I think you're nuts to lay anything in mma over -300 or so, those tiny gloves and submissions do strange things.

I like mercer btw, both are supposedly training for ground but something tells me kimbo will try to outpunch mercer first, then take him down and if the fight goes any length, mercer should be in better shape even at his age.

Got to agree Am. Any second ya can lose one of these.

g.l. guys...

I think you basically nailed this fight Weasel. He was winded two minutes in. The way he quit looked like he was just in for a quick knockout if he could get it or just the pay check.

Tossing a few coins Pulver's way to win tonight.
If you saw last week's free UFC card on Spike, you saw a great fight between Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout. Fisher had some seriously heavy hands in that fight, and thats because he has been banging with Jens Pulver here in town for the last 2 months. While Penn may have the better ground game--and thats debatable, IMO-- he had better be able to take the pounding that Pulver is planning on giving him tonight.
Will I be shocked if Penn wins the fight? Of course not, its the UFC and crazy things happen--besides, he is a 3-1 favorite..:mj07:

I just think the bad blood between these two is enough motivation for Pulver to get it done.
If its half the fight that Fisher Vs Stout was, it will still be great intertainment.

it was a great fight...fischer`s stand-up was sharp....

i`m still reeling from that roger huerta/leonard garcia bout awhile back....may have been as good an mma fight as these eyes have seen....

and given those performances and the long odds,i`m putting both huerta and garcia in a parlay......out of sheer respect...with maybe penn and or hatton.....

btw...i hate to disappoint, but i expect the hatton fight to be not nearly as compelling as people think...i expect alot of clinching and dirty fighting...

g.l.

Melendez does not make weight :nono: :nono:

How pissed is Dana.....Dana White hates and I mean hates when a fighter doesn't make weight...you will probably never see Melendez in the UFC ever again:nono: :nono:

.....All the fighters weighed-in today for tomorrow night?s expected fireworks between Jens Pulver and BJ Penn at The Ultimate Fighter 5 Finale. They all made weight, save for one lone exception? Brandon Melendez.

Melendez weighed in at 157 pounds. Upon review of the doctors of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, according to the UFC, it was deemed unsafe for Melendez to try to lose the extra pound. The fight was subsequently agreed upon with the weight allowance, but Melendez was docked 10% of his purse, 5% going to opponent Joe Lauzon and 5% lining the coffers of Nevada.....

great night for the board...everything hit...

but i feel very fotunate about the diaz win....he had better start putting some muscle on that frame.....because almost every fight i see him in,he gets thrown around like a rag doll...

he`s talented...tough as an old boot...great cardio....but he`s not a strong guy at the weight....he`s gonna get pounded early in alot of fights....

huerta and garcia did their jobs...tough little s.o.b.`s...

and penn?....i needed him to win....but did anybody else think that he looked gassed at the end of the 1st round...and a bit listless through the second?....

i think the cardio thing may not be fixable....he needs to either wear guys out early...or finish them...cause i think most guys are gonna be dangerous with him in the 3rd round of his fights.....

whatever...congrats guys....the "stacked" card in 2 weeks is just that....stacked...

agree next UFC is STACKED :com:

great name for sure.....looks like one sweeeet card :SIB

as for the Diaz fight........I am sure Diaz didn't want to win that way....but I'm sure he'll love the money he will receive from the popped shoulder :mj07:

and Pulver....just too small....Featherweight would suit him just fine :SIB

ill take the Diaz win to. Had a lot on that one and still think he would have won. Weasel, i will take that kid on his back any day of the week. My only fear was the shortness of Manny. Kinda tough to submit a guy like that. Baroni shows you what all that muscle does for you. I like guys like Gracie, the Diaz kids, and Penn who can wrap their legs up like pretzels.
