For those wondering.......

Three times a qualifyer has made the Semi Finals at a Grand Slam (Men's Singles)......

Qualifyer Filip Dewulf made semi finals at 1997 French Open

Qualifyer Vladimir Voltchkov made semi finals at 2000 Wimbledon

Qualifyer John McEnroe made semi finals at 1977 Wimbledon

I watched him last night for the first time. The kid looked good and really handled himself well. I don't think pressure or trash talk will get to him. He played like the fav and acted like he had been there before. Very impressive for an 18 yo.:0074

In the round of 32's he plays Kyle Edmund, that is the same dude he was playing when he almost blinded the umpire..........

You can be sure Edmund will be trash talking Denis big time during (and before) the match. It will be a mental test for the young Canuck that is for sure. Of course it turned out almost blinding the umpire was actually a good thing for Shapovalov, it could have destroyed him, but instead he turned it into a positive. I mean look at him now, he's on fire now and has moved up into Top 50. And oh yeah he could still play the Junior US Open if he wanted to.

I think he gets by Edmund, he handles pressure so well for being a young kid so I don't think it will be a factor.

If he plays Mahut in Round of 16's I think he wins because Mahut will be exhausted. If he plays Busta, well that is a different story, Busta can wear anybody down and I think he'll be too much for the Canuck. But hey one match at a time, he has some major mental hurdles to get over when he takes the court against Edmund.

He sure is playing with a ton of confidence right now. Thanks for the response, Mr. Serv. :0008

You heard it here first.......Denis Shapovalov will be the first qualifyer to win a Grand Slam, he will win 6-0 6-0 6-0 in the final, only question is who will he beat in the final.

The 18 year old qualifyer is in the Round of 16's
