When's the last time you paid cash for a purchase of more than $50?

The reason is, Saint, that you are getting paid today for a service u performed today. It's not to intimate you are cheating on the income attained from services performed. How nice would it be if all of your customers on a day to day basis fully paid their bill that day? Also, my parents worked all their lives and never had a dental insurance option. What's not to understand here? You have been fortunate I'm sure to never have shitty health insurance like so many working people do. Hospitals will sometimes discount 50% of the bill to get paid in full. I have negotiated a lot off healthcare bills over the years. It should be worth a heck of a lot more than a 2% credit card fee to you to get paid today in full for services today.

The people who are getting royally screwed now by Obamacare are those who are middle class, work, and don't have a nice company policy to choose. These people (me included) pay through the nose for shit insurance and never use it bc it is cost prohibitive.

See you are making something personal that's not personal. When a credit card is swiped it's in the account 2 days later. What makes a cash payment different? So I get it 48 hours earlier so you deserve a discount?

Please don't misunderstand cash payments vs. self-pay. I discount heavily people who are self-pay, ie, no insurance. But someone offering cash vs. paying with a credit card, asking for a discount, makes zero sense. None.

BTW my insurance is complete shit, so your assumption is incorrect. Since I am self-employed I am subject to the marketplace. Great news, NC raised premiums only 40% this year. For my family of 5 I "only" pay 1200/mos for a high deductible HSA plan.

But the fact remains, someone asking for a discount paying cash implies that we aren't going to file it, ie, cheat on our taxes, because otherwise there is little to no savings vs. accepting a credit card.

Not personal, sorry for the wrong assumption on insurance. I don't think you're getting fully paid in 48 hours for every sercice though? How many people do u have on payment plans and in collections? I also don't surmise that a cash payment means u don't claim it. GL in your business, and I'm right there with u and the shit insurance.
