Will Ohio State be playing Notre Dame?

Just curious. Not sure how the BCS matchups are determined. Is it likely that OSU will play the Irish? If so, what do you think the line will be. If not, who will OSU probably play?

Thanks and have a great night!

Ohio State is now guaranteed a BCS berth.

If Notre Dame is up to No 6, as they probably are, they are also guaranteed a berth.

Fiesta takes ND, Orange takes Oenn State, so Fiesta can take West Virginia or Ohio State.

Think that one is pretty clear.

Thanks Sun Tzu.

I think Fiesta would then pick OSU.

If so - any prediction on the line?

Oregon cant go now GJN

Ohio State ia automatic if in BCS top 4 and ND if in Top 6. They both will be. Oregon cant be picked even if Fiesta wants to.

If Notre Dame plays OSU, I see the line to be

Notre Dame -4

Any thoughts?

I'm probably way off.

Most likely those two meet in the fiesta bowl. Theres alot to be sorted out still.

With VT and LSU losing tonight, the BCS standings will be reshuffled. The top 3 remain the same but OSU will become 4th, Oregon 5th, and ND 6th most likely.

If thats how the BCS reshuffles, the BCS scenario doesnt change much because of today. The only differences will be the auto bids go to Georgia and FSU instead of LSU and VT. OSU becomes a MANDATORY selection for the BCS because any team ranked 4 or higher in the BCS not getting an auto bid, but within a BCS conference, MUST be selected. So OSU is in. There is then a clause in ND's contract, because they have no conference affiliation, that they MUST be selected if ranked 6th or higher in the BCS. If the BCS reshuffles as I said above, they will be 6th, and an AUTO bid. The attractiveness of the teams does not change, so OSU and ND probably still end up in the fiesta bowl. Oregon gets the AUTO snub if you will.

However, one thing that could change all that is if LSU stays above ND in the BCS rankings. This is unlikely but would increase LSU and Oregon's chances of being selected instead of ND, because ND would be lower than 6th and not an AUTO selection. I personally see NO WAY LSU stays ahead of ND though, despite losing to a good Georgia team.

Not sure about that one. Probably see OSU as a favorite here because ND hasnt won a bowl game since 1994. Makes ND an even more attractive play for me.

OSU is like .05 ahead of Oregon in the BCS, which doesnt sound like alot, but with the teams being idle, enough to guarantee moving past VT and LSU with losses

I do post plays there Sun Tzu, after your critique last night I publicized my FSU +475 ML play today. NOt bad for a guy who "adds nothing to this site" Too bad you didnt tag along my friend. Best of luck to ya.

Just because someone has a difference of opinion with you doesnt make your plays or views any better than theirs. Remember that.

haha yeah, maybe I'm just being a little hopeful because I would love OSU here as a dog even though ND is a TOUGH team.

Derek - thanks for that breakdown. I think ND/OSU would be a great matchup!

Nice size wager? If ND is favored by 4 over OSU, you cannot borrow enough money to bet on the buckeyes...

Oregon is totally froze out of bcs. They have no shot of jumping osu in the computers, especially since they now have exactly ZERO wins over top 25 teams, now that fresno lost and will drop out of polls. And even if Notre Dame is not in the top 6, which is unlikely, they were going to be fiestas first pick all along, even over penn st., and certainly over oregon.

Ok, ok - so I'm probably way off. I just thought the oddsmakers may place ND as a favorite purely based on their game against USC. In addition, ND has a great following (I know, I know - so does Ohio State) and think people will bet ND just because they are ND.

After listening to people's comments, I do not think any team will be over a 3.5 point favorite in my opinion.
