Went to the local Elks Club today......

My daughter receive a scholarship from our local Elks Club, Emblem Club today at their Annual Instillation Meeting.......Wow was that interesting, never seen a gathering with so many bells & whistles tossed in......They had people marching all over the place, I got more exercise today standing and clapping then I had all week!!!They had more functions/positions for people then they knew what to do with .....Four, 70 plus year old Lady Sargent's at Arms, seriously.....LOL..... I bet they had over 25 different positions/officers and not a one of them under 65 years old......Was a riot to take in, got to love them and their efforts for the local community though.....:toast:

That's great for your daughter:0008Lots of older folks in my rotary club and I enjoy listening to the stories from decades ago.

Social clubs are great when they are run that way. I am very proud of the one
I am an officer of. Although we don't do much marching,we do things for the community .

My friend from Grade School practically lives there. My 2 cents ... I have been asked to refrain from use of the "F" word Aaand their all you can eat chicken is Thighs and Legs Ugh !!! Cheap Cheap Cheap..KFC $7.99 All Kin Scarf...All Wings All Breasts Whatever.

:toast: That is great about your daughter...

the Elks Club sponsors our National Honor Society induction dinner at my High School every year. I was principal at the time and some board of ed members wanted to change the induction dinner to a nicer restaurant since their kids were being inducted that year. The Board of Ed wanted me to make the change at a Board Meeting publicly ....then they would vote and approve it...on my recommendation.....the elks club had sponsored the dinner since 1971 and there was never one complaint ever recorded. Roast beef dinner was fine instead of prime rib...the place was clean and all I had to pay for was the flowers and candles for the ceremony... in Executive Session I told the Board "if you want to move it " its on you". This was about 8 or 9 years ago....last Wed nite they had the induction and ..guess where it was held.....the elks club....I'm long gone from there but I'm glad I stood up to those people....

Elks club is a great organization with many of the people from the community....and many senior citizens....congrats SportsA
