Irish -

Follow you weekly and was wondering, if you had to box one play in the front end of a few teasers and action/reverses, who would it be this week?

Thanks

UTEP (-19.5) over Rice
The owls are 0-6 and just got their doors blown off by Navy and Tulsa at home. Stacking the box will be key for UTEP as if you shut down the Owls running game they are cooked. They rank Last in passing 87 yards per game and turned the ball over 14 times so far. On defense the Owls have only cause 2 turnovers all season and rank last in scoring allowing 47 per game. The bad news for Rice is they stink against the pass and getting Palmer isn?t going to make that any better. Rice allows 240 through the air per game and UTEP should take full advantage of that stat. Rice has also be decimated by injury, Armstrong, Rucker and Wood are hurt but should play but Perkins / Center , Falco & Knox / H-backs are out. Not like Rice hasn?t played a tough schedule but they have been crushed in all those tough games. UTEP comes off one of its most balanced attacks last week going for 194 rushing and 215 passing. The miners are 2nd in Conference USA with 32 points per game. But against Rice the Passing game (280 yards per) should see BIG plays and holes. The miners have to get tougher on defense they gave Marshall 340. The do have the #1 scoring defense in Conference USA giving up only 20 points per game. The VERY BAD NEWS is UTEP stinks against the rush and Rice can move the ball on the ground. The miners have to stack the box and cut down the run (allowed 215 to Marshall). Higgins and Ebells speed should be too much for Rice and they should make some huge plays. But in the end it all comes down to the D-line of UTEP, they have had injuries but need to play better. Jeremy Jones should shadow the running backs for Rice all game and if he can get on them without being blocked the defense should shut Rice down. The good news is Rice gave UTEP an OVERTIME game last year and that means Coach Price should have them focused and ready for the owls. Not good news that Tulsa is on the doorstep for UTEP but IMO Price should have his defense and passing game up to beating Rice. 20 is a lot of chalk to spot a team at home but over 20 point loses to Navy and Tulsa show the owl defense is very vulnerable.

Depends on the amount you tease. I like all my plays, normally play them for the same amount..... A few other games you might want to look at with the tease is Colorado at K-state (-7.5), FSU (-17) against Maryland. Just some games that look a little high but K-state is rubbish and Maryland is starting a new QB in Tallahassee against a fast defense. Best of luck. I hope this helped you a bit.

Thanks Irish. Tease would be 6 points and here are the teams I want to include in the teasers, but would like to find one to box and put remaining on the other end.

Western Mich
Oregon St
BYU
UCLA
Missouir

The flats I like are:

T.Tech
ECU
Minny Golfers
Nebraska

Just trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. I typically play three 2 team teasers with one team boxes. Play 1-2 A/R's with one team boxed, then 2-3 flats.

N?Western (+3) over Mich
First and foremost Michigan has won or lost their last 5 games by 3 or less. N?Western is on a bit of a te3ar winning their last 3 and should have won 4 in a row but poor play helped the Lions get the win. The Cats buzz saw offense has averaged 37 points per game and Basanez (349 yards per game) and Sutton (averages 6.2 yards per carry) are big weapons. The Mich defense is #3 in the big ten and should be up to matching with the N?Western spread/option offense. Looks like the defense is starting to follow the productivity of the offense shutting down Mich St last game. Still the Cats are 117th in the NCAA for total defense. This defense will need to step up to the plate with the wolverine offense. This is an offense that burned this N?Western team 42-20 last year. Hart left last game with an ankle injury however he should be back for this game. The last few games for Michigan have been decided in the closing minutes or OT. Basanez completes about 67% of his passes and when he isn?t doing it with his arm he can scramble, he averages 3.8 yards per carry. This should be a big game and a tough fight but at home with points and that offense it would shock me to see the Cats win the game. The N?Western defense has to step up and make some big plays; they also have to limit the Michigan big plays as well. It will be a huge challenge to stop the returning game for the wolverines. Can?t afford letting Avant set up field position, it will have to be a big game for the special teams. All in all there should be points scored and a confident N?western team should hang with Michigan. So many emotional games for Michigan might take something away from them in this game. Also the Cats normally play a lot better at home, that and their improved play might give them the edge enough to get the win.

Grabbing Ohio St (-4.5)

Small play based on defense, think the Bucks shut down the gophers running game.
