rd 2, playing:

Brandon Grace -155 vs Brendon Todd

played this one rather large - 12 fairways and 14 greens for Grace yesterday compared to 9 and and 8 for Todd - perhaps just as important was the disparity in driving distance b/t the 2 with Grace averaging 336 yards off the tee vs Todd at 272

In general I lean to most Euros (or Euro tour members) over Americans in matchups as they are a lot less likely to be turned off by course setup and the conditions of the greens

As always, good luck

Round 2 plays (4pts):

Jim Furyk to beat Miguel Angel Jimenez -138 @ 5Dimes [also available @ Pinnacle, The Greek and Carib]
Jimenez recovered well from a poor start and looks set to make his first cut in this event since 2008, but that still doesn't make him on a par with the World #3 who won at Hilton Head two months ago and has top-5 finishes in three of his last five events. Furyk also ranked 6th in greens in regulation yesterday and with course conditions always tending to get harder during U.S. Open week, his more accurate ball control should see him rise up the leaderboard.

Jason Dufner to beat Marc Warren -135 @ 5Dimes [also available @ Pinnacle, The Greek and Carib]
Dufner also ranked 6th in greens in regulation yesterday and that is a continuation of the improved form that he has showed over the last month. He is still not at the level that has seen him secure top-5 finishes in two of the last three U.S. Opens, but he is a far better player than Warren who has made the cut in five of six events in the U.S., but never finished in the top-10 there. He has also missed two of his last three cuts, so even though he finished day one inside the top-10, he looks far less likely to stay there than Dufner.

Brian Harman to beat Alexander Levy -112 @ Pinnacle [also available @ 5Dimes, The Greek and Carib]
Opposing the European Tour player in this matchup as well. Levy did well to finish day one in 26th position as only 22 players hit fewer greens in regulation than the Frenchman. Harman, for his part, ranked 20th in greens in regulation yesterday and, with top-10 finishes in two of his last five starts, has the form to shoot another sub-par round today.

[unofficial rd2 system plays: Johnson D tb Mickelson +100; Poulter tb Holmes -125]

was digging on Rory a bit when I saw the lines come out at Pinny last night as I just don't think Furyk's game matches up with the course - then line got hit down a tad overnight which made me pause - had access to -150 at one of my outs this morning and seriously considered playing but now looking at a best case scenario of -165 - truly think Rory is the play but just not sure I can pull the trigger now

I find it interesting that they chose to throw out Spieth vs Dustin and Reed vs Grace as opposed to having the matchups b/t playing partners (obviously I know there are a multitude of different matchups available across different sites/specialty shops but referring to the matchups that are available to the masses) - why not Spieth vs Reed and Dustin vs Grace? I think there is something to be learned from that situation but unfortunately haven't figured out just what that might be yet

another thought process I am trying to go through is ----- who might have the advantage today based on the initial wave they played in for the 1st 2 rounds? the course seemed to be a different animal yesterday afternoon than it had been in the 1st 3 "waves" as the afternoon groupings on Thursday had a good amount of cloud cover to play under - question is, does this favor the players that got a taste of the "baked out" Chambers Bay that golfers got to know yesterday afternoon? or will the physical and mental grind that the afternoon wave experienced yesterday favor the players who got off the course early yesterday and have had a lot more time to rest and recharge........

initial thought is that some of the players who played really late yesterday might be a bit worn down today (P Reed comes to mind), but again have to question whether the early groupings/players who fared well on Friday will have the same comfort level if the course dries out significantly again this afternoon

all in all, despite the poor coverage (think we can all agree it has been poor, but some benefit of the doubt has to be given due to lack of experience) I have really enjoyed the golf over the past couple of days - the scenery is majestic and the course is just so monstrous that it is definitely a different viewing experience than most golf fans are used to -
