Has little to do with the media. For example the media had very little to do with the pound hitting a 31 year low, or stock markets around the world showing losses.

Those are "paper losses" until you cash in.....probably 98.3% of stockholders weather the storm just fine...simple media scare tactics....

I think its great the general population told politicians to take a hike, and are going to take back a portion their national identity.

Hilderbeast and Obumble did their best to enlighten the Brits, it back fired big time.....:chairshot

Here's a fun article from WA Post "The British are frantically Googling what the E.U. is, hours after voting to leave it"

reminds me of this quotation: "The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." - by Anon. (Often wrongly attributed to Winston Churchill)

So most didn't even know the outcome or what they voted for.

Democracy is a failed process right from it's foundation. It's nothing more than mob rules. The majority does not have to be right to get what they want, they simply have to be the majority. We live in a nation of dumb asses, many of them complete dumb asses and their vote counts one just like the person who is actually educated on the issues at hand.

We currently live in a time in the good ol US of A that Donald Trump could likely become president. Think about that. I really don't care if you support him or not, he's a sideshow, not a politician and yet here we are. Somehow the majority of Republicans (that voted anyway) have put us in a position where Trump is the nominee. I'm fascinated by that.

On the other side of the coin the majority of Democrats managed to nominate, by a wide margin, a woman who allowed the Benghazi situation to happen, illegally stored national secrets and is basically a nitwit.

You think Democracy works?

Yeah, another politician is what we need. They've done such good things.

well, the famous and true democracy quote from Churchill:

it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time

Our Founding Fathers were generally pretty skeptical of democracy, which they mostly equated with dangerous mob rule. In the US Constitution you read about "the republic" quite a bit, but nowhere in the text is democracy mentioned.

Of the 4 main centers of power in US gov't, the Founders allowed only the House of Representatives to be directly elected by the people. Senators were elected by state legislatures until the 17th Amend was passed to change that in 1913. The President is elected by the Electoral College, generally better informed folks - and, just in case some crazy guy the mob elects, the EC can override it.

Founding Fathers also did not let women vote, or slaves vote, or white guys who owned no decent amount of property (and, therefore, had no 'skin in the game') to vote - yep, they were pretty afraid of mob/majority rule!

Sounds about right. Thank you, Terryray.

The new world order people are still kicking

The new world order people are still kicking

A petition calling for a second referendum on UK's membership of the EU has gained more than one million signatures following the vote to leave.
The petition will be considered by Parliament as it has passed the required 100,000 threshold.
The UK voted to leave the EU by 52% to 48% in Thursday's referendum but the majority of voters in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland backed Remain.
David Cameron previously said there would be no second referendum.
On Friday he said he would stand down as prime minister by October following the leave result.
The petition, set up by William Oliver Healey, states: "We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement a rule that if the Remain or Leave vote is less than 60%, based on a turnout less than 75%, there should be another referendum."
Thursday saw a 72.2% turnout, significantly higher than the 66.1% turnout at last year's general election, but below the 75% mark suggested by Mr Healey as a threshold.

Trump beats Killary

Take our country back like the Brits did:0008
So someone other than the voting population of the U.S. currently has possession of our country?

What do you mean by "take back"?
Will Trump suddenly start passing legislation outside of congressional approval, hand out assault weapons and quickcrete?

All anybody ever does is bitch. So what would all you sages replace Democracy with ?????

I don't know, if only there were examples around the world of governments that work and don't screw their people and their countries are peaceful and not in debt and don't let special interest run the place, etc... If only such an example existed.

Call for Texas "independence".

Call for Texas "independence".

Very interesting read....Texas actually could make it alone, along with some other states....

As expected, it didn't take long after the final Brexit results for demands for referenda to be put forth by the Netherlands, France, Italy and Scotland.

While it's easy for Americans to fall into the "it can never happen here" mentality, The Mises Institute put forth a thought experiment that dispelled the notion that even if some states in the US wanted to become independent they would be too small to go it alone.

As a reminder, here is how some of the US states look when comparing state GDP to the GDP of other countries around the world.
It's evident from this chart that the idea that some states would be too small to exist on their own isn't valid.

Yes except you'd lose all federal subsidies to state universities, corporations, etc.... most would disappear immediately. Import export tariffs and taxes. Cellular services would become international. No more amazon prime free shipping, no more department store chains as over the road shipping would now include border. No more national Guard or army, navy, airforce, marines. No border patrol. So many unmanageable issues that you'd have to be a complete fucking moron to even consider something like that happening. Not that there aren't plenty of them in Texas, all you have to do is put a roundabout in an intersection to see that..
