Got home late last night from Las Vegas. Was not at he concert but wast staying at a hotel very close where this tragedy took place. It was total chaos because people were thinking this was a terrorist attack. We where going down to gamble on Sunday around 6 pm and as we were got into the elevator there were two young gils in their early twenties singing Shania Twain happy and excited telling us they were heading to that concert, I just hope to God that they were not one of the victims. We wee eating dinner in the restaurant around 10 40 when the staff came to our table and told us there was a shooter in our hotel and had to leave now. They took us through the back door and down the stairs to a holding area near the loading docks with other people. we waited there for five minutes and told it was safe to go back in. We went back to our room and sat on our terrace watching police cars surrounding the fountains in the Bellagio. There were ambulances, choppers a and police cars everywhere as they began to shut down the roads and the strip.

On our flight home back yesterday morning there was a a 20 year old girl sitting next to me on the plane who was at that concert. She told me she had not slept and was crying. Her and her friend ran from the concert back to her motel room and took people in who had no where else to go. As we got off the plane I told her to go hug her parents and family as she was one of the lucky ones to be alive.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families of this horrific tragedy.

On the course!
It would be best if you didn't post in this thread any longer. The magnitude of this is bigger than you are able to understand at this time.

Thanks, man.

I just wonder what's worse: Making a couple stupid cracks about a tragedy, or seeking out the pictures of the death caused by that asshole?

Do you think a friend or family member would be pissed at me, but somehow be grateful for you posting a picture of their dead friend or family member?

Did I make an ass of myself? Well, yeah. That seems to be my milieu. But, you and Saint love to stick your noses in shit, and root around. Now, instead of one asshole in a serious thread about a tragic event, there are three.

I offer an apology to all the people who had to read my stupid shit.

I'm not happy about what happened. I fully understand that people are making funeral arrangements today. I fully understand that people have huge roads ahead of them as far as recovery goes.

I have removed my insensitive comments above, and it would be great if you and Saint took them out of your replies to me. I don't want to be that distraction. I would imagine you guys don't want to be, either.

I have often been guilty of making a joke or smart remark that the situation didn't call for. While never ill intended, it does get interpreted that way. This, might be one of those times.

Probably worth just moving on at this point.

YYZ you've always been one of my favorite posters on here, this place wouldn't be the same without you. Apologies for my anger-driven posts.

I guess the thing that hits home for me is that we are losing value on human life. Not to get all philosophical. But the internet, phones, texting- we are losing touch with the things that make us human. And I agree with you. I dislike just as much those who post pictures and videos of this shit. I personally can't stomach watching them. It's upsetting that the technology age has made us so much less sympathetic to other people to the point where it's easy to joke about death.

ORLANDO ? He liked to bet big, wagering tens of thousands of dollars in a sitting. He owned homes in four states but preferred staying in casino hotels, sometimes for weeks at a time, as he worked the gambling machines.

He grew up the son of a convicted bank robber who was constantly running from the law. But in his own life, Stephen Paddock, 64, had stayed out of trouble until Sunday night, when he suddenly unleashed a firestorm of bullets from his casino hotel room, killing at least 59 people and injuring more than 500 more on the Las Vegas Strip.

?If you told me an asteroid fell into Earth, it would mean the same to me. There?s absolutely no sense, no reason he did this,? his brother Eric Paddock said in an interview outside his home in Orlando. ?He?s just a guy who played video poker and took cruises and ate burritos at Taco Bell. There?s no political affiliation that we know of. There?s no religious affiliation that we know of.?

After the shooting, officers found Stephen Paddock dead with 23 guns on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where he had arrived Thursday. Police believe Paddock acted alone in executing the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Police said they found 19 firearms at Stephen Paddock?s home in Mesquite, Nev.

He was worth more than $2 million, relatives said. Before retiring, he made a small fortune from real estate deals and a business that he and Eric Paddock sold off. He traveled a lot and had millions of free airline miles.

At various points of his life, Stephen Paddock worked for defense contractor Lockheed Martin and as an accountant and property manager. As a retiree, he had no children and plenty of money to play with. So he took up gambling.

?It?s like a job for him. It?s a job where you make money,? said Eric Paddock, adding that his brother could lose $1 million and still have enough to live on. ?He was at the hotel for four months one time. It was like a second home.?

He recalled one time when the entire family took over the top floor of the Atlantis at the casino?s expense.

His brother was very particular about the games he played. ?It had to be the right machine with double points, and there has to be a contest going on. He won a car one time,? Eric Paddock said. :scared

?He?s known. He?s a top player. He?s the small end of the big fish.?

Over the past two decades, Stephen Paddock bought and lived in properties in several states, including California, Nevada, Florida and Texas, where for a time, neighbors said he lived with his mother. Public records show Paddock owned two planes and was a licensed pilot. He also had a fishing license from Alaska.

some new info & speculation:

Investigators are trying to determine whether anyone else was in the Las Vegas gunman's hotel room during the time he was registered there, multiple senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation told NBC News.

The investigators are puzzled by two discoveries: First, a charger was found that does not match any of the cellphones that belonged to the gunman, Stephen Paddock.

And second: Garage records show that during a period when Paddock's car left the hotel garage, one of his key cards was used to get into his room.

They are also examining his finances. IRS records show that Paddock was a very successful gambler, earning at least $5 million in 2015. Some of that could be from his other investments, but most of it was from gambling, officials say. <- not bad at all

disturbing if true:

Former Massachusetts Trump campaign official James Brower posted a series of tweets last night claiming he was leaked information about Paddock being inspired by ISIS to carry out the mass shooting.
?There is a video, this video will prove the motive. He had a secret digital profile that was uncovered over the last 24 hrs,? claims Brower.
