Abortion Tricky one for me. I would say Pro Choice but with some kind of psychological follow up. I fear many woman, especially younger girls, get to feeling guilty and take it out on themselves.

Civil rights--Equal rights for everyone. No free passes.

Crime--More cops on the street. Less in speed traps.

Defense--Strong military. Not so much for more foot soldiers. More high tech offense and defense.

Energy--Would like to see someone investigate the oil companies and send a few price gouges to jail. Oil is not a luxury it is a necessity and should be treated as such.

Environment--Strong on the environment. Favor heavy fines for those companies found polluting.

Health care- I don't think I should have to pay for a full year of medical school just because I break an arm or need an operation. Favor overthrowing the whole system. Again health care is a necessity not a luxury. About 20 years ago my health care was Free to me. Paid for by my company. What the Hell happened?

Homeland Security-- This is were we have to be strong and spend some of that money being wasted in Iraq. I consider the boarder part of Homeland Security.

Military- Should be high tech.

Welfare-A lot of people need help now and then. We just have to check the people applying a lot better. I am against most corporate welfare.

Most of our presidents know this rule. The few who deny it get burned to hell. Bush is a moron.

you may be right but i don't remember that...

but today i watched a series of shows called "the presidents" on the history channel.....it said that the u.s. started the war of 1812...thought that was interesting.

One topic i bring up when i get into discussions about paying for Universal health care is the idea of Legalizing and taxing all currently illegal drugs. Eliminate the criminality and we have all that tax revenue and savings of all the money we waste trying to stop what will never be stopped.

Hammer i use to have these thought but after an experience i had i could never agree to legalizing drugs. Marijuana yeah but not everything. Marijuana alone could probably foot the bill and maybe throw in taxing these religions and you can get the other half.
My old boss was a complete mess when it came to pills and if he could have bought them over the counter it would have been ugly. Some people just can't handle it. I had to lie daily for him because i tried to save his job. It was a complete 1 year nightmare. You would be surprised how many people can't handle pills and have those addictive personalities. You would have a half a nation of walking zombie's.

Abortion: Pro-choice.

Civil Rights: I don't believe in Affirmative Action.

Crime: I think a lot of our laws on crime are misguided. I don't participate in their use (save alcohol) but I believe drug offenses are punished too harshly. Also, sex offender punishments are either too lax or are too harsh. You piss in public, that's not a effin' sex crime....pay a fine and move on. You touch a kid, throw the book at them.

Defense: Our spending is much too high and I think it is becaus eof our policy. I believe in protecting our home and bombing the living sh*t out of our threats. I think that type of strategy is a lot less costly than setting up military operations all over the globe.

Energy: Private interests have too much say in our energy policies. Our dependence on oil is scary.

Environment: I'd like to see more legislation to protect our environment and more spending dedicated to environmental engineering.

Health Care: Serious reform is necessary, and I am not opposed to going to a system like the one Canada uses.

Homeland Security: WTF is that? The last time I checked it wasn't a priority....unless you consider a color coded system "progress". Sending our military to the middle east is NOT my idea of homeland security. I'm all for keeping our military here, building up our border protection, and using technology to squish threats.

Military: This caretakers of the world BS is for the birds. Our military should be used to protect us at home. I'm also a big fan of technology advantage. There is a reason Japan doesn't mess with us anymore. We hadn't had a serious threat in a couple generations, and I think it is due to the fact that we showed the world that we are NOT to be f'd with. I might be radical on this subject, but I think a more radical idea is compromising our homeland security and setting up camp in some middle eastern nation where our soldiers get picked off on a daily basis.....and maintaining that camp for 50 years.

Welfare: It shouldn't be "free", unless you are disabled, etc.

ADDED:

Education: I would like to see a greater emphasis put on the importance of education because I think it is the key to our success as a country. The lack of resources available to kids in inner city schools is ciminal.

"the bunker"
When we are attacked, we fight back with everything we have AGAINST THOSE WHO ATTACKED US. We NEVER start a pre-emptive war because it has NEVER worked in our history.

.

smurph...i`d think you might want to re-think that one in a nuclear world..at least as an all-encompassing policy directive.......with the potential for shadowy enemy-proxies now an issue.....

enemy-proxies that may not be able to be linked definitively to nation-states that mean to do us harm......

a first strike... a successful nuclear or terrorist attack could mean hundreds oif thousands of lives...not just several thousand....

as i`ve stated before(and i`m sorry to foist on you again),consider israel`s pre-emptive strike on saddam`s osirak reactor back in 1981....

think about saddam left to his own devices, procuring his weapon(s),and then invading kuwait.....

think how different history could have been if saddam had been armed with more than scuds......

i know the "bush lied" thing is the automatic response.......lets not get into that again.....all i`m saying is that preemptive action can`t be taken off the table in today`s world....

bush will be gone in less than 2 years.....maybe a dem will get in....

put the partisanship aside and don`t hamstring the future decision makers based on "bush"....
