North Texas will start Freshman quarterback, Drew Mestemaker who has played a total of 41 snaps this season… More importantly, Mestemaker in his final two years in H/S at the quarterback (16 games) position finished with more tackles on defense (11) than touchdowns (5)
Also missing Wr Sheffield who is a straight up baller!! Catches slants , bombs, screens, takes hand offs. His like the Cheetah.
Mess-maker was 4/5 on passing with 69 yards, key receivers back Conwright, Ward and freshman TE Young, stud RB Porter could play in NFL or CFL. NT with quite a few defensive players out. 14 total starters out.

Va Tech in similar boat as NT and QB will be split between two. Minnesota has core back with Brosmer at QB had 17 TD passes to 5 INTS.

Notre Dame -1 1/2 play to -6 1/2 (1 unit) - Irish have a strong "D", something Penn State hasn't seen in quite a while, probably back to when Penn State got beat at home in Happy Valley by the Buckeyes! RBs for Penn State had a huge night vs Boise front 7 but they won't have that same luxury vs Irish front 7, just ask Georgia backs, Frazier and Etienne. Penn State's best weapon will be utilizng Warren, the big TE and the receivers, however, Irish shut down the entire offense of Georgia, again, using a BU QB in Stockton, Allar is a big strong QB for Penn St, so Irish will throw the throwin' Samoan loose who had a field day vs Georgia, causing and covering fumbles while sacking Stockton and keying on RBs. The difference in this tilt will be the "D" of the Irish and the running QB in Leonard who'll dump short passes off as he did vs Dawgs and Love won't be stymied like he was by Georgia by Penn St. Jeanty did manage to get over 100 yards rushing on a ton of carriers for Boise, the problem in that game was Boise had over 100 yards in penalties which the Irish won't do vs the Nitt-witts of PSU in Miami. ND 24 PSU 17

Friday 1/10/25

Ohio St -6, play to -7 or less (5 units) - Buckeyes face a formidable opponent however, momentum, experience and key core players, Jeremiah Smith, Egbuka, Judkins, Henderson for me are much better than Ewers (slow a foot), Wisner easy target, Special teams and "D" for Buckeyes key here as well and that lil chip on the shoulder of Ryan Day with everyone in Columbus asking for his job if he don't win the big one. On paper, OSU would be a pick'em to -3 favorite over Georgia, Georgia w/o Beck was vulnerable and it showed vs the Fightin' Irish. Howard is a beast and getting the ball to his receivers isn't a problem, just as the Ducks!! Horns remind me of the Ducks, even on the front "D" line for the Horns, you saw how Skattebo expoited the Horns front 7 the 2H and the QB for Sun Devs also had his way scrambling vs Horns. Howard can run if need be, but his skill set is hitting the receivers and utilizing the two big RBs. Ohio St 31 Texas 20! I'm sure some public heavy bettors will be on the Horns hopefully driving the price down and keep it down < 7 points.

N Dakota St +3 1/2 (1 unit)

7 pt: N Dakota St +10 1/2 & over 51 1/2 (1 unit)

Monty State is 15-0 however schedule of strength edge to N Dakota St who had a great opportunity to beat Colorado at Colorado if not for 2 Heisman trophy TDs from Hunter!! Both head coaches were on the staff's of Craig Bohl who is now out of college football coaching, but are the lineage to a great culture builder for years. N Dakota St has little Lance as a WR, not QB for and he's a decent sized target with just average gettaway speed but he snags catches!! Monty State thrives on whatever QB Mellott can do with the rock, toting it or throwing it, he's not a deep yardage passing guy, he's a finess guy who'll take whatever the "D" gives him. My numbers came out as Monty St to be a 3 point fav and the total of 56 1/2, the line opened up Monty -3 and total of 55 1/2 steaming to 58 1/2, this is an outdoor game and it will be chilly which both of these teams are used to. Check out the wind conditions as it will favor the kickers of N D State more.

GLE!!

hey wb , hope you're doing well, haven't kept up much since you left raleighwood.

interesting game tonight that should be a blast to watch so i'm looking for a play. right now leaning montana state. bobcats have been trying to get past the bisons in the championships for the better part of a couple of decades, coming close last year but losing in overtime. this may be their year with the game outdoors in unseasonably cold texas weather as nd st plays their home games in a small cozy dome that holds about 20k. the weather should be around freezing at kickoff with a 10 mph quartering wind. also, evidently the montana state administration bought 5000 tickets to the game behind the state bench and sold them at deep discounts to alums so the bobcats should have some good support. we'll be on opposing sides but the game looks to be a coin flip so it should be entertaining.

good luck, and thanks for all the good reads of the last couple of decades.

Hey Loop, great to hear from you. It should be an entertaining game for sure. I watch FCS usually at the end of the season with the last 8 teams playing and have followed N D State for many years, they're always consistent and find diamonds in the rough and get transfers just wanting a chance to play with many ending up in pro football at some level. I like the running style QB in Mellott but I like the "D" a touch more for N D State, 37 sacks, they had a few vs Shedeur in Boulder, 49 pass deflections and 11 INTs compared to weaker schedule of Monty State with 37 sacks 45 PDs and 9 INTs, if there is a weakness in this game is the kicking game on Montana State side.

Looks like I'm going to relo back to Bugaha!! But will be back in June for my youngest daughter's HS graduation from Millbrook!! Good luck tonight!
