Very lucky in Zinger match as he birdied 5 of last 6 to nip Monty.Had forgotten what it was like to be on fortunate end on one of those.

I'm sure Stan would be fairly happy with todays scores as well (Norman 74 Allenby 75). What a difference 24 hours can make !!

Thanks gents.
Stan since you just got back and I assume you didn't get to see any. I want to relay a most unusual occurance that happened.Mick hit his drive WAY out in the rough. The marshal found ball in area he thought it had gone.Mick lifted it replaced it said it was his type of ball and # but was not his as it did not have his mark on it.The blimp happen to catch overhead shot of where his ball landed and it appeared almost inconclusively it was his ball without his mark. The people relayed the blimp info to the marshal now standing amist of it and you could here him ask are you positive. Then Mick turned to his caddy and ask if he could have possibly not marked the ball before putting it in play. The caddie said he thought he had marked all but it was possible.End result was he played ball with no penalty.Quite unusual woundn't you say.

Cheers DTB. Did read the report at Golfweek which focused on the one-shot penalty Mickelson incurred for not letting Furyk know he was about to lift his ball to identify it

Didn't know about the 'caddies make mistakes' bit. Not heard of that reason before. Sort of thing you would expect to happen to bail Tiger out

Zilch out there today in way of lines.Rain expected.
I see what you ment about his penalty stroke now Stan.Thought he was going to get by with none. While from a betting standpoint I would not have minded no stroke but otherwise think he should have incurred one initially and been sent back to the tee.Don't believe they should let outside forces dictate play. The boulder moving incident of Tiger being the most flagrant I have witnessed.

I also found it weird. Like the Tiger incident, it gave Phil an undue advantage - by being on tv at the time ( with Tiger it was having a throng of strong guys willing to move a freakin huge rock for their fav ).

I think the Tiger incident was cheating, it is up to the officials to stop it, but Tiger knew damn well that boulder was not just a misplaced pebble, IMHO. With the Phil incident, they got it right in the end. I am not sure it is fair to the rest of the field to have tv bail you out, but it has happened many times before and I don't think he was trying to get away with anything. Who was Phil talking to when he said "I'm going to mark it to identify it, I'm not sure its mine"? Evidently it wasn't Furyk, but was it his caddie or an official or just the cameraman?

Think he was talking to the marshal Buck.
Agree Phil wasn't trying to take advantage of situation. As a matter of fact he appeared to be embarrassed about the situation until after he hit the shot and sheepishly acknowledeged a thank you to the blimp.

Final update: 5-0-0 and +7.00 units

What a weekend! The threat of storm meant a dramatic last round could not be watched live, but enough comfort in these winners. Norman closed with a round of 80 and so hand a one-shot victory to Campbell and a ten-shot victory to Franco. Allenby only shot 72, but it was enough for Azinger to win by eight, Sutton to win by five and Toms to win by four. What a weekend!

Update on outright plays: 1-2 and +0.63 units

Disappointing playoff loss to Woods as Furyk finishes 2nd

Almost a great event, but still a decent profit. Mickelson and Hoch disappointed to finish 8th and 21st respectively.

WGC ytd
Matchups/props: 12-13; -7.51 units
Outright plays: 1-5; -2.37 units

Just woke up (its only 5am in Australia) to watch the final round of the NEC Invitational. Not only has the event already finished but so has one of the longest playoffs in PGA history.

No joy with my outrights by covered some of my outlay with Sutton beating Allenby in his matchup.

Stan,

Another great week going 5-0 and another nice selection with Furyk even if he didn't win the playoff.

DTB and Stan, I thought your banter was interesting. I've always thought how much an advantage it must be to have a throng of people running to every errant ball and in this case a freakin' blimp. Wouldn't it be nice if every slice or hook we hit when we played could be found that easily! I guess there aren't very many "lost balls" on tour, lol!

I've often wondered how the pro golfers would fare on a course like most of have to play (W, can u imagine them playing at the Trace???) where there are many imperfections in the courses, unraked sandtraps, unfilled divots, and waiting for foursomes of hacks or women who take forever. I can envision some prick like Monty waiting on each shot at a Muni, lmao! He would say, "Don't u know who I am? I am the high and mighty, non shit-stinkin' MONTY!" These guys are good, but they have the benefit of perfect conditions to play under that the average golfer will never have. I also think a lot of these PGA rules are stupid like the Mick penalty and the Tripp card. Keep those winners coming, guys! Thanks.
