Well I am seeking advice more than anything else. Over the course of one day I have been humbled, I have been at this quite some time and I might be done now. I have a new bookie this season due to the old one stopped doing this, I am a small player but we have an arrangement plus or minus 250 we square up well we never squared at all up to now. All my plays are 70 dollars well this weekend I was amazing 2-16 need I say more. I went into Saturday 300 up and I am now 900 down some may think this is not much but it is alot I just have a hard time believing I could miss that many games and get this I am the top capper on bestbettor.com right now but when I put up the money everything goes wrong that can. My question is this if you are in to deep and you need time to pay the man what do you do?

By the way look for my new website next week called GO THE OTHER WAY.COM

It really is sad I got back into this I went to GA for years and then started back up again a few years back met several people who lost it all. In fact one man had his parents mortgage their home and everything he was really in deep. Lost again a few weeks later and they gave him a week to pay or else, well he did not pay in a week and they kidnapped his daughter true story come to findout after he sold his home, car and his parents home the bookie was the police chief. The good side is his family is there for him still and he has not bet again.
And knowing this guy personally made me think I could control it I told my wife today there is no way I can miss every one of these bets well I didnt i got 2 right out of 18. It seems like I only gamble when I dont have the money then it just makes for more trouble

read schlisters book (leaving a link)

read schlisters book (leaving a link)

sorry about your troubles, but gambling can be as nasty as any drug ... one always has to be careful ... there are so many side FX too ... dont neglect family and friends, and still have a life outside of sports wagering, something that can make you feel good about yourself ... I dont mean to sound like im preaching, or that I know it all, Ive made every mistake known to man, but I play very small and try to enjoy it, tho sometimes, like last 2 weeks, It hasnt been any fun, hehe ...

You went to GA. Then, you started up again thinking you could control it.

The only good advice, I think, is to stop betting. Whether you borrow from family/friends, or work out a payment plan with the bookie or whatever, that's incidental.

The problem here is your gambling -- not your payment situation.

Well, re-reading your post you're really looking for help on payment. Scratching up a quick $900 is not easy. If it were, we'd all be nine-hundred-aires. If he's going to kidnap your daughter, rob a friggin bank. If he's going to turn your ass out, take it like a man.

More seriously, don't pay your mortgage or your rent this month -- give it to the man. The bank ain't gonna kidnap your daughter. Work overtime. Get a cash advance on a new credit card (yes, this will put you in more debt, but it might be fewer points than a bookie, and they won't physically hurt you). Sell stuff, like your computer and your furniture. Eat potatoes.

FWIW, talk to the bookie. Tell him you're cutting yourself off and you'll be paying him back in time.

As far as getting control of your gambling. Play for smaller money. Make fewer plays. Basically, don't bet so much so that if you lost them all you'd be in trouble (like you did this weekend). And if you're incapable of that, stop gambling.

Hope this helps.

christ 18 games? what are you trying to accomplish?

man even if you hit more than half of your games you loose...

the key for you is not to chase.. dont lay it all down on one game..
if youre having trouble coming up w/ 900 think about 1800??

do you have a credit card??

if so go to your bank.. they can process the card there and give you cash..

if not try your folks.. $900 isnt alot of money... if you have a good relationship w/ them they would probably be happy to get their son out of hot water..
then pay them by the month..

if you need cash quick. get a second job waiting tables at night..
waiters can make some good quick cash! you dont have to wait for a pay check, you can take your money w/ you every night.
just a few weeks you can have 900 paid off easy.. you dont

Never bet what u don't have!

repeate the above everyday when you wake up everyday 100 times aloud!

and 200 times before you go to sleep!

FOREVER!

A grown man should know better! Do what you have to do to get square with th man you would want your money if you won , Wouldn't you?

WHY?

S H I T! I'm down 15 dollars and i ain't even sweatin it and I'm broke too. I get out of my head and start betting nickels when I go down big, it has burned me a couple of times, but I managed to borrow the money and it usually works out in the long run. Can't you take a cash advance of a credit card or something.

this happens to the man all the time. he probably already knows you're in over your head. most books will take payments. don't promise more than you can handle but make sure you pay him what you tell him and don't be late. he's human too and i'm sure he'll work with you. he has no choice, right? just call him and let him know what's going on and quit betting.

Know how you feel JC, it happens to alot of people. I for one up until this weekend would bet 20 to 25 games on saturday. Now i went 18 out of 25 last week and 17 out of 24 the week before. But i could have very easily been in your boat if i wouldn't have bought a few 1/2 points here and there.

Best thing to do is make a minimal bet tonight on one side and hope to chew it down some. Don't do the old parley, double up to catch up routine that we have all done at one point, or should i say most have done before. You may win this time doing that, but next week you will be right back in same spot.

I don't post at all, been coming here for over year or so and felt this would be my coming out party. I can be of some help around here, i think, lol. Gl tonight and don't get stupid.

Just;)

JC-

I just had this same talk with a buddy yesterday who is down $600. $900 is really not that bad!! I dont care if you are poor as shit, you can come up with $900. Obviously you got a computer or we wouldnt even be having this conversation right now. So, sell your computer. That might kill two birds with one stone, if you know what I mean? Sell your golf clubs, or your watch or hell, theres an endless list of things you can sell. Many people have had it a lot worse than $900 and it worked out fine for them. Stay positive and keep your head up!! Take it like a man and come up with a responsible solution to this $900 problem you got. Everythings gonna be fine!!:)

Don't sell any of your material things. Sell yourself! I'm telling you man, if you're a half decent looking guy, there's a ton of fat, middle-aged women that would pay cash for a night with a young buck.

Beleive me, I've been there. That 's why I keep a special someone on deck for instances like these just in case. I could refer you to her, she's a big one, but she'll help you out.
