Last week : 8-4 with one push (+ 15.4 )
YTD: 19-21 (- 0.95 )

Going to take Mia O right now at +9 for one unit.I will bet it again if the line moves to ten.

This may well be the only winnable game left on the schedule for both teams. The Redhawks actually showed a little spark in the 2nd half at Western and moved the ball very well. In fact if memory serves correct, I believe that they actually outyarded Western. That is enough of a reason for me to think that they can sneak in under the number. Kent should not be laying anything approaching double digits to anybody.

More than likely going to be a light week for me. I have not ran all the totals yet so there might be a couple more later.

Taking one side and total now.

Iowa St -9' vs Army two units.

I was disturbed that the Cadets were out yarded by nearly 100 yards at home vs. a very poor Ball State team last week. Since the opening win vs. EMU Army seems to be getting worse every week.On the other hand, I supect that the Cyclones were happy to get a very rare road win last week and will be eager to to keep it rolling for the home crowd. Unlike most of their games, this is a spot where Iowa State is the better team and they should beat Army by double digits. I had the Cyclones last week and will go to the well with them just one more time.

Fresno/ Cinci Over 62 three units

After seeing both Boise and Cinci last week I'm not sure that they can set the number high enough. I have this one breaking 70. Both teams feature a great offense and a somewhat suspect defense, though the Bearcat defense did perform well at Oregon. I do not think that Fresno has an answer for the Bearcats speed and Cinci could well put up 50 on their own. Kelly is one of the very best coaches in the country and has a great offensive team on his hands. The Bearcats are rolling up some impressive numbers and I don't expect that to end anytime soon.

Hope to have a couple more later.

Practice report: September 22 Army offensive coordinator Ian Shields raised his hands

Practice report: September 22 Army offensive coordinator Ian Shields raised his hands

Practice report: September 22
Army offensive coordinator Ian Shields raised his hands and almost went into a march as Iowa State's fight song blasted through standing speakers at the Foley Athletic Center.

Then crowd noise followed. Army's coaching staff were trying to simulate conditions its team might face at Iowa State Saturday.

Army quarterbacks Trent Steelman and Chip Bowden tried to communicate signals and ran plays in the loudness.

"We were just making it so you can't hear," Army coach Rich Ellerson said. "You can do it with no noise and whisper. We call it the whisper drill. We had a little more fun and we are just trying to make the practice environment as adverse as possible."

Ellerson told assistant equipment manager Jon Sedgwick the idea Monday. Sedgwick went on iTunes and downloaded both the fight song and crowd noise.

***
Ellerson hinted at some changes on the offensive line during his press conference earlier Tuesday. Sophomore Brad Kelly, who split time with Mike McDermott against Ball State last week, was working with the first team at left tackle. Sophomore Joe Bailey, who made his first start last week, remained with the first team.

McDermott, a sophomore, was playing right tackle with the second team.

***
Freshman slotback Lonnie Liggins saw some snaps with the first team. Liggins laid a big-time block on a scout-team corner.

Slotbacks Ian Smith and Malcolm Brown participated in practice. Smith missed last week's game with a leg injury. Brown, freshman, is still looking to make his college debut.

Thanks guys,

Thomas, I just can't offer up much of an opinion on this one due to not seeng FIU play. I do know that FIU beat the Rockets in Toledo last year and I always wonder if a team like the Rockets will look at their trip to sunny Fla as more of a mini vacation rather than a journey to go win a football game and gain revenge.

You are right about Opelt. he is an experienced QB that usually makes good decisions. Toledo can certainly put points on the board fast when they are not outclassed as they were last week.

I can understand why you would lean to the Rockets. They have been pretty solid so far. If they can get the drubbing at the hands of the Buckeyes off of their minds and go down to Fla focused on playing their best game, they can certainly get it done.

To be quite honest I just do not know enough about FIU to make an informed play here. Sure I can look at some numbers and draw some assumptions but its just not the same as seeing them go at it with your own eyes. Sorry, not much help, I know.

What's your feeling on Akron/CMU looking at the total and like the under-am I crazy? Well we all know that.

Yes, you are crazy but that is not pertinent to the subject.. ;)

I don't know Hawk, Akron has some serious crap going on in the background and on the field. With CJ gone, it is now Rodgers team. He was about as bad as one can get vs. Indiana in his first start. I don't know if was nerves or what but to kill drives with 4 picks is unacceptable by anybodys standards. So a lot depends if he gets his act together. Who knows if he will?

CMU's QB Dan LeFevour is just so damn good and he can put points up in a hurry. CMU will move the ball and get theirs, so it all boils down to if Akron can take care of the ball, finish drives and put some points of their own on the board. Though they have played pretty well so far, CMU's defense is known to be user friendly so it is possible.

The only reason that last weeks game went under was that Indiana kept pounding the ball on the ground, 4 yards at a time, and kept the clock moving. This week could be a very different story. I look for CMU to move the ball well and to dominate but I can't play the side or total in an Akron game until Rodgers settles down and gains some consistancy. Your guess is as good, and probably better than mine on this game.

Spang - going big on Ohio U and the under here, what do you think. I think the public thinks Kiffin will run the score up, but I don't think we are good enough offensively to do that. OU has a good secondary, which will make us one dimensional again.

I am seeing a 24-10, 27-10 type of game? Monte's defense will not give up points, it will come from a pick six or turnover

Agree Skip, The under appears to be very solid and I played it early in the week, I put just under a full unit on it so I didn't post it. I didn't want to duplicate BGs entire card either (which I like a lot) I made a statement in his thread that I thought OU would be lucky to smell the red zone.

I can certainly understand your position on playing OU as well but I stayed away. If I recall correctly another MAC team went down there last year and played very well. I think it was NIU but not sure. You probably can't make any conclusions from that though with the different cast of characters involved at Tenn this year.

Good luck this week, Spang. Little tougher card this week, but I like the OU under a bunch. I figured out that it hit 46 because Edward from RAS released it as an OVER play.
