Jack,
Damned right! its real hard but it is so doable looking back on it. Flex your friggen muscles and shout it from the rooftops....I'M A NON-SMOKER NOW! I mean, I really dont know if I would have made it without the support I got here and an ATTITUDE that I developed (pissed off) and ready to fight! Jack...these things are gonna kick your ass and put you in a box or your gonna kick their ass this week. Simple as that! If a patch will help ...do it BUT.. NO MORE SMOKE...... keep talkin about it when it gets tough cause its gonna be a while but you are almost done with the biggest day of all DAY 1. STAY STRONG!

Hi all This is my first post ive beem lurking for a while but i saw this thread and i wanted to offer a suggestion to Mad Jack and DTB
Theres a website that i used when i quit smoking www.quitnet.com Its a forum for people trying to quit smoking. I was told about it from a friend and when times got tough id log on and either read other posts or join in and it helped being with others who were going through it too at the same time. Its also a great site for any smoking related info your looking for. I also used the drug zaban to help control the cravings and it worked for me you might want to look into it. Good Luck to you both and it does get easier with time. Ive been smoke free for 8 months now and i never thought id get here and its worth the effort.

HatTrick,
Quitnet looks like a good spot to pass some waking time while quitting. I feel like the zealot you speak of sometimes but this can be sooo tough....for the guys going through it.....just gotta stand up and applaud the effort.

Bear,
I agree you have to applaud the effort be it 1 hour, 1 day ,1 week its all good. Its nice to be able to take a deep breath again without hacking up a lung or smelling like a ashtray or going to a party and smoking a pack in about 2 hours and waking up the next morning feeling like im in a fog. These things i dont miss.

Thanks for the encouragement. I as said previously I had quit a while back and not as tough this time but using gum again also.
Emptied out all the ashtrays at home and put butts in a jar of water. If I get the urge I unscrew the lid, what a foul smell.I can really sympathize with Jack being foots and all are just starting, but he's over the hardest day.

2 days down and the rest of my life to go?

bear was right! day 2 not as bad as day one! there was a couple of tough periods though. for some reason, between noon and 1:00 is very hard......after a meal......and at bedtime. those were the toughest.

this might not be as bad as i thought. me--a non-smoker? wow! i'm starting to think so.

let's see what happens today.

thanks

oh! no coughing this morning. already feeling better.

Hey Guys,
Fantastic! you guys are gettin it done! whatta pain in the ass,eh??.....but truth is You are non-smokers and it WILL get easier and easier as you go forward...We gotta face it.. we're druggies who needed to kick our addiction...I'm done...would I like to go have a smoke with coffee now....hell yeah!
Does it hurt not to ....hell no. That first week was tough...NOW..F--K that! I'm gonna lift a little and go for a walk. Then I'm gonna have some coffee and find a team to play with KC in a tease this Sunday..
Guys...Your family must be thrilled! and they should be.
Stay Real Strong! Its gonna get better.
Nicotine is a strong drug and it does not give up easy......NO SMOKE..NONE... EVER!
Last time I quit for a year..thought I'd have 1 or 2 a month or once in a while..Had 1 and finished the pack that evening. No More!
Hang In!
