was very close to winning that fight! Rua was shocked Vera was as good as he was.

-Lyoto Machida def. Ryan Bader by KO at 1:32, R2

Wax on......Wax off.......enough said!

-Joe Lauzon def. Jamie Varner by submission (triangle choke) at 2:44, R3

Incredible fight! Varner was dead and gone a year ago, now look at what he's done. Wow! Yes he lost but he took fight on short notice and put on a great show. Lauzon was impressive as well, one of the best fights of the year so far!

-Mike Swick def. DaMarques Johnson by KO at 1:20, R2

Swick is back! Great to see!!!!

-Nam Phan def. Cole Miller by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Cole Miller is close to getting cut, if he loses his next fight I think he's gone.

-Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado ruled a no decision after accidental eye poke in R1

Prado makes his UFC debut, and bammo...eye poke and it is all over. That sucks!

-Rani Yahya def. Josh Grispi by submission (north-south choke) at 3:15, R1

Nice sub!!!!!!!!

-Phil De Fries def. Oli Thompson by submission (face crank) at 4:16, R2

It is never a good thing to get your "face cranked"

-Manny Gamburyan def. Michihiro Omigawa by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Fight was back and forth, entertaining to watch for sure!

-John Moraga def. Ulysses Gomez by KO at 3:46, R1

In my mind the best KO of the night, but because it was the 1st fight of the night it doesn't win the award for KO of the night. Morago KO was awesome!!

Too bad the Silva card didn't bring it like this one. What a bunch of fights!! Anybody care to speculate on why they were so good? I have an opinion...:0corn

PS I love to see a wrestler get knocked out.

Card was loaded with guys with talent. If you watched that heavyweight bout with those two stiff u saw what two stiff will always bring. Very first fight on prelims had two talented guys but one really talented. All fights on Fox had talented guys and of course the one dumb one in Badar.

All this phony love for Vera is making me sick. The guy looked like he was gonna quit at any moment in every round. Shogun was never in danger at any time and was gassed after the first round as he even admitted. Vera has looked so awful in the past that this performance has everyone fooled. Vera wanted to quit so many times i think that he realized that if he did he would look like a tool. Shogun needs to retire before he ends up with brain damage. The guy has been in to many wars in his career. Shogun didn't respect Vera's power at any time and when he connected with Vera it almost look like Vera wanted to cry.

It wouldn't be an MMA card unless Sponge said the word "stiff".

You just have no eye for talent. This was a great card because it had talent up and down the roster. The card before had shit for talent and was a shit card. Then again you thought Vera almost won  Jesus H Christ u serious? Shogun looked like he was toying with him and had no respect for his power.

I just find it hilarious how no matter what you always find something negative. It doesn't matter what the card has to offer you will always find something.

And I don't know what the fuck you were watching, but Vera did rock Shogun more then one time. And you saying Vera was looking to quit is just fucking stupid. Vera got rocked on numerous occasions and hung in there.

I have no fucking clue what fight you were watching, but the one the rest of the world was watching saw both guys put up a great effort, and neither guy "was looking for a way out". You saying Rua was tired is correct (he gasses in a lot of fights) but how you saw Vera looking to quit proves my point that you can't enjoy a fight unless you look for the negative. Why the fuck you watch MMA boggles my mind.

Vera quitting.......yeah ok:mj07:

What fight were you watching?

I agree with you 100 percent with Shogun, I told my brother during the fight that Rua is going to look like Ali in 30 years.

he couldn't even take advantage of a gas fighter. Every time he got hit he looked like he wanted out and was gonna pull a Lesnar but then then thank goodness he found something inside to not to quit. I think Dana was screaming at him the whole fight "don't you check out on me". Thankgod for Dana or the fight would have been done in round one. Every round i was wishing the clock would run out when Vera was in trouble. You wish the clock runs out because you don't trust a guy to be able to make it thru a round. At no time did i ever feel like this with Shogun. Even gassed he walked right thru Vera punches like he couldn't care less what he was throwing. Vera is a big time fade next fight if he fights anyone with any kind of talent. Vera finally showed some heart against a guy who wasn't a can and the looks of Shogun with no head movement and no footwork makes me wonder how far Shogun is away from being a can. Shogun has tremendous heart and courage but wars take their tool. Vera has a half of a heart and courage that won't carry into his next fight.

Great fights tonight. I'm really into this. Is it as good or better live?

I think it sucks live. I was on the main floor 12 rows deep and I watched all the action on the big screens. There is a glare off the cage from all of the lights, the camera guys keep getting in the way, and there is a lot of downtime. Some people love the atmosphere, but I really just want to watch fights, so I prefer watching it on the flat screen at home with friends. JMO.

Just catching up on the fights. Shogun made me a nice chunk so I'm happy. I wish I could have seen it live. There's a reason Shogun is my favorite fighter and it's because of fights like Saturday night and the fight vs. Hendo, they're exciting. I really wish he would drop down to MW to fight Anderson. There's just no way he's beating Bones so why keep on doing what he's doing.

Will watch the Machida fight later. I was suprised Machida gets the rematch with Bones before Shogun does. I don't think either would win but thought it was Shoguns turn.

I love Shogun but I think what we're seeing when it comes to gassing is the result of no steroids. I know people will say it doesn't help with endurance but they couldn't be more wrong. When he's gassing it's not that he can't breath, it's that his muscles are shot. It's exactly like what happens when you go in for an insane workout and walk out and your arms, legs or whatever you worked out are just shot. You just don't have anything in them and they feel like jello. If you're "on" then you don't get that feeling. From personal experience I can tell you that I've gotten ready to walk out of the gym after a hard workout and ended up turning back around because I still felt so damn good that I wanted to keep working out. I don't do those things anymore but I can tell you that if you do get tired the recovery is very quick. I think the Chute Box guys all suffer because of this. They go balls to the wall and in Pride they recovered from it so it wasn't a big deal to get into a slug fest for 30 seconds because they knew they wouldn't get tired and if they did they bounced back. Now if they do it they get jello arms and don't recover.

Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it.
