eastern michigan is off to a nice start this season at 2-0mac/8-3overall. theyre runnin and gunnin and have put up 76ppg. they should contend for the mac west championship.

....but theyre gonna get waxed tonight in kent.

this game reminds me a lot of toledo/kent last year in january. toledo came in with a high-powered offense and was sitting at the top of the mac west at the time (7-1). rockets were catching a lot of points from the oddsmakers. kent state beat the shit outta toledo 92-56 and held the rockets to 30% shooting (while shooting 50% themselves).

kent just holds a ridiculous home court edge. there are a handful of tough venues in the mac, but none compare to the edge at kent. the defense they play at home is stifling, and they hit you with runs you simply cannot recover from. flashes are already likely to be in a sour mood after dropping 2 games on the road last week (the game in boston college where they blew an 18-pt lead, and then the loss to ball state).

emich defense on the road has been lame (opp. shooting 50%+) and if they bring that effort to kent, theyll be down 20 at halftime.

really think kent lays it on emu tonight. bad, bad spot for the eagles. i think kent sets the tone with defense in the first half and dont think theyll be challenged. strong play for me.

Shit G, I really don't know. Pinson and Valencia ain't really going to scare the Zips out of the paint and Romeo Travis will be the best rebounder on the floor Toledo just seems soft enough to me down low that the loss of Wood might not come into play so much for this game. I still think that overall depth is the strength of the Zips, and while that depth has now been compromised I still say that this one will come down to guard play. I'll be interested in seeing how Joyce takes care of the rock with Tripplet all over his ass.

7 is probably a pretty tight number, but don't be surprised if the Zips really do use this injury as a rallying point vs. an underachieving Toledo team

the immutable law of kent state basketball at the maac center:

if you are down big at halftime, they have no shame burying you. if youre not close at halftime, youre done, plain and simple. and with kent blowing that 18 pt lead in boston college last week, im sure christian is making sure these guys go for the throat in the 2nd half. i think it only gets worse for emu.

wow. gotta give emu some major credit for coming back but just not sure what the deal is with kent. to blow a 16 pt lead at home on the heels of doing the same in bc is just not something this program does. props to emu.
