The answer is NO!!!

Only if people actually WORK for that money that is spent!!!

The socialist leftists UNANIMOUSLY with the help of a few socialist Republicans block the tax and spend Congress!!!

Someone needs to tell these people that we can't spend money we don't have!!!!

Time to eliminate all free handouts.

Let charity do the handing out!!!

Not the worthless government!!!

In five years, Bush has yet to veto any spending bill. Not one! Yet you blame the democrats?

That's pathetic.

Sorry Freeze.

I guess I saw your rant at Democrats and figured you were talking about something recent. I guess you were talking about the Carter admin.

Newsflash- Republicans control the house, the senate and the White House. Yet you blame excessive spending on the Democrats? Our President has not vetoed one spending bill. Is he a 'tax and spend' Democrat? Who are you talking about?

Is it Bush? The same Bush who cut taxes right before he took on a ridiculous 6 billion a week debacle in Iraq and now is shooting for more cuts?

Are you kidding me?

Listen Dilbert.

GET OFF YOUR MARTHA MOORE FRANKEN BUSH HATE OBSESSION!!!

HERE IS THE PROBLEM:

1. Any spending reduction will be SPUN by the leftist media and democrats as being "uncompassionate and Blah, blah, blah"

2. The media will be on this until the election

3. The leftist socialists did not bring ONE VOTE towards fiscal responsibility. ONE VOTE!!!!!

4. Approximately 10% of the Rep. party is either leftist themselves or will be KILLED in the media if they vote against spending.

So therein lies the problem.

We have constituencies who VOTE THEMSELVES OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY.

It is screwed up and a representative democracy will not function in such a system as the dollar goes down the toilet, there is no incentive to achieve, produce, excel, or work hard, etc. etc. etc.

Look what happened to Newt when he tried to control spending. He was crucified by the press and as a result, the government educated/brainwashed/dumbed down public didn't like their umbilical cord being clamped.

Now it is political suicide to cut spending.

Kudos to the brave Conservatives who tried.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage.

Why do we have a term like "tax and spend liberal?" Isnt it a bit redundant? Are there "liberals" by definition that dont want more taxing and spending?

unfortunately, the part of the citizenry i am communicating with, does not know exactly what a liberal is anymore

we have to use redundancy, hysteria, and hyperbole to explain things to them because that is how they communicate

It takes a true, compassionate conservative to continue to stump for tax cuts for the wealthy in lieu of student loan subsidies and continuing to freeze Pell Grants - all this at a time of war. The phrase "no child left behind" keeps creeping back into my mind when I see the specific cuts that are up for votes, sponsored by conservatives.

If you can stand firm screaming for tax cuts considering the position we are currently in, then you have finally achieved wealthy conservative Nirvana.

why should one not have to take out a LOAN instead of getting free government money?????

Why are we funding parties at colleges with federal money going towards pell grants???

You leftists are all the same. You take RESPONSIBILITY away and put it in the hands of the government. What you are left with then is less personal responsibility as you have ZERO idea of how human nature works.

You steal from hardworking American's pockets and pay for people to party at your favorite University of Leftist Indoctrination.

MEMO to Liberal: Success does not have much to do with education errr indoctrination. It has ALL to do with learning SELF RELIANCE, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, and HARD WORK.

Yes, get rid of the Pell Grant. If an education is worth it, one will invest in it with one's own funds.

So you support tax cuts for the wealthiest of Americans while we are at war? Nice sacrifice. That would have played well in WWI and WWII.

What exactly is the right amount of taxes that Americans should pay? Tax cuts, tax cuts, cut spending, cut spending.

I think that most liberals agree that there are plenty of programs that should be cut. I know I do. I think most would agree that government is probably too big. Plenty of excess spending on both sides of the aisle. At least this liberal thinks so.

But to push for tax cuts for a select few, when the entire country is paying for a war to the tune of $8 billion or so every month...does that make financial sense?

I'd like to pay less in taxes. Wouldn't we all? But I realize that you gotta pay to benefit in many cases. We all have things we think taxes should go for - except for those that ONLY think of themselves and don't feel they should have to pay any, or very little. And yet they benefit and enjoy the very things that taxes pay for. And bitch about it until they are blue in the face.

What were these numbers when Bush took office? I don't know off the top of my head, just wondering. You are comparing Bush to Bush, in half of them.

Obviously the system in place has not kept the millionaire from making that much more money than the other guy, has it? Does the system keep him from trying to make a million bucks? Does it make him say...this isn't fair...I'm not going to try? And, who says this guy is working hard, anyway? What is this one guy doing to make his money? Is he one of the ones that can afford to pay a high-priced accountant to locate deductions and save on his tax burden? Is he really paying his share? Who is this guy? Talk about lunacy.

I'm not picking on the guy with my point. I'm saying, why CUT his taxes RIGHT NOW? Why not keep them the same...I'm not asking for more to pick on him.

Even prior (and thankfully present) conservatives realized a time of war was a time of sacrifice, or could/should be, for the country. All of us. Not for some of us. They realized tax cuts when we have added (astronomical) expenditures for war didn't make sense to reasonable people.

Why cut taxes???

Because they are WAY OVERTAXED as it is and cannot afford to pay employees a decent wage!!!

Now everyone can make more, commerce will increase, and tax income for the government will increase.

Its cyclical.

THATS why.

After years of socialist tax policies, its time to eliminate them so we can let EVERYONE pursue the American Dream and make money!!!
