Considering a full table, not heads up.

I think it is K 10 offsuit. I have seen players with this hand raise to the limit and call everything (especially in nl tourneys). It's really not that great of a hand. Thoughts?

Considering a full table, there's way too many to list, but I think way too many people value that "Ace" along with a medium value card as well as stuff like your mentioned K-10.

What amazes me is the number of players out there that refuse and I mean absolutely refuse to lay down a small pocket pr with over cards out there after the flop. I quickly tag these players as "pocket pr freaks" for lack of a better description

I like a lot of people ride hands like Ace-7 for no reason as well. They see the Ace and fall in love.

Also low pocket pairs -- see a lot of raises with 5-5, which is going to get beat at a full table more times than not.

AQ or AJ

see a big bet out there all the time with this one.....then see them call anything if they are reraised....huge mistake unless you KNOW it is a fish and even then you are taking a gamble

also AK is played way too far.....see lots of fools never able to fold that no matter what shows up

This is an interesting question.

Back in 1995-1996 I tracked every poker hand I played (with a little notebook). I wrote about this, which essentially gave me patterns of my play over an 19 month period.

I found that the biggest money loser over the course of the trial period was K-J. I lost a fortune with that hand.

I can't say if others would get the same results, but I will say that K-J is prolematic for many reasons -- most of which are that it give you questionable kickers, potential draws (that will miss often), and keep you married to a pot, sometimes drawing to few outs.

K-!0 is a worse hand, but I agree with the other posts, that most good holdem players will toss this hand away, unless thye are in LP.

j-j is a hand that i have lost alot with. i raise preflop and if one or two overcards hit i seem to misplay the hand more often than not.

I agree, but you got tolearn to fold this hand if any over cards (A,K,Q) come... I think I would almost rather have AKos than JJ...

Any pairs up to Oueens. See them lose all the time. Better play A's strong or you will lose that too....

Good question.

Low pairs (2s through 7s) are largely overplayed. If you don't hit the flop you have to get out. The odds of hitting a set on the turn are 24-1 and likewise for the river. So, if you miss your set on the flop get out ASAP unless you are getting unbelievable odds to warrant a bet on the turn.

For me playing 5-10, 10-20, or 20-40 at Harrah's in Chicago. The hands that I see most overcompensated for are JJ-QQ-KK. I know that may sound funny but most of these live games people will raise out with these hands and hardly anyone that is already committed to the big blind pre raise dumps there cards. Overcards come and a lot of people play hands out, raising, and re-raising with these hands when in almost all instances they are beat. Then they bitch and moan about having these hands beat.

I won't shy away from saying that I like the big monsters but I value KQ AK QJ or any of these suited pre-flop just as much if not more. It gives me a lot more options, and traditionally I am a tighter player and Nolan will prolly say this is wrong but in these 5-10, 10-20 tables where community or family pots are fairly common I won't raise anything pre-flop. ANYTHING! And it does work, for me at least, the way I play I don't like to raise a pot with JJ or QQ because when that A or K come in a 7 handed hand I have just given an extra bet to someone.

Thats just my two cents
