this is not good...i`m hearing that russia has declared war ...ON THE U.S.?........not confirmed..

it`s over south ossetia....

From his viewpoint, they are the exact same thing.

that was reported on the news this morning...obviously thats not correct....

but,don`t pooh-pooh whats going on there,dawg...

we`re getting differing reports on what stirred up this hornet`s nest....

russia and "ossetia"(my spelling ,too),claim that it was georgian aggression....georgia claims that the ossEtian rebels violated a cease fire and aTTacked several georgian towns...

the reason that this is scary,is because the last time a large country invaded a small country to protect "ethnics" (ethnic russians in this case),it was hitler who invaded czechoslavakia to protect ethnic germans....

and that led to wwII...

not saying that`s gonna happen here....but,smaller conflicts have a way of snowballing into more serious disputes....

it`s important news...i thought it was worth mentioning...

shouldn`t have mentioned the "declaring war" comment...but,it was reported on the news...sounded a bit far fetched.....thats why i posted the disclaimer...

shouldn`t have titled the thread in that manner....

still,we do have troops in georgia as trainers....and this is a situation that hopefully gets nipped in the bud...

The US is tied up in 2 3rd world countries, costing over 12 billion a month. Where's the money and the bodies coming from to attack Russia. This will bring the true war to America, when Russia starts to blowup American cities.

I'am sure international bankers and the federal reserve bank will be very happy.

Pretty serious situation. We've had troops on the ground in Tbilisi for 5-6 years now and Russia is going after their oil mechanisms.

Pretty hard for us to take a moral high ground with Russia right now and since we're pretty resource strapped, I'm not sure we could do anything anyway.

Tough situation for George. This should turn out well.

the utter lack of discretion in the fighting goes to show once again that only the u.s. and a handful of western allies give a rats behind about honor or rules of engagement...
