So. Cal
is it me or did bc do everything in their power to cover but not win the game?????

three times in the last 24 secs they have the ball with a chance to tie and they never run a play for a three opting for the layup-then foul strategy????

then of course some fking mook hits a shot with 2 secs left for the cover and nary a foul to be found nor the gimme layup on the hail mary inbounds pass

what a bunch of bs

I stay away from Duke basketball as much as possible, but dont recall one time that I ever bet them as favorites. I'm not saying its fixed, but Vegas has statistics on volume betting, and Duke HAS to be the most heavily bet team in ncaa. In other words every Duke line is likely inflated, meaning it makes no sense to bet them as favorites.

I do know what ya mean though. I've seen the "go for 2 strategy" followed by fouling, even when down by 3, but with 5 seconds left, you gotta think the odds say shoot the 3 pointer. Then theres the mysterious "no call" on the botched layup. Definately alot of shady crap, thats why betting Duke EITHER WAY is a shaky proposition.

i guess my point is.....bc got lucky to get the ball back with 25 secs left and a 1 possession game......same thing happened 2 more times in the last 20 secs......yet bc never attempted a three to tie the game???? what were they waiting for??? how many chances did they think they were gonna get???

As for strategy, I think BC should have gone for a "3" after Redick hit the 2 FT's to make it a 3-point game. Everything before that was fine.
But, he did get fouled. Could have cut the game to a point.
I don't know how their only option was to fould Redick when they cut it to one though. Double him, use a safety, and then go foul ANYONE ELSE.
As I've posted before, yeah-Duke games are really shady, and it just amazes me how physical Duke plays and yet they still shot over 20 MORE free throws than BC.

I guess Mike Patrick and Dick Vitale are taking turns jacking each other off right about now. Just glad to get both my covers.

That game sucked so bad. Amazing how duke went so flat after having a 17 point lead. They should have kept pushing, but they kept choosing to miss 3pt'ers. Lots of stupid turnovers.
Oh well.

Like I said, I don't think BC's strategy was too bad, until maybe the very end.
But, I def. know how you feel. I've had games where a team is down 6, well under a minute to go, and the team starts going for lay-ups.
Its as if they think they are playing smart and it drives me crazy.
Yeah, it can be smart to do it with over a minute, or if you are down 3....but at some point you can't trade baskets with FT's.

that one was when the final 4 in minneapolis after the champ game vs arizona....it actually happened, i saw it happen :)

that game was a blatant hack job by the refs......but the semi-final game vs maryland was even worse......never seen a team handed the title like that one.

was pure robbery. And cost me a ton of cash...when Lute's wife died I played the only future I have ever played on Arizona, and had them in the pools I played too. As bad as the final game was, the game v Maryland should have sent the refs to prison.

agree.....semi's were a joke....finals werent as bad but j-will should have picked up his 3rd foul in the 1h when he was laying on the back of gardner, feet off the gound....how they swallow the whistle there i'll never understand.

that said.....all year, it was duke-arizona that had the 2 best rosters....duke played up to that level all year...arizona lost like 6 or 7 games dealing with the loss of lute's wife but rallied to a 2 seed and won the regional
